What's your occupation?

I'm sure I'm not the only one that's heard the stereotype that everyone who wears a costume either here or in the 501st is a "computer geek" or "tech nerd" although I'm sure their are a lot of techs out there, I just wanted to see what other occupations members here are in. I'm an Aerospace Engineer/Machinist programmer (CNC) and been doing Military/Gov work for the past 17 years. We work with General Dynamics, Lockheed to name a few.

what do you do?

* Not being in the 501st and proably wont be able to.I dont mind sharing what I do *

I am working for our local Coca-Cola bottling company as the company fleet painter and fabricator.Which means I paint alot of red and white:).We are a huge outfit witha fleet of about 200+ vehicles and I am responisble for making sure they stay nice and red/white.I am also responsible if the company needs any painting with the equipment and anything the "bosses" dem it needs to be painted.Back to fleet vehicles,if any of them get wrecked or damage I am the one who repairs them. Here lately about three a week are needing repairing.Plenty of job security:lol:
My responsbilties as company fabricator,if the powers that be or the mechanics need something "fabbed" up I am the one has to brainstorm to make it happen.
Not trying to read as resume( which I just realized) I have over 20 years experience in fabricating, automotive repairing, customizing and painting.
Which is why I enjoy trying to help others via here with their projects since I am currently not working on anything of my own :cry and dont have anything to work on.

I'm not in the 501st YET. Though, right now I am a Medical Lab Technician, which I absolutely hate, however, it pays the bills. But... I have a Mortuary Science degree and am seeking an apprenticeship to become a Mortician. I'm also a certified Piercer and do body piercings on the side.

Right on Mike, you and I have a lot in common. fabrication is my favorite hobby and I love a good challenge. although I don't get a chance to do that very often anymore, my arse is in a chair 8 hours a day doing more of the R & D aspect of the project. man I need to get out in the shop more!!!

I'm a tech nerd and proud of it.... acutally im a creative director I work in marketing and advertising. I make things look pretty and boss the lackies around.

I wish I were a computer geek!! I would love to be able to do all those conputer things. sorry to burst the bubble but the sarge works for the local small town police department and part time at Cabellas. Though I have degrees in psychology, Theology and classical art.

I'm an Infantry Soldier in the Australian Army, 2nd Battalion Royal Australian Regiment, 19 years. ;)

I currently am working for Interstate batteries. I deal with car batteries and auto shops all day long. I also like to manage restaraunts occasionally.

Theatrical Technician, Front of House engineer, whatever title you want to give it. Currently I run Sound and Lights for a theatre here in Arizona.

Lots of fun running around in the dark, making things up on the fly and in general entertaining people.

Up untill 3 weeks ago I was a senior technical project manager for the design and manufature of steel vessels, I was head hunted and am now working for a smaller yet more established design firm as a structural design engineer for off shore vessels.

I'm in the US Air Force. I've been on active duty for a little over 21 years now and I work in the aircraft maintenance field. My specialty is aircraft armament systems.
We're the ones who maintain the mechanical/electrical components of any weapons related components on the planes, and we're also the ones who load the bombs and missiles. :) Pretty cool job!

When I grow up, I want to be a cowboy or an astronaut.

Photographer, well wedding photographer to be more specific.
Not sure how useful I'd be, unless someone was having a Star Wars themed wedding.
I'd love that!!!

Part time graphic designer for a clothing company and a server till the company takes off and I can quite my day job.

My "occupation" is wibbly-wobbly.... Until recently, I had been enrolled in university (even though I am now over 40) and was working on my Masters Degree program. For reasons I won't go into, I have had to put my studies on hold, and I now have most of my masters degree time under my belt, but not quite (sigh). Anyway, if I was working in my field I would would be an archaeologist. Currently, however, I am a work-at-home dad of a four-yr-old (well, almost 4) and do various things like making castings and stuff like that for a bit of extra $.

We've got a diverse bunch here , that's cool. I am currently working in security. I went through a municipal police academy and am looking for a job in a PD. Before this I worked in retail sales as a dept sup. for 5 years.

Love the boots, man.;)

I work as a full-time painter on weekdays, and every other weekend I pull some hours at the local nursing home as a housekeeping aide. Not sure if I'll stick around the latter job for too much longer. :rolleyes:p

I have a 2 year degree in art/design and a BA in anthropology. I came close to being an archaeologist, but didn't want to go to school for 2 more years. I currently manage a fostercare site for young adults with mental illness. Challenging job!!!

I am a sysetms Engineer for Lockheed Martin Aerospace division. Specifically we design, build, test and fly satellite antennas for various space crafts around the world. Admittedly i'm a nerd. But a good looking, cool nerd(so my wife says)!!!
