Trying to get an idea of who will be attending WonderCon in San Francisco, February 27th to March 1st. Here's the link to the site:

As some of you recall I arranged a dinner last year for TDH folks. May do so again this year, but need to gauge the interest level.
For purposes of planning please also let me know if you will attending, or participating in, the Masquerade contest. I know several people could not get together last year because of that.

I'll be there at WonderCon, Jon, but I wouldn't know my schedule until the time gets closer. I'll be interested, should have my Fett close to be done by then if I push it out. Still looking for my boots and wookie braids.
You know I'm already game Jon. Yes, I did book a room at the Marriot already from Thursday the 26th of Feb-March 2nd with Craig, Jeff and I think Darren. last year was such a blast that we have to do it again. Jon organized a great TDH dinner last year guys so make sure you don't miss out on this one.

That's very kind of you but you might end up with half the people here at your place
haha. its going to be a fun event. not sure if my fett will be done by then. so i just might get press passes and shoot it for the website i work for. we should definatly get a dinner or something going.

Yes, I plan on going. I can only stay Friday and Saturday night's because of work. I will be staying with Ben and Craig. I plan on trooping Saturday and Sunday, not sure what I will bring yet (working on another C6 suit). TDH dinner either Friday or Saturday night will work for me.

Jon, are we going to have a TDH booth this year?
For a number of reasons (the primary one being time) I am no longer in an official capacity with TDH for any PR activities. Perhaps the mods will chime in on this.
I'm gonna try to get to WonderCon this year.

Thought I'd give this thread a bump to see if anyone else is going to make this Con.
I have tried to go for years now but I dont think I'll make this one either. I will be off work then but I dont think I can swing another family trip to San Fran again since were were there for Thanksgiving.
Not sure about the dinner Ben. Still waiting to hear the final day/time of the 501st dinner. Does not seem to be that much interest anyway. I do look forward to grabbing a beer with you though.
im waiting for the press registration to open. Im going to try to cover some of it for work.

im a video producer for Vimby.com. we usually dont cover events like wondercon, but they are looking to expand into doing stuff with Vinyl figures... but they are open to a lot of stuff.
Reguardles of me covering it, i can usually get press credentials through them to go events/concerts.
Looks cool, but is taking too long to load (like 1 min per page) probably too much traffic (
I've been doing my home work, I know I can afford plane tickets. Still working on the hotel thing. If I go, I might just spend 2 days at the convention and then I'll spend the rest of my time exploring the city. I'm curious, how do you go about taking your costume to the convention? I'm not sure how taking my fett costume through the airport would work out, escpecially with that blaster... A friend suggested UPS. Any advice?

You will not have any problems at the Airport bro, I flew with all my Fett gear last year. I boxed up all of my armor and blasters (in a storage container w/ wheels) and they didn't even go through it there and back.
Most of us are staying at the Marriot next to the Convention center. they have plenty of room at WonderCon rates.
still on the fence with this gig. If I do go, it will be as a civilian/spectator. Too much travelling comimg down the pipeline in the spring plus further economic calamity in play will be a determing factor.
That's good to know, I was concerned about the idea of taking a life-like blaster anywhere near an airport. I wouldn't want to get whooped by security. But I'm wondering about the convention. I see that it's going to have lots of stuff for sale. The masquerade competition looks like fun. But can I expect to see a bunch of star wars stuff? I'd hate to get there and not find anything that interests me.

Dude, this is WonderCon. Just Google the name and browse the site, it will tell you everything that's going on. although it's not as big as San Diego Comic Con (it's about a 1/3 of the size) it's still alot of fun and there will be plenty of people in costume. If your looking to buy SW stuff there, don't worry they have plenty.
for any members who are thinking about going but are on a budget, PM me and you guys can crash at my place that weekend if you like. I have a large house/living room.
Im down in San Jose, and will most likely be going! Be great to see everyone from C4 again. And dinner, im game.

Cool, Dean! I'll be there at Rancho Obi-Wan and the workshop this weekend. I want to work on my jumppack but more likely have to repair my clone and calf set. Don't think I'll have my Fett done until I find the boots though.

The WonderCon is a convention for guys like us that love comics & artists, Sci-Fi/TV/movie memorbilia, horror, toys, Hollywood actors- autographs and discussion panels, gaming, and costuming...in a nut shell

It a convention that hat has been going on in the SF Bay area for years.
It is run by the same people that run Comic Con. It's just a much smaller scale. Here is a photo from 2006. I am the Clone on the far left...

UPDATE Mark Hamill & Carrie Fisher will be doing a signing session Sat 11-6pm and Sun 11-5pm so this will push the TDH dinner from 6:30pm to 7:30-8pm because most of us will be doing "line control" and for those who volunteered get a photo opp with both Carrie and Mark afterwards at 6pm.

WonderCon is always nice to attend. I see it as a mini SDCC......
San Diego Comic Con International is what I recommend to attend if you live out of the state of California. It's Huge and I'll promise you ...You'll have a great time. So much to do there
Yes, SDCC is much bigger with more to do. Just depends on how much time and money you have. If I was making a choice and I had to travel I would probably just go to SDCC.

Just checking if you got me confirmed for dinner, Saturday at Chevy's
rly wanting to do it on saturday again? I know last year they had a movie premiere saturday night, so people had to choose between meeting or going to that. This year they haven't announced anything, but if there is another movie premiere like last year, would it be best to be prepared and meet at another time?
just asking because I would really like not to miss the meet up :P
The 501st Dinner is on Friday, so that is out, while Saturday is not a great night it is the only option for many. Guess we could do it Thursday before the show starts, but I could not attend. Let me know if people want to move it to Thursday.
Hey Anthony. I made reservations for seven people - whoever shows up. After last year I learned that half the people (or less) who confirm will actually attend. So, it's basically the people I know would come (including you). I figured that anyone can always pull up a chair.

My vote is for Saturday as planned. You can see a movie anytime but hanging out and having a few beers with friends that you only get to see once or twice a year is an easy decision for me. You have to make a choice and it's a no brainer for for me.
That's my feeling too...
The biggest thing competing with dinner is the Masquerade. Unfortunately anything planned on that weekend is going to compete with something else and people will just have to make choices.

I didnt see any fetts walking around this weekend but I did see two custom mandos. Were any of them from here? (I wore my TDH shirt sat and necklace all weekend lol)
Darren was there in his Fett, and Craig in his Jango. We also all met at the Chevy's on Saturday - 12 of us in fact. Sorry we missed you man!
The two customs I saw were made mostly out of cardboard. Not sure, but I don't think they were from here.

Attendance was good actually. Saturday was actually jammed. I think they said attendance was actually up overall from last year.
It was packed like Comic Con.
I was pretty worn out after a day of fighting the crowds and didn't make it to the dinner. I am glad that my seat didn't go to waste.

The Con was packed which majority of the time and acquired me to supervise
the 501st Legion booth all weekend.

Hey, it was my pleasure. I do wish I did not have to drive home so that I could have a couple of those shots that were going around.
Would have also enjoyed spending more time with folks. Seemed like a very busy three days.
