Travelling to Star Wars Celebration Europe II from England.

Hi Fetters.

Just wanting to get to grips on the situation of travelling with the costume. I have travelled as far as London from Bath (2 hour train-ride + lots of tubes around the city). Me and friend are really keen to go in costume cause we know that whilst we're there if we don't have our costumes we'll only be thinking about having them!

I'm Boba Fett and he's a Sand-trooper. I have my costume in a suitcase, but that is a soft-fabric case, I'm looking to buy a solid shelled suitcase to fit the costume in to travel in the near year. Just asking how to travel from the UK to Germany with our costumes SAFELY.

My thoughts so far are:

- Fly & train : problems will be safety of costume in the hold (unless I can work out getting a large enough hard-shelled case), but it is the cheapest way to travel there.
- train : problems will be that I'll have to carry it and have it on or near me at all times, plus it'll cost a LOT more.
- drive : neither of us have a car so we'll have to work out renting a car and I'll have to get used to driving again.
- Other travellers on TDH : Wondering if anyone on here is travelling for the convention that is driving?

If you have a couple hundred bucks to spend I would get a Pelican hardcase, it's made of polymer, comes in green,black,tan. Even has air pressure equalization valve for on airplanes, their watertight to. They also have reinforcements for padlocks. The foam inside is made of little connected cubes that pull apart, which lets you customize the insides to whatever shape you want. They also come in variety of shapes from elonagted to cubes, with wheels and handles depending on size. I'm a big fan of these as we use them at my work( correctional officer).

I'd get the 1600 or 1560 series, google pelican 1560 and check it out. These are the same cases used by the military, and considering the investment some of these costumes can be, easily into thousands of dollars, a case for a couple hundred bucks isn't bad.

Hi mate, that is awesome advice. Thanks so much. It's more the hard parts I'm worrying about, because I can easily pack the soft parts in my Jetpack or take up a tiny bit of space in my hand-luggage. I'm not too sure on the sizes of this but I found this case:

I know they are not the cheapest cases, but they are certainly worth it, when you see how well their constructed you'll agree, they are the best. The larger ones even come with handles and rollerblade wheels on one end.

Maybe get a measuring tape and check the dimensions of the Pelican 1560 before buying it, I don't want you to end up with something too large based on my recommendation! Or worse, something too small!

Here's a pic of the pelican 1560 to give you an idea of it's size, the foam can be removed if you like, or you can remove it cube by cube to custom fit whatever you want to put in it, pelican calls it "pick n pluck", you can order replacement foam as well, not cheap, but possible if need be.

Wow. That sounds good! When it gets nearer the time those look the business! It'll just need to be about 15" deep for the height of the helmet + padding, then wide enough for the bottom of the helmet and the jetpack's length. Thanks for the brand name mate! Definitely helps! I am now spending about £1,000 on a new helmet, gauntlets, voice amplifier and now the case Whoops!

Great advice. Surely this would protect everything. My only concern now is clearing TSA.
