Being that im in the U.S. military and dont understand. How do you guys go from sergeant to LT?
Either way congrats!
Normally it wouldn't work like this and you would have to work your way up the rank structure. ie Staff Sergeant, WO2 and then WO1
but Apprarently my CO seems to think that i have a spark in me and has recommeded me for a Commission. I am certainly not going to complain
Hope you dont mind me asking all these silly questions. I worked with you guys in Iraq and never had a chance to ask.
Do you need your bachelors degree to get your officer like you do here in the U.S.? Take it you have to go to some kind of officer school?
No probs buddy. My days of full time service are long gone . At the mo i am in the reserves (similar to your National Guard I believe). As far as I know, you don't need a bachelors degree to apply for a commission (although I do have Higher National Deploma, in civil engineering, which is very similar). The route to my commission will take approx 24 months as i need to pass a whole load of courses, included AI courses and a KG6 course :facepalm
So where did you serve in Iraq? My unit completed several tours of Basra (Sheibah Air Base) attached to the Regs there.
I was in the Marines for 4 years in the infantry after that I joind the Army as a Air Defense Tactical Operations Center Operator, and then went into the Army Reserves as a firefighter.
I was in the Army but with the Marines when I went into Iraq (long story there). I was there for the start sitting on the berm and went into iraq about 3 or 4 hours after it started. We had a few British with us in the TOC. But my Army unit had 3 guys go with the British into Basra with your ADA system.
When I was in Kuwait we had British units with us at Al Jabar AFB, always were nice to hook us up with stuff we needed. And always had time to talk and have a good joke ready.
Ive always liked to talk to people in other militaries. Hear how things worked and trade stuff. But ive worked with the Germans before, they dont like to talk to much.lol
I have an officer trying to get me to go to WOC or get my bachelors so I can go to Officers school.
Grats Jon...
Do I have to salute you next time we meet? (JK)
Very well done on being put forward bro...
Don't be silly Gav, no need to salute me......just call me Sir
