So far your build looks great. Don't forget to remove this piece, and if you have it on the other side, remove that too:

I personally would finished the build (by inserting the rear keyhole and cutting out the dent hole and adding the dent) before adding the fiberglass, but that's your choice. Keep up the awesome work!

And thanks for the kind words!

Nice catch on the extra piece I forgot to remove Rafal, I'm happy you responded quickly so I didn't get too far along before finding that out. I figured I might have an easier time smoothing out the dome if I waited on
cutting in the dent. I still need to fabricate the rear keyhole and ear pieces, I'm thinking of trying another material to build these pieces using your dimensions.
I started the first coat of bondo and sanded until I found the high points on the cardboard template, time for 3-4 more coats on top to smooth it out...

Really like the dome form, it is so smooth. But don't forget to send more from the base line to achieve that step between the dome and the red rim:

This is looking really nice! You've got a good foundation here. Thinking I need to start a rafalfett build soon.

Not much of an update, more of a bump to keep the thread alive. Been busy at work but had some time to add more Bondo. Sorry for the poor photo quality.

Thanks for the kind words guys, threw some primer on to check for areas I needed to fix. Cut in rough openings for the dent, turn signals and borden connector. Do you guys think it looks too thin from the front view? I'm debating stopping at this point and starting a new build...

It's looking good to me, how do you mean too thin from the front?

The lower jawline looks narrow to me, it's hard to tell because there are so many versions of the helmet. I also think I brought the rear dome too far toward the rear, the reference pictures I'm looking at show more of an offset between the rear lower portion and the rear dome.
I drew in some red lines to show what I mean. b-w-fett-pngfett-side-jpg

Okay, I am going to finish this thing. I think the narrow chin was caused by my camera being too close.

    Small update:
    20150720_150216-jpg20150720_165944-jpg20150720_180632-jpg20150720_184002-jpg20150720_191621-jpg20150720_200245a-jpg
I used a vinyl "For Sale" sign to cut out the key slots and glue two layers onto a curved plastic piece of a small bucket. The vinyl gave me sharper edges than I was getting with cardboard.
Also filled in the dent. Now to smooth, sand and figure out the ears and range finder.

Rafal, Thank you for all of your hard work on your templates and stencils. There is something very satisfying in building something out of nothing. Your templates and tutorials are excellent.

Okay so... I'm just stalking around this place for now, trying to get and idea of what's what, and you all keep saying "bondo." So I looked it up. What kind of bondo do you use? There seem to be several different kinds. You know, bondo for this use, or that use, or whatever.

(sorry, this is probably not the best place to be asking XD)

I mentioned my ROTJ Boba Build to some co-workers, and explained that there is a rather large community of people that make and cast parts for the costume. one said, "why don't you cast your own, or make it out of cardboard or something - then it's truly yours from start to finish!"

My response: "Because I'm not crazy..."

Haha, you have some talent for sure, CRAZY talent! I'm in awe at the skill and patience you have!

Haha, my wife thinks i'm a crazy person too!

    Thanks for the compliment Boochman.
As far as patience I am taking my time on this, I use it as an excuse to go out in the garage turn on some music and drink some brew. It is my way of winding down after work.
As far as skill, if it turns out half as good as the talented people in this community I would be very happy.
