that was pointless. y the nooooo? 28 years later and that was the change unbelievable
it makes me want to punch babies.
Kinda stupid but not as bad as I thought it would be
Punch babies? Lol u crazy bro
Trust me, I have read and seen a lot more than this! Anyone see the scene with blinking Wicket? Yeah, ol crazy George thought the Ewoks needed to blink now! Also he replaced Obi Wan's dragon scream that scares the sandpeople in Ep IV with something that sounds like a drunk guy howling. And he made Jabba's front door RIDICULOUSLY huge. Just stupid stuff that didn't need to be changed. It's sad that we can't have the versions of the movies that stood for 20 years. What began in 1997 was a dismantling of classic theater. The versions now are almost parodies of the originals.

AND apparently there weren't enough rocks around R2 when he hid from the sandpeople!!

well that's just rediculous!!! guess it's time for a reboot with someone that gives a shiit!
You know one change that George made in the 90's that irratated me (and I never here anyone else talk about) is the change at the sarlacc when Han is trying to save Lando. Lando shouts "wait I thought you were blind".......in the original Han says "trust me". Which is a very Han Solo thing to say. In the updated version Han says "Its ok I can see a lot better now".
The systematic emmasculation of Han Solo, such a shame.
Han shot first.
I wanted to confirm something, so I just watched the vhs version from 1987. I'm not certain, but I believe the only change at this point was the addition of "A New Hope." (Someone please correct me if that is not the case).
At any rate, Han shot--end of story. There was no first or last. While there are a few very minor things that I don't mind change-wise, I would be much, much, much happier if things had not been tampered with at all.
Most of the changes are pretty minor and can be easily overlooked. However, the Vader scene is just silly, over the top, unnecessary, and lacking any sense of subtlety that it used to have. George Lucas: Prequelizing our original trilogy one special edition at a time!
But... Why?! For Glodenrod's sake! It's pointeless!
Star Wars would be even greater if George Lucas walked away from it...
Hmm. . . not too keen on the "No!" clip.
The Ewok eyelids actually make sense. That's something that bugged me about ROTJ. Any animal with an eye like that has to blink.
Have to wait and see about other changes I guess. :wacko
I really don't get why they keep updating them. The movies are already perfect the way they are. :doh
does the list go something like:
stomping kittens.......
kicking puppies.....
punching babies....
i have no words.....i mean i'm going to get it anyway....
Why the cg Jabba in A New Hope!? I absolutely hate the rendering of him. Ole jabba must have really started eating the cheeseburgers and fries with extra mayo after after Episode IV ' cause he is much to skinny in ANH!!!!
it was because they had intended him to be a human...but that wasnt right was it...he was in ep1 fat as ROTJ its not the end of the world guys
Maybe Jabba got on the Jenny Craig diet after Episode I. :) Size matters not! Judge me by by my size do you? maybe Yoda stole those words from Jabba???
Not buying this and this is a perfect reason why. Give me the Originals or nothing at all
WOW kenchan so ur not gonna buy it? Well that is ur choice me I will have these baby's at 12:01 thursday night even gonna wear out boba to pick mine up, don't really care to much for the change's but it will be nice to watch on blu ray but it's all about the bonus material for me 40 hrs, makes my mouth water lol!
chris
Lol, what was that? I liked the first 'no', but the second, long one... That was just a ***-moment. Ah, well. I still love Star Wars, with or without the changes. Plus, I don't have blu-ray, so I won't have to worry too much.
This upsets me. I am watching all of them in one sitting when they're out with my mate. I will walk out fora second at this point. :P
I dont know if you guys checked out what we posted on the TDH facebook wall but the 360 degree views of props would make me overlook the Noooooo and what not, Im also pretty sure there will be options to watch the originals with no added features just like the DVD's that are out now have two discs one Special edition and one original.
360 degree view of props? And the geeks rejoiced!
Yup...The Dented Helmet, LLC | Facebook check it out on our page
Just a quick note on the ROTJ Vader end scene video that has been posted, as well as the Krayt Dragon video. Those 2 videos were not taken from the actual Blu-Ray DVD. Those 2 particular videos that has been going around the internet recently, and are being shown as "clips" from the Blu-Ray" DVD are actually FAN MADE. While it has been confirmed that there will be some changes made to the Blu-Ray DVD version, the so-called sample clips going around the internet are NOT from the actual Blu-Ray DVD. (There is another YouTube clip that shows the actual change in the ROTJ scene that was supposed to have been taken from the Blu-Ray DVD.)
Someone even made a joke video in regards to the controversy surrounding the ROTJ changes to the Blu-Ray DVD.

Here's my 2 cents worth on the Vader scene..
:fettesb Lucas believes his new audience and possibly his old audience to be incapable of understanding the complexity of that scene. The silent conflict going on behind Vader's eyes that we all felt and still feel when we watch the amazing scene. So he felt compelled to add in the voice over.
He's basically saying, "look your too dumb and numb to get it...So here's some help idiot"!
Just my thoughts...
That's how I feel as well Christian. It takes away from the intensity of the scene. Did anyone else notice that they cut out Luke's pleas of help from his father in that scene?
George Lucas addressing Congress in 1988, to protest the then-popular trend of colorizing old black-and-white movies:
People who alter or destroy works of art and our cultural heritage for profit or as an exercise of power are barbarians, and if the laws of the United States continue to condone this behavior, history will surely classify us as a barbaric society.
In the future it will become even easier for old negatives to become lost and be “replaced” by new altered negatives. This would be a great loss to our society. Our cultural history must not be allowed to be rewritten.
Attention should be paid to this question of our soul, and not simply to accounting procedures. Attention should be paid to the interest of those who are yet unborn, who should be able to see this generation as it saw itself, and the past generation as it saw itself.
I agree with him 100%!!!!!!
Im pretty sure the original artist wasnt around to say they didnt intend for it to be in color...but he is the original artist and can change things the way he sees fit...its not your story its his, and it may flow better the way he sees it you just will have to wait and see
Whether it's his story or not, it stood for something the way it WAS. For nearly 20 years before he started screwing with it. It would be nice if he understood that. His huge fanbase was built on what those movies were, not what he "thought they could be." I am glad Fett_MD posted that because I remembered reading it somewhere. Why George didn't practice what he preached is beyond me. "In the future it will become even easier for old negatives to become lost and be “replaced” by new altered negatives. This would be a great loss to our society." If only HE had taken this to heart. He is a hypocrite.
Like I said Im sure the original will be available to watch just as easy as watching the enhanced...lets not string him up just yet
But versions of the originals won't be on the blu ray. That's been confirmed long ago.
These are his films after all....he will continue to tinker with them wether we like it or not :suprise
The "original" versions that were Included were not anamorphic widescreen and severely lacked the quality of just about 99% of DVDs that were released. They put no effort into those. They should have at least attempted to port the laser disc versions. Lucasfilm can afford to put a little effort into a project like that if a small B movie can restore their movies from the 70s and 80s.
Here's the really for real new changed super improved version.

While I'm thinking of it wasn't that burp by the Sarlacc added in the Special Edition of Return of the Jedi???? Trying to prove that yes Boba was swallowed! Not proving he was dead though!
Then I read this from Star Wars Insider... It is coverage of Top Ten Creatures of Star Wars and Sarlacc was listed as # 2. Well I had read this before but hadn't gave it much thought or I missed what it said the first time.
Here is quote from Star Wars Insider #102 page 45 describing Sarlacc.
"Perhaps the most unusual aspect of the sarlacc is its ability to absorb the momories of its victims, becoming semi intelligent in the process. Boba Fett is one potential meal who fought his way free before he could become a member of the sarlacc's macabre collection."
Thats all I need for proof the Fett Lives!
So Why George Why!??!??!
Why hasn't he spent more time trying to improve Howard the Duck?
Yeah, but at least then he wouldn't be screwing up Star Wars.
I see your point FFOD! Yes, Howard The Duck needs to be revised. Yes clean up the film images, THX the sound. Update the soundtrack and do a CGI duck! Maybe even a Special Edition Duck but have him get swallowed in the Sarlacc at the end of the movie with a burp and a Forrest Gump feather floating in the blue Tatooine Sky above! :)
Leave it alone ! One of the best scenes in ROTJ and he had to mess with it. No George NOOOOoooooo !
Now for some Good news.. Ebay has custom clips from blue ray.. adding some each day .. Star Wars | eBay
Some of the changes really arent that bad

Well just picked up the new Saga on Blu ray. I will have to check it out this weekend. 40 hours of bonus material might take a while for me to get through. :)
So...new screen grabs?
There is a lot of good on these new discs and then of course the unnecessary. Actually the extended celebration in Jabba's palace with those new little cg pets in it annoys me a lot more than the no. The no isn't needed but I'm kind of just done getting worked up. Picture and sound are excellent. I really like the book presentation on the set.
Don't really care if Ewoks blink or not, personally. Puppets > cg. Well, unless you need a backflipping, wall jumping, saber battle I guess.
Still have my laserdiscs for the heck of it, but a broken player and no clean way to make a transfer.
Watched Ep IV last night. The picture quality was extraordinary!
None of the changes really bothered me. Artoo's new rock? Meh, no big deal. Ben's dragon call? Ain't a problem.
I was a bit surprised to see Han drinking a Pepsi during Luke's lightsaber training onboard the Falcon, but I think it fits quite nicely with the scene.
(That last one is only a joke. . . put down your pitchforks and torches. :lol)
I think that it would've worked in '83, but since that moment is so iconic and the emotion is shown even with his helmet on. I think that it wasn't needed and took something away from the ending
I think I cried while watching a New Hope on BLURAY..It was sooo beautifuuulll.
nothing about boba fett in the extras??
Check out this.
Wait so I have been watching star wars all my life after episode III it pulled allthe loose ends of ROTJ together and then ol Georgie assumes we still don't get it ughhhh
But let's be honest it still burns a little on the inside back when Lucas changed Boba's voice to match his father
The original VoiceOver of Boba was by far the most bad ***...I still remember being 8 I had The whole trilogy memorized word for word scene for scene and every moment Fett was on the screen i was psyched then they came out with special edition and added a few extra Boba scenes like on a new hope, and the ROTJ scene that got mixed feelings with that chick he was hitting on
