amiadfilter strikes again!

Yeah I have noticed he hasnt put up a new auction after I won the last one. I'm still waiting on confirmation of shipping since I emailed him and asked for a shipping notification and he hasnt replied. He's got 4 days left on the will ship within 10 days he said on his auction. We'll see what happens

I finally received my negative feedback from him. He said "Unsatisfied, fine. But you recv'd complete refund w/out returning anything!". I responded with, "I did receive a refund, I just want to warn others how awful your products are.". Hopefully he goes away.

So wait a second.... I'm no lover of this seller but if what the feedback says is true, you got a free helmet and you are still upset? Wow. I will admit, mine was not entirely what I expected when I opened the box, but it was a decent, inexpensive start. Like I said, I could go either way on this guy, but I don't think what you did was cool at all. I looked at the feedback you left him, and then I read what you just posted. I can understand being unhappy, but I have yet to buy any prop kit that hasn't needed some type of work. Anyway, sorry to be negative, but that doesn't seem fair for anyone to do that, even if you don't like a guy.

I offered to return his lumpy helmet to him if he paid for shipping. I have also had my fair share of props that have needed work, but this one was very unacceptable. I'll have to post some pictures of it when I get the chance. The reason I left negative feedback was to warn others that they weren't getting the nice smooth helmet from the pics that he "borrowed" from MS. As far as I'm concerned, the man is a thief in more ways than one. First, he recast someone else's sculpt (which I didn't realize until I opened the box). Second, he misrepresented himself and his product as being something they weren't. Lastly, he sent me a helmet with dents in the wrong locations (imagine a DP 95 left in your car on a hot summer day), there were valleys in the visor area and the dome looked like it had been hit with a golf ball a few times. Have you ever seen resin that looked like it was cast in sandstone? His resin pieces were gritty, the RF post was curved - I could put it on a flat surface and place a pencil under the middle of it. The inside of the helmet had razor sharp edges that my wife cut herself on when she first handled it. If I were to attempt to clean up his helmet that "requires very little sanding and absolutely no removal of unsightly seams", I'd probably be going through a medium sized can of bondo to get the helmet ready for paint. I'm not upset, I got my money back, I just want to warn others before they send this crook their hard earned money. Am I going too far, or should I try to warn others? I think that I may have received the worst of his work, but I could be wrong and have better standards than some.

What I don't understand is how all the newer members end up here at TDH after they buy from this jerk. Why didn't you find the Dented Helmet before your purchase? Does he include something in the auction (reference CD perhaps?) that points you to this forum?

That's been bugging me for awhile.

I was pointed to The Dent by Michigan Jaster (I think he just changed his name from Mister Fett 1975) after I seen his negative feedback after I already ordered my helmet and contacted him through ebay. I'm still waiting to recive the amiad bucket and see about refunds and what not if I get a bad one like everyone else(most likely I will)

I should have known better and checked TDH for anything about this guy. I'm just getting back into Mandalorian costuming after a small hiatus and needed something cheap and quick, basically getting less than what I had paid for. Now I know, and knowing is .... Well, everyone knows the rest of that one.

I got here by way of the 501st...

I decided not to leave him negative feedback, I just emailed him and told him that I don't think he should be using stock photos for something like this especially when the buckets look nothing like the photo.

I decided to work with the bucket some and see what I can do...

I just purchased another one from someone on the board, and I thought I could use this one to practice and if it works out OK maybe I can sell it.

I guess that was my point. (and I'm not trying to bash you, so please don't take it too personally, just trying to elaborate here) But, you got it for nothing at all and you still seem to be very upset.

I've read this thread several times over and I guess I have started to see things like this... This thread was started by someone that wasn't displeased with thier purchase (like me), sure they may have gained knowledge of better helmets out there after finding this site, but it has been other people taking the opportunity to complain that has turned this thread into what it is now. I wonder though, this guy seems to sell a lot of these helmets, but the only threads I see, good or bad, turn into this. To me, it's like those situations where you go out to a resturaunt and have a good time, then you proceed to tell you friend about it the next day, but all they can reply with is how bad it was when they went there. They don't care what you have to say, they just want you to know why they hated it... I don't know.

I guess (again to me) that it makes one look bad, especially after all the talk, that one of the loudest complainers got their meal for free. It just makes some of us (me, for instance) that paid for one of these and didn't think it was the end of the world, a little frustrated.

Again, my helmet took work, but it is still a wearable, accurate helmet. When it comes to props (mostly the resin variety) I have just come to expect they are going to need clean up. SOme a great deal more than others. Of course my helmet didn't cut anyone, but there was some sanding, and inhaling of toxic dust, involved too though.

In the words of Frank Costanza, "I'm done!"

I still havent recieved mine in the mail yet but with seeing all the negative stuff about these helmets its got me worried about it. I really hope that it is close to screen accurate but I also dont want to open the box and see a casting that has spots that look like it has sand or bubbles or something in it. I would like it to look clean with good shape. From the picture posted of one of his it doesnt look like it has the correct shape, like its too skinny at the bottom. But that might just be the camera angle I guess. I'm just worried that when it does come in that I open the box and get something that isnt worth what I paid for it just so I can invest more time and money just to fix it. I'll see if I can borrow a camera and get some pics when mine comes in.

Yea. You should have known better than to make such a rookie mistake Jaster. :p Heck, I see you every couple of months and you could have asked me.

Don't let it happen again. ;)

LOL, It was before Sgt. Fang was selling the Mystery helmets and I couldn't get in touch with MS, so it was a **** shoot (we can't have a reference to a common casino game?). I'll have to bring it to GR this weekend. It's really sad looking, I think that I may have gotten an old helmet that was laying around because it didn't have that new resin smell to it. It might have been one of his earlier mistakes that he was pawning off, but who knows?

This is the same joker I got my bucket from! That thing was a mess when I got it and the pics don't even remotely represent what you get from him!

Well I too am a victim of this cat. I ordered one of his buckets two days before finding and joining this board. I have had to keep all of the messages to and from him just in case and I think it was a wise choice. My package arrived today and below is what I got…(Oh please keep in mind the following quote from the auction while you scroll along "This helmet requires very little sanding and absolutely no removal of unsightly seams. Who knows what you'll get from someone else!"

Ahh the first sign of bad things to come..

And it just gets worse...

All of the greeblies for the helmet were loose inside of it with no packing to keep the shape of the bucket during shipping.

Here are a few of the parts...

I am still waiting to hear back from the seller to see what he is going to do about this. I will follow up when I get a response. Oh by the way the helmet was paid for on the 20th of Oct and not shipped untill the 24th of Nov.

Oh my Ross!!! That's a screen accurate piece of SHATNER!!!!!!
Once again brother, so sorry this happened to you.
I got a full tank of gas and a good length of rope if you need it. :)

WOW!

there has GOT to be a way to drive this guy out of business.

what if we all start putting up "warning about amiadfilter" web pages? google would pick it up... but that would require people google fett helmets first before buying.

hrm...

Yes you are correct TK 7602. I am very new to this new addiction and like other newbies I admit I did not do my homework on what I was getting into untill it was a few days too late. I have been posting this and links to the topic on more than a few boards to spred the word.

I did get a personal email from this cat and sent him the above photos. I am waiting to hear back.

******Update*****

I just got a reply from him, and he is offering to replace or refund. Guess what road I went for? I'll let ya all know what his response is .

Drum roll please..........

"Yeah, I just did a refund. I pulled some cash from a credit card.

I just wanted to apologize. I've been so freaking rushed these days that I didn't get it out to you quickly or safely. I'm kinda pissed at the Post Office, but you are right, I should have put something in there to stabalize things. I've sent a couple out recently that were packaged differently and no complaints there. Anyway, once again I'm sorry about this. Good luck on your next helmet. Thanks for taking it in stride."

So there you have it. After 42 days I am right back where I started.
