are you sure its even coming out the 6th?
I have not been so constantly let down by a movie in my life!!! I seen it was coming out Feb 6th finally!!!! So I checked to see if it was going to come out in my city.......nope...I expected this though..... so I checked the next biggest city about 30miles away.....Nada!!!! So it looked like I was going to go to our state capital city, Indianapolis... guess what??? its not showing in my state at all!!!! 41 cities ....thats it!!!!
if you live in these states your in luck!!
*Austin, TX (1 screen)
*Chicago, IL (3 screens)
*Houston, TX (3 screens)
*Los Angeles, CA (10 screens)
*New York, NY (10 screens)
*Philadelphia, PA (5 screens)
*San Francisco, CA (6 screens)
*Seattle, WA (3 screens)
I guess there is always dvd......
That is SO wrong. The biggest possible trooping movie Ever ( except for star wars) and it's not even coming out????? except in a few theatres?????? What are they thinking???? Who is in promotions??? they could be cleaning up on the free media exposure. WOW
To me, this looks like payback, to all the Star Wars fans that gathered in protest to get the original movie with the cancer plot, that we all had a glimpse of at CIV (for those that went) or seen or read about on the web.
It's like "Ok, here's the movie that you all wined about but if you wana see it, then you see it on our terms!"
I know that seeing as I live in a remote town in northern Australia, I have Buckley's chance of seeing this on the big screen.
And I'm not sure I want to give Harvey Weinstein my money if I only get to see it on DVD.
This movie is destined for doom, and it deserves it.
Wow, did I miss something? what exactly is premiering on Feb 6th?
Where did you find the info about where its playing? I'd like to find which theater in LA is the closest!
it's not payback towards us, they just doomed their own movie to DVD hell. they must hate themselves. I was wanting to troop this, but eh always next time.
Hey guys, film distribution is complicated. The film companies do not own the theaters. They have to sell the film to the exhibition companies... if the exhibitors don't want to rent the prints for whatever reason, then little can be done. Also, prints are freaking expensive. Not every film can have 2000 prints at the ready on opening day. For a film of this size and nature, this is a very typical distribution scheme. They are very lucky to have it this good, actually. Normally they will open small in some select markets and if it catches on in those markets, they can open in smaller markets. But it is extremely rare that this ever happens, of course. Especially for February releases. It is no secret in the film industry that what the studios perceive as their duds are released in February to get them off the slate.
Haha, I kind of want to go to LA to see it, but I am not sure yet.
Im only a 2 hour drive from LA, Im afraid that it wont be my money's worth. It looks good in the previews but I hope it doesnt suck like Paul Blart.
Exactly! Excellent point. And as chronicled in The Making of Star Wars book, the only reason Star Wars was booked at the Grauman's Chinese theater in Hollywood opening weekend is because the movie they had previously booked had its release date pushed back a few weeks. They originally didn't want it!!![]()
It's not even coming to my continent, so I guess I'll just stay home.![]()
I so don't care about this film anymore. They've put it off and put it off for so long... you know it's going to be complete junk.
The movie is getting a limited release on Feb 6th. If it does well in those cities, it will go into wider release. So if you live in one of those cities, please go check it out.

fanboys is going to be so awesome but i have not seen any previews on tv is it for sure coming out on the 6th it has been pushed back so many times =(
Well i guess LA it is for me then. Yes its been forever, though for me itll prob be my last time suiting up as jango. And its a good reason to suit up again seeing how im not 501st yet and rarely wear it. So if anyone wants to meet up in LA let me know!
I'm sure Demonoid will have it pretty quick. Kind of sucks that very few theaters will have it around the nation.
It's probably just a limited release, and will go everywhere later, or if it does really well or something. Those of us who are in those cities that are showing it, we've gotta support it so everyone else will get the chance.
That is correct VB.
I spoke with the writer, Ernest Cline today, and the more support they get for the premieres', the more cities it will be released at.
As a matter of fact, Boba-Phat will be leading the 501st Austin premiere and myself and some others will be heading the Houston premiere.
Go check it out.
Mercs has been invited by the producers to troop the Mann's Chinese Theater release. Our LA and SD clans will both be taking part in this. This is a milestone for us, and I know everyone is very excited about it.
Thats awesome Talon!!![]()
Let alone Fanboys, none of the theaters in my current area (New Lenox, Orland Park IL) Are even showing the Wrestler!
Saw the movie and trooped last night in chicago for the premiere. Great movie. Dissed the Fett a few times though, but over all great movie.

Here our my pics from the cast screening this past Tuesday.
The SCG was invited to the event on Monday morning. Very last minute. We were able to invite members from our sister group the RL (sunrider base)

I was hoping for at least a major city in every state.
chicago isn't very far, but geez
I hate to travel for justa freaking movie
and with gear.. ughh.. not happening.
huge upset
Nearest to me was Chicago, I think. Bummer...I was looking forward to seeing it this week.
I'm with webchief though...I hope it doesn't suck. Would seem like such a waste if it did. Anybody see it yet? How was it?
I saw the cut with out the cancer plot last January. (yeah it's been that long)
I personally liked that version due to the National lampoon-iness.
all i know is, i went to Mann Chinese 6 today early to buy tix and they said they werent doing a midnight show! but online it says they are.......i was looking forward to suiting up for tonight but now im just flustered and not in the mood
I'll be at the Mann Chinese 6 tomorrow to see it!
you gonna suit up? and what time? id have to be after 8
No I wont be suiting up this time, just driving out there with a buddy to catch the movie then party it up in Hollywood for a few hours, then back home! Will be getting out there around 3.
Just got home, very fun movie!!
*sigh* Alas living in the South has again kept me from a chance to don my gear.
I liked it a lot! A great Star Wars fan/road trip movie. I'll have to see it again, as I missed a lot of the lines due to all the laughter.

Finally got some pics off my camera. We presented Ernie (the film's writer) with a plaque making him a Friend of the 501st Legion. He's a great guy, and is a true fanboy!
