What a difference a flash makes.

I wanted to show you guys 2 pics I took recently.
I took pics of my Michell Engineering sweeparm to show another member
I used a flash on some & no flash on others.
I didn't think it would make that much of a difference, but maybe highlight some areas and show the details a little better.
as you can see in these pics, I was wrong

As you can see, you can't always trust reference pictures.

For accurate pictures you need some kind of light diffusing white tent around your object and light it from outside through this diffusor. You´ll be surprised what comes along this way. :)

BTW: good shots you made!
 
and if you're shooting digital, adjusting the camera white balance makes a world of difference. the yellow cast in the non-flash pic would disappear with a little fiddling there.
