The. Worst. Movie. Ever. Made. - SPOILERS

Man, the way things look, I won't be able to get out to see this movie until every detail of the plot is spelled out in this thread. Oh well, I'm not the sort who cares about spoilers. I never thought a description of a scene or plot idea could ever live up to what you actually see on the screen. For me, I won't care how far-fetched the plot is, because I thought the first ones were pretty far-fetched as it is (not being a religious person means I find power of god stuff to be as far out there as easter bunnies - sorry if this offends anyone). I will make my decision on whether or not I like it based on things like character interaction, character development, and whether or not I care what happens to the characters. It's all about the characters. You could have the greatest adventure in the world, but if the people in the story don't influence the way you feel then what's the point? Raiders and Last Crusade (and to a lesser degree Temple of Doom) did that for me, which is why I did - and still do - very much enjoy them.

Alright just thought I'd put in my two cents.....

This was one of the worst movie I've seen in a LONG time. the dialogue was pretty stupid and barely any of the film had that "Indy" feel to it. When there was the atomic blast I just thought "what?!" I mean come on! If surviving a nuclear attack was that easy wouldn't people back then have just bought a few extra refigerators instead of building bomb shelters? And aliens just didnt seem to fit into the "Indyverse" (yes thats what I call it) very well.
ancient Native Americans worshipped people from the sky that some believe may be extra terrestrial beings
I thought of something similar to this at first too but then I realized that almost any religion believes that they're god(s) live "in the sky" (whether its outer space, heaven, or wherever up there).I've even heard some people say that angelic encounters in the Bible were really aliens. So speculation on aliens could go on and on....Maybe George Bush is an alien. I'm a Christian and I greatly enjoyed it more when Indy went after relics of Christianity/Judaism. Not because it had to do with my religion though (as there there are several theological misconceptions in the films) but because it simply seemed more like a real archeologist. In the other films he was more like "I'm going to get the Ark to put it in a museum before the Nazis get it" and this time he was like "I need to return the crystal skull because it told me to"

P.S. I saw this twice and the second I saw that cg gopher again I thought "why did I just waste $7?"

P.S.S. go see Iron Man

I can’t say this is the worst movie I have ever seen… I have seen MUCH worse garbage than this tripe but I can’t say it was a good movie either.

The other 3 I.J. movies had some aspect of believability even though the search was for magical/religious items. This installment just took it way, way, way too far. They surpassed any believability and/or reality not too far into the beginning.

Thinking on it the movie would have been OK had it never been an Indiana Jones movie. If it has been some random collector/archaeologist that found said items and said lost city and whatnot it wouldn’t have been such a horrible disappointment. It could have then been placed in the “Tomb Raider” movie category and left at that.

I do have to say that it was a fun movie to watch up until the last hour or so. Then it was just boring and predictable with an ending that made me want to pull my hair out.

The creators were WAY more interested in getting all of our money than they were into actually writing a decent plot/story. It was nothing more than recycled garbage wrapped up in too many unnecessary special effects.

It was OK till the end. What is it about aliens that people always have to use? Aren't there enough artifacts with legendary power that could have been used?

Then Shaia almost putting the hat one, honestly...I wanted to drag him through the screen and give him a good punch for even insinuating that he's gonna be the next Indy.

The second he picked up the hat, I primed myself to leave the theater. Literally. I had my hands on the arms of the chair and I was leaning on my legs ready to stand up.:p

My kids and I just got back from seeing it for the second time today...and we LOVED IT! Great to have Marion back! (She's still cute as a button) I loved the smile on her face when Indy uttered the line "There have been others, but they all had the same problem...they weren't you!". I liked the ending and the subject matter of the film. Since it was set in 1957 the whole UFO thing was appropriate. That was the Heyday of the UFO pics (Earth Vs. The Flying Saucers, The Day the Earth Stood Still just to name a few). I liked the fact that jokes were made about his age and that he may be missing a step or two these days.

Indiana Jone's movies have never been anything more than 'popcorn films', the acting overly cheesy, the bad guys one dimensional, the plots totally outlandish. But that's what makes them so enjoyable, IMHO.

Ditto, I muttered "Please no" or something along those lines... I was ready to just be thoroughly and utterly disgusted. I was very relieved that they didn't completely ruin Indiana Jones by doing that.

I enjoyed the flick! I may be in the minory but oh well, its what an Indy flick would be 20 years later with Mr Lucas on his digital kicks he gets on.

I too was dissapointed. I can't believe Harrison Ford would refuse to do another SW film only to sign up for that Garbage with a clear alien theme. Also what was with the "I've got a bad feeling about this." line!! I was so choked they wrote that into the film. If you don't want to play the part of Han Solo ya shouldn't get to say that line.
Just my 2 cents.

I have not seen Indy 4 but... just to throw you all for a loop, in the worst movie ever catagory...gory the key word.
I can't say what night it was, it was rather late, I had the tv on SCI FI and it was mostly background noise as I was sewing. I saw this atrocity: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120695/ . I took notice of it about 1/2 way or more into it, when I heard a familiar voice. I really was blown away by how horrible it was. If you scroll down on the cast, you'll notice our dear friend Temura, OH NO!!! :rolleyes Yes its one of the worst!!! I would not even say to watch it to see how bad it really is... just UUGGGH.:facepalm
Thought I share...

also is it just me or did KotCs seem just alittle bit too... clean?

yes I know exactly what you mean. Its the same thing with Star Wars the old ones have that gritty used universe feel. Indy had that as well and in this one there were times it looked like the classic Indy movies and then there were other times when it seemed to crisp. (the Vanilla Sky esque sunrise in area 51 for example).

Overall I enjoyed the movie to be honest. I thought Harrison did a good job pulling off Indy again for his age. I think it did seem a bit rushed at times but obviously there's a lot to cover after that long of an absence.

I also enjoyed the references to some of the young Indy adventures that was neat.

The only part that I wasnt too fond of was the whole vine swinging thing that was really lame. For some reason I didnt mind the Nuclear explosion.

Oh and why does everyone hate TOD so much? I love that one! I mean it was so dark and extreme. After he drinks that blood you really dont know how he's going to get out of it. I dont know I like that one a lot more than Last Crusade.

Forcebewitya.

Except for the fact that people don't tend to like Shiela LaPouf, or whatever that kid's name is, the hat incident actually makes sense. If you recall, Indy got the hat from wassisname in Last Crusade (during the begining when it's young Indy), so passing the hat is the appropriate symbol. It would be nice, however, if the hat got passed to someone who could actually carry the role.

I saw the movie for a second time and enjoyed it once more. Im not sure what the big problem is, its an Indy film and it felt like an Indy film.
