I dont mean to ask stupid questions but sometimes I cant help my self. I am wondering if a thread is the same thing as a post or is it something different? It says post new thread, so I dunno if that means words or string. I mean I typed this, and Im gonna go down to submit thread, click on it, and hope I dont blow up. I appologize Im not familiar with the terminology.

A post is a new Post on a subject or a reply to someone elses post.
A thread is a new subject post.
So to answer your question, new thread is a new subject and master post, a post can be either a new thread, or a reply
