Well this week has been a bit of a shocker. My Commanding Officer wants to put me forward for a commission. I have only last year made sergeant and now I am suddenly heading for the dizzy heights of Officer status.
Second Lieutenant Curtis. Kinda has a nice ring to it :lol

Being that im in the U.S. military and dont understand. How do you guys go from sergeant to LT?

Normally it wouldn't work like this and you would have to work your way up the rank structure. ie Staff Sergeant, WO2 and then WO1Quote:

No probs buddy. My days of full time service are long gone :lol. At the mo i am in the reserves (similar to your National Guard I believe). As far as I know, you don't need a bachelors degree to apply for a commission (although I do have Higher National Deploma, in civil engineering, which is very similar). The route to my commission will take approx 24 months as i need to pass a whole load of courses, included AI courses and a KG6 course :dohQuote:

So are you going to go for the bachelors ? Over in Basra we were used on escort duties and guarding installations like the hospital etc. I'm not really an infantry bod normally as i'm actually trained on artillery (FH70 to precise). Then about 7 years ago we had the guns taken away from us and were re-roled to air defence. I have since spent the last few years training on the Lightweight Mulitple Launcher (LML). Its basically the static version of the Stormer HVM system. Sounds great huh, don't you believe it :lol nice system but has some really **** draw backs, i won't sound them out here for security reasons but trust me it leaves a lot to be desired. I have worked with some American troops whilst over in Belgium (near Arlon), they were great guys and I would, if i got the chance, work with them again :)Quote:
