AFFo$'s ROTJ FPH Paint Up
There seems to be alot of ROTJ love floating around the board recently, and since I finally got some non Fett related business out of the way, I thought I would get back into the Fett Painting Business and start off with a ROTJ Helmet Paint Up tutorial using my recently acquired FPH. I was asked to do an Ear and Cheek tutorial during my last RotJ paint up, so I will include those also in this thread. All paints used are from my Rattle Can Paint List and are applied topically. Anyway here's the helmet with the base colors applied. Next step will be to paint the killstripes...

Re: AFFo$'s ROTJ FPH Paint Up
Got the killstripes done using the new Valspar color from my paintlist. It's called Gloss Hacienda Tile. I like it because it's a little darker than regular orange and a little more accurate looking in my opinion. I paint my killstripes the old school way by masking them off with strips of masking tape, drawing the damage in each one with pencil, then using liquid latex to mask the damage. It takes a little more time, but the results can't be argued with. Plus, you're not going to knock out a screen accurate helmet in a couple of days, so patience is key. Now that the base colors and killstripes are applied I can start stenciling in the damage. I like to get this process done first because it then gives you points of reference on placement and sizing of the various dings, scrapes and scuffs.
The next step will be the light green scratches on the lower cheeks...

Excellent! That's the same way I do my kill stripes.
Once I have them all taped off and used liquid mask, I spray a clear coat onto that area
before shooting my kill stripe color. I think it helps prevent bleeding in the corners of each
stripe. Of course, that may not be necessary depending on what kind of tape you use.

Love these threads, it's been a while since a AFFO$ one too. Brilliant.
