Hey, I'm about to start on a big project as you can tell from the title. I'm planning on making a 32 guage "stainless steel" boba fett helmet. I'm looking for any pointers, sugestions, anything you can through at me. I am a certified Welder so I know what im doing. However, I dont know where to start. . .:cry
I will post pics when ever I can. Any help would be great, Thanks!

If it's Hand-Schaub you're referring to,his was metal,but was cast aluminum.

I've yet to see a steel one, stainless at that!! I'll look forward to progress on this. One question though and that is isn't 32-gauge kind of thin ?

32 guage is just thick enough that it wont bend or be to heavy to wear. I first thought about making it out of 16 guage but I have a Greek corinthian helmet made out of 32 and it's perfect. The only problem I'm gonna have is the DOME!!!!:cry

That was the part I was thinking of being the most tricky....You might want to look up Durasteel Corporation on RPF since he hand hammers suits of armor out of steel and might be able to provide some additional info. on Fett.

He knows his stuff about metal, but take anything he says about Fett or anything else with less than a grain of salt. Keep in mind he's been banned here.

Come to think of it,take anything "prop related" he says with a grain of salt:lol: As long as he's talking metal and armor making you'll do just fine....He's very communicative if he's in his element.

There was someone on here selling a cast metal helmet not too long ago, hefty price of around $750, but i know there was a guy that made one. search the threads for a metal helmet. i know he had pictures and everything. it is somewhere in the cargo hold because he was selling it.

very nice

You might wanna talk to METALBOY. He's a member here. I haven't seen him around in a while, but then again, I haven't been here much lately myself. He made a fett bucket out of steel, similar to the idea that you have, (come to think of it, I think he made steel gauntlets as well) Also, Megalomanicalmandalore made a very nice bucket out of sheet metal. Haven't seen him around in a loooongg time though. I would definately try to get ahold of metalboy though, he might have some good pointers for you. Look forward to seeing how your bucket turns out;)

I would like to see how this project turns out.:)

Btw my helmet and gauntlets .knee gaurds, cod piece ,and chest pieces were made from layers of sheet aluminum and the results were great most of all very leightweight armor. It's time consuming but all worth it. I'm anxious to make another helmet sometime soon.

just print of the boba fett helmet templates for the card board helmet and do the same but use metal instead of cardboard u can bondo or poxy the metal together
