Animefan Budget style Boba fett Helmet Kit Paint up

Sintel

New Hunter
Hi All

This is my Animefan helmet Paint up thread I will be posting photos of my efforts and will be happy to get comments as this is my first go at this.I am really pleased with the helmet I bought it has great detail in the circuit board at the back and all the parts fitted together with only minor problems that can be fixed like mild filing of the holes for easy insertion and alignment. No damage occurred in the postage from Canada to Australia during the Christmas period (worst time to post anything) and it even arrived early a real credit to Animefan's quality and packaging choices. This paint up will be a long one as I am not going to rush and it is for me not a customer so please be patient if you are following the thread. Here are a couple of Pics with more to follow after the new year when I will start. The visor is a T-visor FP deluxe.

Well stage 2 is done cut out the visor space and filed down just have to sand out the file marks left and fitted the visor in with only minimal gaps in one spot but reshaping the visor will fix that, once that's done onto the painting. Just bought myself a nice little 115 psi compressor and air brush to paint with might make a stand for the helmet first which will help when painting, time to dig out the router and other wood work tools :).

Looking good man, I am going to put in my visor in the same way as you! What type of glue did you use for the chicago screws? I was going to use Zap a gap and zip kicker

Cheers and good luck!

Just use epoxy glue just make sure you rough up the bottoms and mounting points to ensure a good bond I had a couple come unstuck as the glue didn't bond to the smooth surface.

Finally got off my butt and put on some primer and silver which turned out awesome considering the trouble I had with a few spots that didn't like the paint. (must have been a bit of mold release left there) Even though I scrubbed the parts for a good 30 minutes. next comes the hard part doing layer upon layer to get the look. It will be a while before my next post as I have to find an art supply store for some wax paper to do the trace but I have the humbrol maskol ready to go and the first 6 colors for the layers can't wait.

Spent 15 minutes throwing together a stand for the helmet to use for the air brushing and as a display after its finished.

No but I did have to heat it up a bit to give it more of a bend to force it onto the edges when it's fitted. Around the bit in-between the top mounting point and where the blue tape is. The FP Deluxe is the one Animefan recommended.

And so it begins. I am doing the layers on the back and face including the cheeks as I need to finish before April for Perth Com-a-Con.

I'm a bit new to the hobby. Could you explain what you are doing here. Did you stencil the wear marks on there? What is the material you've dabbed on there and what will it do? Thanks!

I have this helmet bookmarked so I'm interested how to paint it!

I am using Rafal Fetts templates and mark the damage using graphite trace paper and a pen then mask the damage with humbrol maskol before airbrushing the next layer will post a pic later
