AFFO$'s MS ESB Progress

I have the lower cheeks ready for masking and painting. I'll be applying the green later this afternoon and try to get some pics up this evening. Oh...and see, I goofed and had to erase!

Man this is lookin awesome but I am seriously going to have to see you do this in person because my lame brain cant get wrapped around it. And youve got a better lookin helmet in a couple of days than I have in two years.

I've started working around the dent area and have decided on a different approach to avoid alot of the 'clean-up' and help in speeding up the masking process. What I am doing is painting the green on by hand up next to the grey and silver scratches. Also, I am making little tendrils and stray marks as I get farther a way from the scratches, so that when I spray the rest of the green, I don't get a hard outline where I hand painted. Hand painting around the signature scratches will keep me from having to go back and fill in the little silver spots that always manage to sneak through the masking process. And now I won't have to be AS accurate with the masking process. Just as long as I cover the grey and silver of the scratches completely, I don't have to follow every little twist and turn with the masking agent, and they still come out looking accurate.

A helmet just isn't a helmet without the tangy zip of miricle whip salad dressing!!!! Wow!!!! That bucket is really turning out great!!! I'm really enjoying watching your progress on this. Great pics;)

I've applied the green to the dome and removed the masking agent from all the signature scratches. I had to do quite a bit of sanding to blend the edges of the hand painted green and the sprayed green, but I finally got them smoothed together. The results turned out pretty good. I then hit it with a coat of satin clear to seal it. I still have to apply some of the fine scratches, but I'm going to let it all dry overnight before I start adding those. Tomorrow starts the upper cheeks and visor area. I'll work on the ears tonight and hopefully have some pics of them tomorrow...

yummy!!! :)

what's up with the random SW items in the background? :)

I like to watch ESB while I paint...The IG-88 action figure has a nice profile pic of Fett's helmet (without the 'crack' in the temple) on the back. Good reference material for a Screen Version ESB helmet.

Damn lookin good bro! Makes me want to redo my bucket.

How many of us have done repaints on their helms after seeing somebody else with a better looking paint job?
