Ultimate Sith Edition Of Force Unleashed

So, when "The Force Unleashed" was first announced, I could barely contain my excitement. I totally loved the KOTR games and Republic Commando, had bought both editions of Lego Star Wars, and while it was a kinda iffy take on the film, I really enjoyed the game for EP III: ROTS. Needless to say, video games are a big part of what drew me more completely into the Star Wars Universe.

It'd been a while since I'd played a game where I could do more than just slash (as in Lego Star Wars), or set my actions to play out like an RPG (as in KOTR I and II), and I was really really looking forward to playing the game.

It'd been a long time since I'd been that excited about a game at all, much less a Star Wars one.

I bought the novelization, and the "Making Of" book. Did all sorts of research, and wated with bated breath for every update the developers gave.

Two weeks before the game came out, my X-Box 360 lightsabered (yes, I just made that word up) itself and died. Hard. I cried. Like a little girl....okay, not really, but I wanted to.

Anyway, I was living with my then girlfriend (now wife, yay!) at the time, and it was our first time living with someone else. Both of us were working, and she was going to school full time. Needless to say, not a whole lot of extra cash floating around, so we put off buying a new X-Box. Two months, we said. Well, two months turned into six months, which turned into "for your birthday", which turned into "for Christmas", which turned into after we move into the new place.

Well, July 1st, we moved into the new place. Got settled. I got a better job, making more money, and we decided today that we'd be buying a new X-Box 360 within 30 days. We've got the money, but we're being "grown ups" (how lame is that?) and paying off her school first. So, by September 22, I'll have a new X-Box 360, and "The Force Unleashed", yay!

What did I see when checking out Big Download?

Lucas Arts said they would have some special announcements at their San Diego Comic-Con panel and boy, were they right. Today they revealed that they will be releasing a PC and Mac version of 2008's best selling action game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed in a new "Ultimate Sith Edition". This new version will contain all of the content of the original console game plus three all new missions that continue the storyline of Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice.

This new version, which will be co-published by Aspyr Media sometime this fall, will also contain new costumes for the game's lead character the Secret Apprentice. It will also have new character models that will give players a chance to control classic Star Wars characters like Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Count Dooku, Jango Fett and C-3PO. You can check out the decriptions of the three new missions, two of which are set in an alternate Star Wars Infinities timeline.

The first of the three additional single-player missions included in the Ultimate Sith Edition is set in the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant. In this mission, Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice turns to the Jedi Temple to learn more about his father, and while searching through the rubble of the destroyed building he must confront his inner demons.

The second extra mission continues the story of The Force Unleashed in a new "Infinities" storyline that takes the Star Wars Saga in an entirely new direction. The level begins at the end of the story of The Force Unleashed and re-imagines the Star Wars Saga as if the Secret Apprentice had taken Darth Vader's place at the Emperor's side, becoming the most powerful Sith Lord in the universe. The story picks up as the Emperor sends his new apprentice to Tatooine to dispatch Obi-Wan Kenobi – who has been hiding on the planet ever since the events of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. During their hunt for the reclusive Jedi, players will also explore the depths of Jabba the Hutt's palace and encounter notorious bounty hunter Boba Fett.

The final new level concludes the "Infinities" storyline set up in the Tatooine mission, as the Secret Apprentice is sent to the planet Hoth on a crusade to crush the Rebellion once and for all. While on Hoth, players face Luke Skywalker himself while visiting iconic locations seen in Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.

:love:thumbsup:(y) was my initial reaction. And then I read the timeline for this release. Sometime this fall.

Let me repeat that for you. Sometime....this fall.:cry

I'm still getting my X-Box 360, and probably a used copy of The Force Unleshed, but I pose this question to you all...

Why, oh why, does fate not want me to play the newest Star Wars game in all it's awesome glory? Ever?
