US Postal Service issues anyone??

Has anyone else noticed issues with the US mail lately?? Over the last 2-3 months I've had SO many issues with them, it's not even funny. I've had envelopes with my decals in it just disappear, or not show up for a week when it should have taken 2 days. It's literally been 2 envelopes lost, and about 5 that have taken over a week to get there. I'm usually VERY good about getting stuff out to you guys quickly. So, this is making my service look bad AND it's costing me extra $$ to re-ship the decals. it's like if you don't get PRIORITY shipping and an envelope for $5, it's a **** shoot.
I know my PO is considering chopping a day off their office work week to save money, in addition to raising rates again. Could they possibly be holding onto mail an extra day or two until they have enough going to one area?? Are there any Postal employees out there that could shed some light?? Anyone else experience this?? Sorry, just venting.....:angry

I work for Canada Post as a letter carrier so I can't really speak for the US post. However, I know that we would get yelled at if we held onto someones mail to save us time or to make the trip worthwhile. Even if we only have flyers for one house, we still have to make the trip to deliver it.

Have you asked the PO about this issue?

I am having all sorts of issues with USPS and canada post. I hope its only cos of seasonal staff and busy period.

I've had 2 items go missing since Dec. one other got returned to sender with 'undelivarable'.

canada post sent out an item in Nov and it only arrived last monday (and no it wasnt stuck in customs) - canadapost tracking said it left canada in Nov. UK customs/post said no item had touched down till 6Feb2009.

so far, all vendors have been great, except citizen snips - who has disapeared off the face of the planet :(

Maybe it's a personnel issue. One of our local post offices just hired a girl who had been a housesitter for us as a Mail Carrier. She's nice enough, but kind of a 30 y.o. party girl.

I can see a couple of things getting lost on her route in a hangover haze... lol

oh aye - theres taht; I got a reputation at local depot due to other local issues I have had with the manager and his 'efficiency'

I now personally track all items rather than wait on the depot to send out notfication letters. right nightmare

I have never had any problems with USPS with tracking.

True, but you can't track an envelope with a 42 cent stamp. To track it, you'd need to upgrade to express shipping for like $4.00. Most customers would NOT want that....

btw - all my problems mentioned above

2 with global priority int post - so WITH tracking. AND still had problems.

1 was with 1st class mail - so no tracking

i had about a 6mos stint in the middle of last year where every single package i received or sent looked like the local offices pet elephant sa on it. luckily, nothing sent or received was damaged but, the boxes were hammered. i made mention of it a couple times and it finally stopped. maybe i had a disgruntled ex working in back or something?

recently things have been pretty good with the exception of 1 item from canada. i ordered a helmet from gypsyboy and it took almost in 5 weeks in transit to get to me. he told me that it usualy only takes about 10 days to ship to the states. funny thing is, the morning it arrived, i checked the tracking number and it still appeared to be in customs.

i usually get my packages in about 4 to 5 days from shipping but latley they have been taking up to two weeks when its suppose to be 3-5 days. its total BS

YES.

I have recently had to deal with an expensive item I sold on ebay show up to the buyer as just an empty box. The USPS told me that if I did not buy insurance, too bad. They don't care. As I have investigated the issue to find out what happened, I am shocked to discover that unless you buy insurance, the USPS bears NO REPSONSIBILITY for your package, despite the fact you pay them money for their service. As a result, if a postal employee wants to take your package home instead of to the intended receiver, he is free to do that with no repercussions for the post office whatsoever. I am finding it all quite absurd. What other business works this way? If you take your shoes to a cobbler only to discover when you pick them up they lost them, saying, "oh too bad. You didn't buy insurance to make sure we didn't lose them while we did our job," then I don;t expect they'd get much business. Imagine a dry cleaner who told you there was a 10% chance he would ruin your clothes so you had better give him some extra money to insure your items will make it out safe. Bother.

Apparently there are two levels of service. The first level is the normal rate whereby if you hand over your package to the USPS it may or may not disappear completely before ever being delivered. It's a **** shoot. Your risk entirely. If however, you pay more than necessary, the USPS can be counted on to actually do the job you are paying them for.

Its an awfully shabby business model. After this I am going with only UPS for packages. They haven't yet treated me like a cheat because I didn't purchase insurance on something.

I have purchased some stuff from a guy on E-Bay did not get it. Seller sent me a replacement and it show up makes you wonder what going on with the post office.

I also sent some stuff to a guy in calif it took 3 weeks to get their

Maybe the post office is taking more than 1 day a week off but they are not telling anyone

haven't had stuff go south with usps lately, but i've had issues before.

lately it's been UPS. I've had 4 package problems in the last 2 months.

one got so bad it became a return to sender

i have had nothing but problems with them. The last thing I shipped was an ebay item which i sent out priority from NY to FL a month ago and still hasn't gotten there. In fact, when i put in the tracking # it only says its been accepted into the post office that i dropped it off at and nobody seems to know where it is. Pain in the butt! And apparently Ebay now holds your paypal payments until the item is received or positive feedback is left.

I recently ran into this phenomenon as well. eBay told me on the phone they do it more often if you have less than 100 positive feedbacks, but for the most part its willy-nilly. The whole thing is preposterous. They are insinuating themselves in the transaction as an escrow service. This is apparently due to the fact that they are bleeding cash from their buyer protection policy with sellers not sending items and disappearing. It eventually comes out of eBay's pockets. Unfortunately, their attempt to protect buyers comes at the expense of sellers who now bear all the risks with this new policy.

Personally I am trying to figure out why some genius wipper-snappers haven't seized on all the fallout over eBay's recent unpopularity and started a new online company to compete with them. It seems the time is ripe for some healthy competition in the online flea market business.

It is very frustrating i know, there is still a small package containing gauntlet buttons floating about somewhere that i never received from Halo1, he did send me replacements which did arrive....go figure :facepalm

Maybe the postal service is running a shop on fleabay with all the stuff that is going missing, or there are a few fett builders working for them...!:lol:

Oh and Lucksy31, i received my decals safely the other day, very cool (y)
