AFFo$'s ESB FPH Paint Up

Originally I had decided to paint this helmet in a ROTJ scheme, but after doing some soul searching I realized that the ESB helmet is just plain ol' my favorite. Here's a few pics with the progress I've made so far...more to follow.

Spent the afternoon and evening painting the Rangefinder Ear. I decided to strip it down and do it in a layered paint scheme instead of going topical. I'll add the hash marks and the 'DV:' emblem tomorrow. Gonna let it dry over night. It still needs some dustings with the pastels as well as the paint splatter, but I'll add those when I reattach it to the helmet.

I was gonna add pics, but can't seem to upload them to the site for some reason. I'll try again later.

It looks great! This paint job is an ESB hero or ROTJ SE (AoSW/C-IV)? I guess it's the second version because the 'T' on the right upper ear cap was not added... yet?

I'm leaning to ROTJ SE, but the jury is still out. I'm probably going to leave out the extra damage/markings until the last when I make my final decision. One thing I always liked for some reason is the black paint splatter between the dent and the killstripes. Would love to know how THAT actually got on the helmet.

I understand! It's always easier to add than to remove. I'm also curious to know the story of the 'extra' scratches and marks.

WOOHOO! Back to working on my own helmet! Spent the day putting the 'concrete' on the back right panel of the helmet. One day I will have my very own painted ESB helmet...One day. :-D

Great job. I'm working my way through my first ESB paint job and I'm mostly using your color suggestions, as I'm airbrushed challenged. However, I have a question and this seems as good as place as any to ask. What colour is it between (underneath?) the rangefinder ear pieces (that little strip). I can't really tell from the reference pics I've seen and it seems from various posting on this site that like everyone sort of picks their own colour: the red (maroon from the mandibles), the tan, the dark gray or the silver (aluminum) found at the bottom of the top piece and the bottom of the top earpiece. I haven't had much luck looking up the answer. Thanks so much.

Made some more progress on my own helmet. Added the pastel smudges to the dent. Applied the silver to the left and right mandibles, and got the light grey applied to the left ear...
