amiadfilter strikes again!

Well I purchased one of amiadfilter's recast buckets off ebay about a month ago. Mine, however, did not look as bad as poor deadbolt's, and I can say that it is infact "mystery" size I measured it myself to make sure.

Not to say that there aren't any problems with the casting, mine does need to be sanded around the bottom edge, and the inside is just pure fiberglass. There is no solid coating other than a layer of black primer inside. But the helmet is a solid workable peice without any holes and mine came with all of the parts including the stalk. I have started to paint it ESB style by hand and from the outside with the paint on it it looks pretty dang good. I would post some pics but my camera's usb cable is missing.

I think amadfilter my have read deadbolts post and all of your replys because mine is a much better project helmet than his. It was still pricey at $180 bucks (including shipping). I know I got burned there, but what are you gonna do right?

I will probably get another bucket later but if I can manage to turn this one into the helmet I want then I know my second will be a sinch.

Yeah, I have one of those too - mine isnt so bad...

Its a nice size... fits me perfectly...

Its been cleaning up rather nicely... I am still sanding and finishing it...

mine was also not too pretty on the inside...

I should begin to paint soon... but I want to make sure its exactly the way I want it before I lay down any paint.

    ah, well... live and learn...
I bought it before I found this site...

once again I will say I HATE EBAY!

You're definitely gonna have to coat the inside, unless you like having a reeeeally itchy head
Not sure what I'd recommend. . . maybe one of those rubberized paints? The ones you use to put "grippy" surfaces on tools?
    Anybody else have any ideas?

On covering the inside, I was planning on using a kind of helmet foam to line the entire inside and cover that in a type of cloth. My original intent was to build a voice amp mic into the helmet but I'll probably do that for my second one.

Uh......Deadbolt wasn't the one who got screwed.....I WAS! I talked deadbolt out of buying that helmet. Hey Beagle, can you send a mail to amiadfilter asking him to send me, Cookiemongoloid, all of the parts he OWE'S me. Thanks.

By the way, I am glad you did not have to suffer the horrific ordeal I had to, buying from amiadfilter. Cheers!

Pretty good point But on the flip side, anyone who's trying to keep their OWN feedback rating tidy, wouldn't want to risk a retaliatory negative feedback from this jack. A double edged sword, indeed

While his helmet might not be so bad, us geeks that have been spoiled on TDH made helmets will tell you his helmet is very very bad in comparison, might as well spent just a little more for a better canvas.

I totally understand, but if nobody ever leaves NEG. feed-back, this is going to keep happening. Come on, somebody have a pair and leave this guy what he deserves!

Just out of curiosity, why did we dig this out of the dungeons. Amiadfilter sucks and lets leave it at that. But on the flip side one of his helmets can be made into something with work.

Granted, for what it costs you can get an MS3 or BM bucket with less than half the cleanup job, but I didn't know any better.

FP that is exactly what i think...that is a problem with ebay. I wish they would figure out a better feedback system.

    Re: amiadfilter strikes again!

In my case I didn't think it was bad until I found other helmets to compare it to. By that time I had already left feedback and like others have said, maintaining your score on eBay is important to some when dealing with the possibility of retaliatory feedback.

And might I add it is an individual's responsibility to research before buying. Of course taking one's own advice I would hope that future purchases are wisely made >.< But hindsight is 20/20

What's the big deal with 100% It's not like you get anything from it. As I said before, I've probably done close to 175 transactions on ebay (buying and selling) I have three NEG. from sellers that outright screwed me and then left NEG, feed-back on top of it because I told the truth. Again 100% positive gets you what? I feel good knowing I exposed those a$$whipes for who they were, so I have 99.8 % out of 175 WHOA nobody deal with me I might screw you too!

Yes, what is the obsession with keeping a 100% feedback rating on eBay???
If you get less than 100% is that going to affect your credit rating or something?
Are masked marauders going to kick in your front door some night and pistol whip you?
    I just don't get it I guess.

    Re: amiadfilter strikes again!

When I search for an item to buy (not necessarily Fett-related), and several sellers offer that item for the same price, I use feedback as a way to measure a seller's credibility. For instance, if a seller consistently misspells words or insults buyers for leaving derogatory feedback, I stay away from that seller.

And I usually trust 100% sellers first (so that I don't have to read the others), so it helps to keep that percentage high...especially if you're selling on eBay as a business.

There are sellers that receive an unusual amount of negative feedback due to clueless, uneducated or uninformed buyers, depending on the category of the sellers' items ("I thought this was for a XBox, not a Playstation- what's the difference?"). I don't hold that particular feedback against them, but then again, I tend not to buy anything from eBay unless I know exactly what I'm getting. When in doubt, it never hurts to send the seller an E-mail for more information.

In summary, if you're just buying things from time to time on eBay, 100%feedback is probably not that important. But if you're a seller, your rating can set expectations for your customers.

Guys! Somebody needs to body slam this guys shoty quality and keep others from getting burned! Otherwise, what's the point of learinging the lesson? To just keep learning it over and over and over again? Don't worry about the negative feedback thing, it doesn't mean squat! For Instance, a couple of weeks ago I won an auction for a low number 12" HELLBOY action figure from SideShow Collectibles for $29.00 bucks, not bad since they dont make them any more and they usually go for double that! But, then the Seller ( pinkeeleo ) wants to charge me $18.00 dollars to ship it from NY to WI, COME ON! This thing doesn't even weigh a pound! What a friggin joke! So I told the seller he was trying to gough on the shpping end of things, because the figure went for alot less than they anticipated! So they leave me negative feedback, call me a deadbeat and that I should be blacklisted! So I look at the seller's feedback history and the next transaction they sold to another buyer got negative feedback and now it says that seller isn't even a user anymore. This all just happened in the last two weeks. So my point is, someone goes to look at my feedback and it's spotless and everbody else is singing my praises, then you see this one blemish, who care's! It's the other guy that looks like an idiot that's smokin' crack!!!

YOU GOTTA GO AHEAD AND DO WHAT YOU CAN TO, BRING THIS GUY DOWN!!!

True. I'll glady take a hit to my feedback to leave a rotten seller a negative. In fact I have and yes they do leave retaliatory feedback.

Oh, I completely agree with you on those points. I will look at the feedback rating of a seller before I buy something, and if it doesn't give me a "warm fuzzy", then I'll pass on the auction.
But say it's something I want, and they have a 98.3% instead of 100%, I'll probably still bid. The total number of transactions figures into this too.

I know it seems that neagtive feedback means very little. But much like Batninja, I use rank sellers based off of that. And when you are like me, and hardly use ebay at all, one negative would KILL ME. That's why I try to warn people here. Besides, Ebay for some strange reason wouldn't let me leave feedback on amiadfilter (I gave him a month to send the stuff), so after a month, it pretty much expired, and acted like it never existed.

I can see your point when you don't have a ton of feedback. A negative would hurt.

I think it's 45 days. After that you can't leave feedback.

I wish I had read this post a few months ago before buying a bucket from Amiadfilter. This was my first bucket purchase and I didn't really have anything to compare the quality to, but it did seem rather sloppily made and not very good quality (very thin). Not to mention the ******* took like three and a half weeks to ship it to me. I had to send several nasty e-mails to him and he finally mailed it. I left negative feedback for the delay in shipping.

I was thinking about laying another layer of fiberglass resin on the inside of the bucket and reinforce with fiberglass sheeting - anyone had success with this type of modification for reinforcement and is it a good idea?

Wow, I just bought a bucket from this guy... I wish I would have known before hand... it turned out pretty good... I'm going to have to do ALOT of sanding however.

And the inside needs ALOT of work.

Thank fully he sent it to me quickly, but the resin parts he sent are pretty ******, I'll need to purchase those again.

My biggest complaint was that his ebay auction said no sanding needed, but it's going to take alot of work!

I bought a helmet from him about a month ago and as soon as I opened the box, I requested a refund through Paypal and eBay. He responded back that he wouldn't send a refund until he received his helmet back, so I threatened him with selling me an item that wasn't as pictured (He's now selling a (MS bucket with the seperate keyholes for the back). Basically, we all could get refunds and shut him down for selling non-pictured items pretty quickly. I got my money back ASAP and now I have the worst bucket I've ever seen. If it's not too late, send requests through Paypal and you can get your money back for an item that wasn't pictured. Maybe, if we all work together, we can put him out of business for good. Karma is catching up to him.

I'm not sure I could accuse him of not having the pictured item... it looks the same, except for the extra fiberglass on the bottom of the helmet.

I'll attach a pic of my helmet and link the auction, since it's over now.

    and here's the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...2965&rd=1&rd=1

GeekPastor, actually that is NOT the helmet pictured in the auction. In the auction, it was a Mystery Helmet with the attached ear cap, not the MS recast that you received. The item description states "This helmet requires very little sanding and absolutely no removal of unsightly seams. Who knows what you'll get from someone else!" - I would beg to differ otherwise. Be sure to complain about every imperfection in the helmet and list the reasons why this product is not the one pictured. You have every right to submit an Item Not Received or Significantly Not As Described, that's how I was able to get my refund. Do not let this guy tell you otherwise, he'll try to steal your money for sure.

Leave negative feedback and don't forget to demand a refund by going through Paypal and eBay first.

I just sent him a message to allow him to respond (like the ebay rules say to do)

But it looks like I'm back on the hunt for a helmet, and since I am on a time crunch and have a deadline... does anyone want to sell a painted ESB helmet?

I've been hearing people complain about him for over a year now, if those guys left NEG. feedback as they should have in the begining, we still would'ent be talking about this unfortunately.

I would suggest contacting SgtFang to get one of his Mystery Helmets. It's what I should have done and probably will be doing pretty soon.

ARHG!! I wish I would have seen this post on 11/22/06 I ordered one of his buckets to finally start creating my own ESB Fett and went by his positive feedback that everything was good. 2 days later a neg pops into feedback. I'm now waiting for it any word from amiad or the helm to arrive. Even though I only have 1 positive feedback from the only other auction I have done I'll leave neg on him if I have to.

Geekpastor, do you have any pictures of the helmet from other angles? It looks mishappen a little, but it could be the angle of the picture I suppose. Mine showed up okay, but it was turned into a Jango, so the seperate pieces worked for me in that I could reposition them lower to be more accurate....

Mister Fett 1975 did you measure your helmet? I though the same thing but the measurements were all very close, if not spot on to the Mystery Helmet dimensions on TK409's site...I think he just "redid" a mystery helmets parts as seperate pieces.

    Just thought I'd chime in.

Having seen a MS bucket up close and having previously owned a Mystery Helmet (I was Jango a year or 2 ago), it is definitely a poor recast of that bucket. Given the way this guy recasts, saying that he took the time to make separate pieces would be giving him way too much credit.

Anyone notice that Amiadfilter hasn't posted a new helmet for sale in a few days? He normally puts a new one up after the previous auction ended. It makes me wonder if he reads the forums here ....

I think i might have ended up with one of these buckets, although through a different route. They are a little rough inside and they do need a little work but they are not all bad. With a bit of love and care these can turn out alright.

Don't get me wrong though, this guy should not advertise them as needing no work etc as thats just a plain lie. But at the end of the day i was happy to get a bucket which i could turn into something nice. Just my pennies worth.

Has anyone salvaged one of these helmets? I'm curious to see if someone actually worked on one. I'm wondering what to do with the inside since it's all rigged from the fiber glass and coating.

I'm experimenting with it to see if it is indeed salvageable. I'm going to try using an 80 grit flapwheel attachment on my dremel and knock down the really sharp areas. How bad is the outside of your helmet? Mine needs an awful lot of bondo to actually make the dome smooth and not so wavy, as well as the areas on either side of the visor - they're indented almost. I'll have to post pics of it when I can get some more time with the camera.

I finally received my negative feedback from him. He said "Unsatisfied, fine. But you recv'd complete refund w/out returning anything!". I responded with, "I did receive a refund, I just want to warn others how awful your products are.". Hopefully he goes away.

So wait a second.... I'm no lover of this seller but if what the feedback says is true, you got a free helmet and you are still upset? Wow. I will admit, mine was not entirely what I expected when I opened the box, but it was a decent, inexpensive start. Like I said, I could go either way on this guy, but I don't think what you did was cool at all. I looked at the feedback you left him, and then I read what you just posted. I can understand being unhappy, but I have yet to buy any prop kit that hasn't needed some type of work. Anyway, sorry to be negative, but that doesn't seem fair for anyone to do that, even if you don't like a guy.

    Re: amiadfilter strikes again!

I offered to return his lumpy helmet to him if he paid for shipping. I have also had my fair share of props that have needed work, but this one was very unacceptable. I'll have to post some pictures of it when I get the chance. The reason I left negative feedback was to warn others that they weren't getting the nice smooth helmet from the pics that he "borrowed" from MS. As far as I'm concerned, the man is a thief in more ways than one. First, he recast someone else's sculpt (which I didn't realize until I opened the box). Second, he misrepresented himself and his product as being something they weren't. Lastly, he sent me a helmet with dents in the wrong locations (imagine a DP 95 left in your car on a hot summer day), there were valleys in the visor area and the dome looked like it had been hit with a golf ball a few times. Have you ever seen resin that looked like it was cast in sandstone? His resin pieces were gritty, the RF post was curved - I could put it on a flat surface and place a pencil under the middle of it. The inside of the helmet had razor sharp edges that my wife cut herself on when she first handled it. If I were to attempt to clean up his helmet that "requires very little sanding and absolutely no removal of unsightly seams", I'd probably be going through a medium sized can of bondo to get the helmet ready for paint. I'm not upset, I got my money back, I just want to warn others before they send this crook their hard earned money. Am I going too far, or should I try to warn others? I think that I may have received the worst of his work, but I could be wrong and have better standards than some.

What I don't understand is how all the newer members end up here at TDH after they buy from this jerk. Why didn't you find the Dented Helmet before your purchase? Does he include something in the auction (reference CD perhaps?) that points you to this forum?

That's been bugging me for awhile.

I was pointed to The Dent by Michigan Jaster (I think he just changed his name from Mister Fett 1975) after I seen his negative feedback after I already ordered my helmet and contacted him through ebay. I'm still waiting to recive the amiad bucket and see about refunds and what not if I get a bad one like everyone else(most likely I will)

I should have known better and checked TDH for anything about this guy. I'm just getting back into Mandalorian costuming after a small hiatus and needed something cheap and quick, basically getting less than what I had paid for. Now I know, and knowing is .... Well, everyone knows the rest of that one.

I got here by way of the 501st...

I decided not to leave him negative feedback, I just emailed him and told him that I don't think he should be using stock photos for something like this especially when the buckets look nothing like the photo.

I decided to work with the bucket some and see what I can do...

I just purchased another one from someone on the board, and I thought I could use this one to practice and if it works out OK maybe I can sell it.

I guess that was my point. (and I'm not trying to bash you, so please don't take it too personally, just trying to elaborate here) But, you got it for nothing at all and you still seem to be very upset.

I've read this thread several times over and I guess I have started to see things like this... This thread was started by someone that wasn't displeased with thier purchase (like me), sure they may have gained knowledge of better helmets out there after finding this site, but it has been other people taking the opportunity to complain that has turned this thread into what it is now. I wonder though, this guy seems to sell a lot of these helmets, but the only threads I see, good or bad, turn into this. To me, it's like those situations where you go out to a resturaunt and have a good time, then you proceed to tell you friend about it the next day, but all they can reply with is how bad it was when they went there. They don't care what you have to say, they just want you to know why they hated it... I don't know.

I guess (again to me) that it makes one look bad, especially after all the talk, that one of the loudest complainers got their meal for free. It just makes some of us (me, for instance) that paid for one of these and didn't think it was the end of the world, a little frustrated.

Again, my helmet took work, but it is still a wearable, accurate helmet. When it comes to props (mostly the resin variety) I have just come to expect they are going to need clean up. SOme a great deal more than others. Of course my helmet didn't cut anyone, but there was some sanding, and inhaling of toxic dust, involved too though.

In the words of Frank Costanza, "I'm done!"

I still havent recieved mine in the mail yet but with seeing all the negative stuff about these helmets its got me worried about it. I really hope that it is close to screen accurate but I also dont want to open the box and see a casting that has spots that look like it has sand or bubbles or something in it. I would like it to look clean with good shape. From the picture posted of one of his it doesnt look like it has the correct shape, like its too skinny at the bottom. But that might just be the camera angle I guess. I'm just worried that when it does come in that I open the box and get something that isnt worth what I paid for it just so I can invest more time and money just to fix it. I'll see if I can borrow a camera and get some pics when mine comes in.

LOL, It was before Sgt. Fang was selling the Mystery helmets and I couldn't get in touch with MS, so it was a **** shoot (we can't have a reference to a common casino game?). I'll have to bring it to GR this weekend. It's really sad looking, I think that I may have gotten an old helmet that was laying around because it didn't have that new resin smell to it. It might have been one of his earlier mistakes that he was pawning off, but who knows?

Well I too am a victim of this cat. I ordered one of his buckets two days before finding and joining this board. I have had to keep all of the messages to and from him just in case and I think it was a wise choice. My package arrived today and below is what I got…(Oh please keep in mind the following quote from the auction while you scroll along "This helmet requires very little sanding and absolutely no removal of unsightly seams. Who knows what you'll get from someone else!"

    Opening the box

Ahh the first sign of bad things to come..

    And it just gets worse...

All of the greeblies for the helmet were loose inside of it with no packing to keep the shape of the bucket during shipping.

Here are a few of the parts...

And then I took a few shots of the bucket sitting upright...

I am still waiting to hear back from the seller to see what he is going to do about this. I will follow up when I get a response. Oh by the way the helmet was paid for on the 20th of Oct and not shipped untill the 24th of Nov.

there has GOT to be a way to drive this guy out of business.

what if we all start putting up "warning about amiadfilter" web pages? google would pick it up... but that would require people google fett helmets first before buying.

Yes you are correct TK 7602. I am very new to this new addiction and like other newbies I admit I did not do my homework on what I was getting into untill it was a few days too late. I have been posting this and links to the topic on more than a few boards to spred the word.

I did get a personal email from this cat and sent him the above photos. I am waiting to hear back.

    ******Update*****

I just got a reply from him, and he is offering to replace or refund. Guess what road I went for? I'll let ya all know what his response is .

    Drum roll please..........

"Yeah, I just did a refund. I pulled some cash from a credit card.

I just wanted to apologize. I've been so freaking rushed these days that I didn't get it out to you quickly or safely. I'm kinda pissed at the Post Office, but you are right, I should have put something in there to stabalize things. I've sent a couple out recently that were packaged differently and no complaints there. Anyway, once again I'm sorry about this. Good luck on your next helmet. Thanks for taking it in stride."

So there you have it. After 42 days I am right back where I started.

WOW, I am glad I did some homework before I bought. Before I joined here, I was looking at EBAY, and saw this guys auctions. I also saw a lot of rubies, DP's, and some completed buckets that were a bit too high for me to buuy. So I started to look for sites on how to make one, and along came the dentedhelmet. I started to read some posts, and saw the great work done here, and joined. I tried the batting helmet approached and totally nuked it , then Sarge started a thread and I ordered one after a few days of deep thought, meditation, and looking over bank statements... then I bought one. I recieved it the other day, and it is great, can't wait to work on my first bucket .

As for this guys feedback, I can see how anyone would fall into the safety net of relying on it, nobody leaves negative or even neutral feedback. I do not always buy from 100% feedback, I have gone as low as 95%, but I always read the feedbacks left, and the responses left by them to others when neg. is left. Also, I always check to see if the seller has changed names a lot.

Now I am not intending to bash this seller, but I am also not intending to back him. It seems whenever this guys name is brought up here, it always ends up in a warning to others. So, all I can say is, Caveat Emptor, or Buyer Beware, and that regards anything bought from an unknown source. Do your research, and hopefully anyone who got a bad cast, recast, or whatever, can find the sources here to fix it, and bring it back to the great Mandalorian piece it is supposed to be. Good Luck to all!

I reported him to paypal as a non shipper yesterday. 15 days is long enough for shipping I think for something on ebay. So he has 10 days to reply to paypal about it so we'll see what happens.

Hey Mandalor Fett! It's nice knowing someone remembers me! I hate amiadfilter so much! I wish the most horrible things upon him. Well, if any of you believe in Karma, then we all know what future he is going to have. I have been out of the Fett loop for a while, (and all prop replicas for that matter) and now I am starting to catch up. I'm glad to be back!

Somehow this brought cold shivers down my neck 'Remember, feedback doesn't lie.' I don't think that I could trust any ebay dealer that claims this in his auction...

Well, it looks like negative feedback may have worked. Since the flood of posts from November on, Amiadfilter has not posted his POS helmets.

I know I should probably stay out of this. But I found this thread today – the same day I received a bucket from "amiadfilter"! Reading the thread kind of freaked me out. But the helmet's sitting next to me and, um, it looks fine. It's identical to the picture in the auction listing. And I expected to put some work into it. Plus, I got it in less than a week.

I'm sure everyone's justified in their complaints, but maybe he's cleaning up his act. I'm new to this and I don't have much experience with the better helmets, so take my input for what it's worth. Hope no one's offended. I just wanted to add my own positive experience.

Ok, so you are afraid of negitive feedback, but want to warn others against his product, and seek a little revenge. Here is how. Go to any current auction he has and post questions? Is this the same helmet you are shipping or pix of a sample. Is it a clean re-cast? How many hours of clean up requred?Has the interior been finished. How clean are you re-cast-heard are they are sloppy. People read these and if you have an eBay account can slam ever opton with so many questions about delayed shipping, poor quality, guaranteed satisfaction, most TDHers will see it and stay away

That will only work if he chooses to post the 'question and answer' on his auction, and I doubt he would post anything that might portray him in a negative light.

Jusy checked his feedback and he 3 recent negitives and some neutrals. It is very important if you've gotten hosed by this guy to post it! I have seen other sellers get booted, but it takes more of us to speak up, put the word out, and keep post on TDH alive with who is sticking to us, and who we should be dealing with! Sure wish we could come up with a Buyer Be Ware Listing like the Banned Members Listing on TDH. Also a TDH REcommends List. Would save most of us thousands of dollars and let us all "Be The Best Fett We Can Be"

Just did a little browsing on eBay and I see a new lister called "zombiebuddy" selling mystery helmets. It has the same photos and ad language as our old buddy amiadfilter, shiiping(location) is the same area. Out of 4 sales he already has 1 negitive feedback. You might be very, very, aware before making any purchases from this seller

Again 100% positive gets you what? I feel good knowing I exposed those a$$whipes for who they were, so I have 99.8 % out of 175 WHOA nobody deal with me I might screw you too!
I bought one of his helmets (now going under the name ZombieBuddy) and it was garbage so I went through a lot of trouble with him to finally return it and get my money back, minus the return shipping. Then a couple of weeks later he goes and leaves me positive feedback. I was really surprised since this gave me the chance to leave him negative feedback without getting retaliatory negative feedback, which I did. It probably doesn't matter to him that much because he will eventually just create a new account and start with a clean slate like he's done before. Ebay sucks for not cracking down on him for that alone, I complained about it and to them and they did nothing. Atleast I gave him a negative so maybe it will help out his next victims.
