Who will serve you? An important 501st vote.

The 501st recently held their yearly elections, including elections for a new detachment leader for the Bounty Hunter’s Guild. The person who was elected as the new detachment leader immediately stepped down which has triggered a second election and is the reason I am writing.

The leadership and future direction of the Bounty Hunter’s Guild now hangs in the balance and one of our own, Bob Gouveia, aka Webchief has stepped up to answer the call to service.

For those of you who are members of both the Bounty Hunter’s Guild and the Dented Helmet, I would ask that you carefully consider Bob and what he represents as you choose your next leader.

Bob is a founding member of the Dented Helmet and has served as a moderator of this group for nearly a decade. Bob has also been a dedicated member of the 501st for over a decade and has served in various leadership roles there as well. Bob has always done a great job of bridging the unfortunate divide between these two groups. He is motivated, dedicated and most importantly, a peacemaker. While Bob loves the Dented Helmet, he feels compelled to go where there is need and help his fellow costumers at the Guild and while I hate to see a competitor receive an injection that I know will not only give it new life, but renewed vigor, I can’t help but admire Bob’s tenacity and undying desire to serve his fellow costumer. Bob has wisely partnered with another long time TDH member who mirrors Bob’s level-headedness and willingness to serve both communities. That running partner is Bill Warren, aka Asok. As many of you know, Bill served on our staff for many years and is still serving the 501st in various ways.

Bob and Bill are exactly the kind of leadership the BHG needs. They are energetic and enthusiastic, yet humble and thoughtful. They are not filled with pride or bravado and they see great value in our community as well as the 501st. Most importantly, they have a desire to serve. They are leaders in the truest sense of the word and it has been my privilege to work with both of them throughout the last decade and you, as BHG members would be very blessed to have them serving your community.

To those of you who are 501st/Bounty Hunter’s Guild members, who will you choose to serve you? Despite the recent spurning, I still very much care for the members of the Bounty Hunter’s Guild. Within the votes you cast during the question of whether or not to partner with TDH, it was clear that the vast majority of you were looking for change and looking for something new. While a partnership with TDH is off the table, Bob Gouveia and Bill Warren ARE that change that you were looking for. They are your best hope for a bright future and a thriving detachment, free of continued strife between our two communities, and free of the unfounded xenophobic fear we see in others.

Vote Bob. Vote Bill. Vote for leaders of men , tried and tested servants of your community, and peacemakers between TDH and the BHG.

Voting begins Thursday at the 501st Legion Boards. I would encourage all 501st/Guild members to vote for Bob, even if you don't currently frequent that site as your vote will change the course of the future of that community.

Thanks, Terry. It had to go through a number of iterations to be that "diplomatic." Trust me... the first revision was much less so...

Hi to all my Bounty Hunters brothers, thanks to TDH (I received all the advices, helps and others to build my Jango costume) I am active member of 501 as BH-7346 since 2011, here in The Dented helmet is the best place to build a Bounty Hunter costume, I never like the BOUNTY HUNTER GUILD website, why? 1) no friendship, 2) is a desert, 3) nobody wants to help with heart, and 4) as said Art Andrews somekind of xenophobic......

The Dented helmet, had, have and will have, the best people to help and create the best enviroment to create the best costumes!!!!!!!!!

The BHG needs changes. hell yeah!!!!!!!!!!but THD takes more distance in all the ways from BHG and for that BHG must take a lot of work, love and time to reach THD and been a good place.

for now, I still as TDH member and I will see from distance the BHG evolution.........................

with all my respect, thanks

I was all for Paul H (Daetrin on 501st boards) for the DL as i know he has taken a few detachments and fixed em up great...but now with Bob running...man it makes it tough! I feel both would lead well..but i do think Bob has more of a BH background beinjg so prominent here and there...so i think i may have been swayed! :D

I would vote for bob if the BHG would send me a password reset. I haven't been able to log in for 3 months.

Can't stress the significance of this point enough. Bob bleeds Bounty Hunters (no seriously, I cut him once, and Zuckuss started oozing out...), and has been an integral part of the bounty hunter game for over a decade. In that time he has not only proven himself a leader, but proven himself to be someone who has a keen knowledge for this specific area of fandom. He knows the characters. He knows the communities... He is deeply respected all the way around... and, if that weren't enough, he has Bill at his side who is no slouch himself. Bill has many of the same qualities Bob has and the two have worked together to great success in the past. They are the closest thing you will ever get to a dynamic duo of Bounty Hunter synergy.

Pedro, you are right. The BHG will never be TDH, even with Bob at the reigns, but the fact that they will always live in our shadow doesn't mean they don't deserve a great leader to be a lightning rod for their community.

Thing is TDH isnt the BHG, not everyone here is 501st, and not everyone knows the ins and outs of the costuming guildlines they have in place. But the BHG site is the place for that. A up and coming BH can go there to learn what they need to get approval. TDH can be used for references and such but it doesnt have the guildlines for the 501st. So they both have their place. And like Art said they need a good leader maybe a revamp on the site...I personally think its over due. The site looks out dated and boring. Hopefully with a new sherrif they will liven it up. Put it on the map so to speak and people will use both resources to the fullest.

it works for me......I think you have to be signed up on the detachment for the link to go through, other wise it sends you to a log in screen

Only 501st members with an approved bounty hunter of some kind can vote. It's this way in all the detatchments.
