Tools of the Trade

Get yourself a set of jewelers' files. They usually come in a sets of 6 or 8.
They're very small and come in different profiles. I like using the square and triangular
shapes for getting into really tight corners such as the ends of the visor and the
keyslots on the back of the helmet.
They're relatively cheap. I think I paid around $11 for a set at Ace Hardware years ago.
Well worth it!

Do you think these will work? I tried looking for "jeweler's files" but could only find actual jeweler's files... which it turns out are pretty expensive, like a couple hundred for a set of high quality files. Which could be nice to have, except I can do the same job with these needle files I found:

Xacto X73610 Needle File Set: Amazon.com: Home Improvement

Thanks for the help though, give me your thoughts on these.

Bump, I've been busy enrolling in college and buying cars and being a good social creature, just stopping by to tell you guys I bought a visor and some t shank bolts and rubber grommets, don't have enough grommets yet so back to Lowe's, and I'm planning on picking up a light and a servo kit from SalamanderKing, if you guys haven't seen his kits they're really nice looking, and it's a plus that I don't have to go hunting down a machine shop to drill a hole through my RF stalk. Changing my mind, I'm not going the airbrush route, they're just out of my price range, but I've seen so many amazing rattle can jobs I know I'm not settling at all, it's a matter of fiscal responsibility is all. After I've got all the grommets I'll be cutting a cardboard prototype visor at first, make sure all the mounts match the visor, then using it as a template for the real thing. It'll probably double as a paint catcher after I've got all the technical stuff out of the way. I just want to make sure the RF stalk and light stuff is good, and probably lurk a bit for head harnesses and pads etc, but after that I'm painting this bugger, I've let it sit WAY too long.
