    Yuma Photoshoot

Well... Yuma was.... sandy... an windy.

That is about the best I can say. We had up to approx 35mph winds and got sandblasted all day long. This is the first time I have done an on-location shoot, and I learned a lot. Unfortunately, the price of my learning was a lot of less than spectacular photos. Still, a number turned out ok. I haven't had a chance to go through them all, but I thought I'd share a few with you.

Oh my gods! I love that one of Boba losing the EE3. Fallling into the Sarlacc pit, I presume. It's now on my desktop.

Those are fantastic shots! The only issue with the fantastic Boba shot is that he didn't have his gun with him when falling into the sarlacc, and if he did have his gun, it would have been chopped in half by Luke's saber.

Great photos!! Wish I could've joined in on the fun yesterday, but I had to work.
I did drive right by there earlier today though on my way out to visit my parents. Isn't it the "Imperial Dunes" Rec Area off I-8?

Maybe he wasn't rolling along. Perhaps he was "walking" like he did a few times in the movies. I am not sure what else you would call it other than walking. Or maybe he used his thrusters?

Actually, I try to stay away from the more famous imagery as the discrepancies tend to become the center of focus instead of the costumes. Sorry, no "Look Sir Droids" poses.

I was going to be nice and welcome Ray (TK-5721) to TDH... and find out we've got another DSG member here too! Welcome also to Steve12201 - aka Mesa Steve! (DSG has too many Steve's so we have to give them designations! )

    Looks like an invasion...

Braks, each photo is a work of art! (No pun intented)

Those are some outstanding shots, and I would like to see some more motivational posters too. Seriously, can we get a 24X36 of one of those?

Actually, 3 hours of sandblasting removed a lot of my weathering, especially my white Caboots. They would pass for clean trooper boots now! Guess I'll have to go out to the back yard and "dirty up".

Here is "DETERMINATION" at 24X36 at 100 DPI. It is a 25Mb TIF file.

It is slightly different in design from Chris' but based off the original motivation posters.

The sinus problem I'm suffering from was a small price to pay for such wonderful pics.

Sorry bout that. We have been extremely busy but I know he is working on getting them together. I don't know for sure when they will be ready.

I meant to do this some time ago and forgot. Here are some select candid pics I took with my camera. http://www.swchick.com/images/Yuma/ Sadly, these are probably the last pics I will ever take with this camera as it is completely fried from the sand. Brak's lost his lens to the dust too

Hey thanks for posting the extra pics. I's interesting to see the sky get bluer and bluer as each pictures is displayed in sequence. And sorry to hear you both sustained camera damage in the dust storm.

    Re: Yuma Photoshoot

We had bandannas and motorcycle goggles to protect us from the sand. I seriously don't know how the people RV'ing there could stand outside in that blowing sand with no protection. We couldn't have possibly done a shoot with out that gear.

Beautiful SHOTS!! I bet you guys a still finding sand "everywhere!"

The wind blow sand adds to the realism of the shot!

    Keep up the great work!

I spent some time in Death Valley on camping trips and sand get into everything and everywhere and I mean EVERYWHERE (Places you didn't even knew you had).

    Re: Yuma Photoshoot

Thanks Ray, I appreciate that. We honestly had no clue that it would be like that out there. And we figured we could clean and blow out my camera and his lens with canned air and get them back to working...guess not I still find sand here and there from that trip, it is really crazy. Never seen anyplace like that but it was totally worth the trip, absolutely beautiful...hence I couldn't resist taking my camera out to take pics out there.

sand is a camera's worst enemy! As bad or in some cases worse than water. It can fry the circuitry and get into all the moving parts and grind gears, scratch lenses, and attach itself to the CCD. Not fun. The pictures are awesome though. Can't wait to see more!
