ahhh cracks

hey i need help with something i just got a helmet from a fellow tdh member and in the mail it got messed up soo i want to try and fix it what would be the best way to fix a crack?? any help please and thank you

You might wanna take a close up of the damage, I can't see the crack or where it is exactly.

well i would but they are like invisable lol they line up perfectly so you cant see tham but they are there and i would get better pics if i could all i have is a camera phone but were a circled is right were the cracks are and is it saveable oi mean they go all the way thro os the a material i can use to fix it ??

Depending on the material it's made up of, off the top of my head, if it's just a hairline crack, it can be repaired with bondo and some light sanding. If it goes all the way through, some CA glue and bondo on both sides to cover it up, sand, prime and repaint. But since you've already decided with a new paintjob, I don't see a problem.

okay sounds good i will start on that right away ill leave progress

if they're just hairline and can be covered up by some paint you might be able to get away with some low-expansion glue in there and a little bit of wiping and sanding to get the excess. then a some bondo on in the inside. (or, if you have a few craft brushes you're not too attached to, gorilla glue it some pretty tough stuff, evenly spread a few layers on the inside.

Ive used just plain super glue for hairline cracks, then just touch up paint. Use a little bondo if it needs fill.

I would go with epoxy. You can find epoxies that are formulated for different materials, so depending on what it's made of you can select the right stuff. If they are hairline cracks then I recommend fixing them by trying to squidge a bit of epoxy inside the crack, from inside the helmet. If you get some squeezing outside the helmet you can use a rag with thinner and wipe it off before it hardens. You can also use gauze or something inside the helmet behind the cracks to strengthen the bond.

If you do get a bit of a mess of epoxy on the outer surface you can use a razor blade and gently scrape it off before it becomes extremely hard.

Just a thought.

JB Weld is awesome on everything.

I would go with bondo. JB weild has an 8 hour drying time and doesnt work all that great on smooth surfaces.

Epoxy sucks.

Dont mean to be negitive, I just know what works good for me from experience.

As far as super glue, perhaps super gel would be better suited for it is better to sand down, but all and all, go with Bondo, wait,
Super gel is the cheapest and will prob. work well for small cracks, go with that.
