weight vs height?

I CANT stick to a gym workout. I don't think it has to do with discipline since in other areas of my life Im quite disciplined. I paddle and hike and walk and used to rock climb a fair bit...thats the best gym (FOR ME). But
everyones different I suppose. I was asking around buddies at work (they
hit the gym but know that I wont) cause I want to take 5-7lbs ish off my
midsection. The gym crowd told me to swim. Almost everyone I know had the same answer -gr8 cardio, low impact (unlike road-running), good for the joints etc. Swimming....thats my .02 ...now off to the pool to follow my own advice....yeah right....canoe trip up 1st week of Sept;)

6'1" and ~180 lbs. here. I should be more around 200, but... *shrug*

Another thought about the costume end of the equation -- have you considered wearing the knee armour upside-down? With the rounded part up. The way it was originally intended to be worn, and was worn in that one shot in ESB... That'd give you at least another inch or two of useful shin space.

I'm not going to give up and i'm sure it will take a while to get to where i want to be.
What kind of lifting are you guys talking about? i have a coulpe of bar bells should i do
over the shoulder curls and stuff like that. my weight is all in my chest neck and gut. my neck is 19" and my chest is 50". anyway time will tell.

i eat whatever the heck i want and run everyday

and i'm still my sexy 190 lb 6'5"

exercise combats every diet, but if you HAVE to lose weight, everyone's suggestions should work.

salads only get old if you use lettuce, now spinach based salads....mmmm...i have one everyday!

Great motivation for working on yourself! You can do it!

Not only will you be happier with your Fett, but your whole quality of life will improve as you work on your health. Everyone has a different body type of course, but we can all improve to some degree.

Steady....steady....okay really sorry for the Jar Jar reference. ;)

Good luck with your Fett!

You asked what you should be lifting, everything.

You can't focus on any one area and expect fat to just drop off that spot and be perfect. Ever see a guy with 6 pack abs and saggy man boobs, I doubt it. Fat comes off everywhere evenly (even though it doesn't go on evenly). I suggest working out your total body, doing things like squats, leg lifts, pull-ups, push-ups, etc. If you have weights great do stuff like curls, overhead presses, tricep overhead lifts etc.

If you want to work out and don't know what to do, I suggest going out and picking up a couple copies of Muscle and Fitness or even MuscleMag, I sugges M&F more though. Every month those magazines have articles on dieting, supplements, and workout routines. MuscleMag is geared more towards the hardcore body builder so at first that one won't have as much use for you. Also the internet is your friend, if you are limited on what weights you have and don't want to pay for a gym try looking up something called prision work outs (think things you could do if you were locked in a cell alone with no weights to stay in shape...nothing to do about not being raped). Also your local book store has a huge section of fitness books, many of which will have good routines in them. Flip though them in the store to see if they are what you want, if they are all stuff to do at a gym and you know your not going to do that then don't waste your money.

I also have found it's super helpful to keep a food log. This is a journal that you write down exctally what you ate, when, how much etc. It can be as simple as: 1pm cheese burger and a coke, or can be as complicated as you want ie: 1pm, cheese burger, and coke 30g protein, 26g carbs, 18g sugar, 350mg sodium etc. You never really relize how much you eat (or don't eat) until you force your self to write everything down, and I mean everything, if it goes in your mouth write it down.

Also plan your workouts, again I use a log for this one as well. It saves time at the gym (or your garage or where ever you work out) I know when I go to the gym "ok today I am doing biceps and triceps", I open my book and it says, "bicep curls 4 sets 10 reps 40lbs each arm" next it says "preacher curls 3 sets 6 reps 140lbs" etc. That way I don't have to try to decide what to do when I am there, trust me if you do it that way you will waste a lot of time and end up only doing the things you like doing, which of course means the easy stuff. Plus the log helps you keep track of your progress. If you are doing push-ups and you just plan to do 3 sets to failure write down how many you do, next time, aim for more. It helps set goals and achieve them.

and some people will never look exactly like fett. I am 6 ft 220. Wth my chest and shoulders I look like Power of the force fett action figure even when i went down to 190lbs.
That's why I decided to become Jango as well. The costume is a bit more forgiving not much though. I still look like a tank compared to our skinny vader.

IMO swordfighting ( kendo, fencing and lightsaber with the kids ) excellent workouts along with martial arts. in the end you are not just in better shape but you get a skill that goes along with it....I guess running away can be a skill to ....:)

anyway working with weapons takes your mind off how much sweatin sucks and how tired and boring it is. you have extra weight to move around and some light cardio. It becomes an addiction I warn you. ask Brad pitt, Tom Cruise and anyone else who has trained for an intense sword or lightsaber routine. It make you move or get smacked that's a motivator. Used pads, eyewear and gloves for safety.
