95 Don Post?

New Hunter
I've got a pretty nice 95 Don Post helmet in my collection I bought from Target waaay back in the day. Only thing missing is the POS visor it had...I had originally planned on replacing it with an accurate one and never did.

I'm wondering if its something worthy of using, or if I'm better off picking up something else....?

Yes? No?

They are indeed capable of fixing up quite nice however it is a bit of work and can be a pain. However no matter how much work you put it it will never be totally screen accurate seeing that it's undersized and not made of fiberglass. Also I've now put more money into fixing up mine than it would have been to buy an Asok CC but still less than say a bobamaker so there's that. It's been a good learning helmet for me though I would hate to have learned how to paint on a nicer helmet.

I forgot to mention that since it's undersized my head barely fits in without my nose smashing up against the t-visor so I'll have to upgrade eventually but I still would like to have it fixed up. So it's a cool thing to have but unless you have a tiny head not really great for wearing.

My first build was a rubies. Its under my maddmudder name. It was labor intensive but it cam out pretty good. Just stay with it your only limit is you imagination

Thanks Kcr7!!! Yes go for it man! Its a brilliant lid and a piece of SW history....will be a nice piece for ur collection as well : ).

For a long time, I had a 97 Don Post that someone had reshaped, installed new visor, and did a jam up paint job on. I kept it in my office on display, and it was cool if anyone wanted to pick it up, touch it, try it on, etc..

So, think about something like that for your '95, if you fix it up, let it be sort of your public version. The 95s (usually cream colored interior, instead of green) were the best of the standard bunch.

The Don Post standard versions can be made nice and quite enjoyable. Great practice for painting helmets, sanding, trimming, installing visors, all kinds of stuff.

But for trooping, nah, there's better and more durable (and bigger lol). No matter how nice they can be made, the standard DPs are still vinyl, and very subject to warping if you store it wrong (like on its side), let it sit in a hot car or attic, set it in prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, etc.. You don't want that to happen to your trooping lid!

My first helmet was a DP95. Small and no movie accurate but I love it. This a pic from my DP95 repainted 10 years ago. No the better and correct paint job but in this time looks great for me.

I got one on eBay like 5 years ago ,its small , but if it fits it looks great. I used it for a custom mando, what u could do is sale it , there's a lot of fem mando s that would be interest in this.I just put a visor, a little bando on the dent , and a metal ring on the bottom of helmet to keep the shape.
