    Those who have come before..

As our 7th year anniversary draws closer, and it comes to this time of year, I tend to think about how many new people we have here in our community who never had an opportunity to meet some of the people who helped build and strengthen the community they now enjoy. In this hobby, we all ride upon the shoulders of those who came before us in one way or another and I thought I would just take a moment to mention a few of those who made a pretty significant impact on TDH but who, for one reason or another, have moved on with their lives and are no longer active here at TDH. I applaud these guys and girls as well as all of those old timers who are still here for helping make this community what it is today.

TK1028 - Chris S. Chris named this community... as a joke. We were originally called "As You Wish" and he threw out "the dented helmet" in exasperation when we couldn't find an appropriate name, and it stuck. Chris also helped support a lot of the inital groundwork and rules for TDH.

Dustincropsboy - Dallas P - Dallas created the initial look and feel of TDH and while it has changed over the years, his influence has never left. He also helped make TDH a known entity with tons of swag, from shirts, to calendars, to hand puppets. He also created TDH's first logo, a Charlie's angels inspired silhoette featuring Jango, Boba and Zam. Dallas also flew all the way to Australia where the Zam costume was first displayed at an exhibit to take some amazing reference for Zam fans.

Pricess Nikidala/M-pire - Niki B/Cliff W - These two gave us a home, a software platform, and technical support when we had none. TDH was originally an EZ-Board group, plagued with popups, popunders, and pop-sideways... They moved us off that platform and onto something new and more stable. They helped us shift from a fly-by-night operation to a legitimate entity.

Hammerhead - Andy J - Andy was one of our early moderators who took the best reference we had to date at Celebration two and made it available for all who wanted it.

Bobafettish - Chris C - Chris was another of our early moderators, who really helped set the tone for TDH as a forum that did not put up with rulebreakers. Chris read EVERY post for years and also set a gold standard with his Boba Fett costume, that was the pinnacle of accuracy for a long, long time.

Tylerdurden - Dan C - While Dan does poke his head in here from time to time, he is here so rarely that I thought I would include him. In regard to infrastructure, there has been no other individual who has given more to TDH. I can't even begin to tell you how many hours and how many late nights Dan spent creating the underpinning for the board we all know and love today.

Rogue Studios - Lee M - Like Dan, Lee is still around, but so little that I wanted to include him. Lee set a new standard in paint for the Fett helmet that issued in a new era of painting accuracy. He really helped raise the bar and went on to paint the prototype masters for the MR Fett helmet. Lee has also been involved in tons of other research that has netted some major discoveries for TDH.

Boba Goat - Jason G - Jason was the life of the party and really helped to establish the community feel that is somewhat unique to TDH and present to this day. He was a blast to be around and absolutely unforgettable.

Secolfett - Like Bobagoat, Secol really helped create a community and family atmosphere here at TDH and then, one day, out of the blue, he stunned us all by positively IDing the cheek greeblie as a borden connector!

Natty15d - Nathan D - Nathan set a new standard for helmets with his MSH1 and really helped set off a revolution. Not only that, but along with Chris King, he took some of the first extensive photos at the AoSW exhibit of the ESB hero helmet that everyone loves.

These are but a few of the giants upon whose backs we stand. I raise a glass to them and thank them for all they have done for us and while their deeds mostly go unsung, here is one small thread to acknowledge their efforts and to show them appreciation.

If you can think of anyone who at one time made a significant contribution to this board but is no longer here, please feel free to add them here.

    I drink to you all!

Actually though, I'll drink to just about anything...

Seriously though. I know what a thankless job this can be. I for one really appreciate all of you have done to hold this board together through good times and bad. Can't imagine getting home from a hard day of work, and then working on this all night. Labor of love...

...and hats off to you Art for mentioning all of the folks who's sweat, tears, and yes, blood went into the board.

A truly special place to be, and a friendly atmosphere that you don't find on other boards. After a nasty experience while trying to get into the Vader scene (and getting seriously ripped by a vendor), I more than ever realized this to be true.

I haven't made many posts during my time here, but sometimes just reading a thread is enough to put a smile on my face. In think you all know what I mean.

    Thanks to all the pioneers!

I remember those days. Does not seem that long ago. I would like to say Thanks to Bobafettish. With him not living to far from me and helping me along my way. From helping me to put the armor on my vest to teaching what to try and look for as a Mod. To Goat for favorite line when we needed it most: "And that is why I feel lemon meringue is the greatest type of pie in the pie family!" There is one more person who really helped. I just can't remember that "Buddy's" name.

While we're recognizing contributions of early members/admins who may not be around as much, I gotta give shouts out to Trooper TK409. More than a few of us discovered TDH through TK409.com.

Good call, Rich! Chris kinda falls into the same category as Lee and Dan, still here on the very rare occasion but mainly pursuing other interests. Chris has indeed steered more people to TDH than any other single person via his fantastic website!

Wow, I remember all those names... and like most have said I thank all the
former and current members that always improve our quest to have the most accurate costume possible.

I'd like to add thanks to...
Bradley Fett for his site that inspired me.
Art and his Ref. CD's,and knowledge pius his photographs are awesome.
FettPride & Spideyfett for their constant improvements to hard parts..

and to new members like Gav and volkerc for recreating VERY hard items.
99centtaco for his leather goods that are amazing.

those are the few that come to mind but there are alot more..

and though I pretty much finished my goal to make a ESB suit, this forum will always be one of my faves.

Sweet! I initially intended this to be a thread for former members (man, that makes it sound like they died or something ) but we definitely have a TON of people who are still current members who have contributed to the board. I didn't include them mainly because I am lazy and there are so many... plus I was afraid of leaving someone out!

Speaking of leaving someone out, another old timer was Dean O. He set the stage for machined parts and ushered in a new era of detail and accuracy that has since been picked up by members like Russ Rep.

So true..... I've still got the rare shin tool rods from him/you , plus a beacon, stabilizer, knee darts. His costume really was the inspiration for me to do a Boba costume. Not to mention "Boba Fett, the details that make the suit"

Boba Phett was another uber accurate machined item maker of times past. I only saw him on a few times in '08. Still have his ESB Flamethrower and gauntlet darts....

Doesn't seem that long ago that I joined up either. All those names are familiar - even though I don't personally know them.

DCB - Man... I still remember him going on that trip to Aussieland! We were all so excited because we didn't have any reference pictures for Zam except the 2 or 3 published in books. Has it really been that long ???

Great thread Art. Makes me feel REAL old though!

I miss Caudill on here.... BobaFettish, BradleyFett and TK409 were the inspirations to all of us back in the day! Truly amazing costumers and prop builders who revolutionized the hobby. I myself remember modeling my costume to get as close to Chris' Fett as possible.

I miss the days of BobaGoat too... Jason was a riot and really brought a fun energy to the forums.

Agreed. BradleyFett was the only one making Boba armor in the beginning, when there was extremely little reference out there. My first set was from him. TUBFC site/board and BYOBF site were the only Boba costuming sources back then.

Being "old school" myself (10 years ago this summer I built my Boba costume, summer of 1999. Wow, has it been that long?)... TK409, Got Maul and Fettpride have all told me they looked at my suit for inspiration when they were building their own Boba costume. I take that as highest humble praise, considering what those three guys have accomplished in the years since.

Plus I remember seeing some video footage from Magic of Myth back in 2000 where some Sandtrooper guy named Arturo was looking over my costume and saying "that's a great Fett suit!"....right, SEEKER? ... and it might have been a year later when some chump wearing a Han Solo costume wanted to take pictures with me at Wizard World Chicago. Later he became known as JodoKast3. Both those guys are now in my circle of friends.

DeanO, well I've still got my jet pack light beacon from him sitting on my pack just like when I got it from him back in 2002.

Bobagoat is still around and hits the con scene. Just look for the party.

I've gotten to meet a good number of TDHers over the years, even back when it was called As You Wish, and it's been a lot of fun so far. Kudos to those who came before me and all the newer guys who have taken these costumes to a whole level not dreamed of when I first started here. Thanks for keeping this whole thing going, Art.

Although I'm not familiar with all of the names on the list, I do recall some of them from my relative,y short time here.

I'd like to thank all of them for helping to create this wonderfully awesome site. I'd also like to add to the list as well, as without these individuals, the board would not have evolved into the community it is today.

    1. Art Andrews ( Braks Buddy ) and Mirax. Without both of you giving all of us guidance during our initial days here, we wouldn't have gotten the fullest out of our beggining exploits.

    2. WizardofFlight. Without your templates, many of us would still be walking around rather naked. Your hard work and dedication to the community have always been high on my list for heart-felt thanks. It was because of Alans templates that I found my way to TDH, and then it was the membership here that kept me from leaving.

There are others here that have made a more personal impression on myself and other fellow Jango builders... BKBT, Cruzer, SEEKER, Asok are but a few. Russ-rep and Serenity for your machining services, the list can go on and on.

Every one of us, in some small way, have given to this community. I thank each and every one of you for helping to make TDH what it is today.

    Thank you all!

I met BobaFettish at CIII (after my friend and I tailed him all around the convention center because of his amazing costume, poor man was probably terrified) and it was thanks to him that I was steered in the direction of this fine place!

I'm so glad we followed him like silent assassins to that costuming panel, my life would be a lot poorer if I hadn't. Where else on the net would people put up with my particularly salacious Fett fangirling?

Here's to TDH and all it's fine members past and present.

Re: Those who have come before..

There are have been several who provided me inspiration over the years. 2003 was the year I built my first version of Fett. Mr. Fett, Seeker, BobaFettish, WebChief, Natty15d were all inspirational to me. No one more though than Art Andrews. He was always available with awesome reference photos and info and to offer constructive criticism. Personally, I just tried to post on my site what others had taught me, and what tips I'd figured out on my own. Glad people found it useful!

I found this site through TK409 as well... and I got some parts from him too! (vest, neckseal, pouches)

I think I'm lucky to have found this place and gotten into contact with great resources for parts, tips, and references. Thanks All!

Thanks to everyone here, because to me it is the sense of community that is most important. It's always exciting to meet someone from TDH. I've had highs and lows along the ride but I care about you all. I can't thank you all enough...before TDH I was a dreamer, now I feel like I can create anything. All of it comes from starting with building one costume.

Re: Those who have come before..

7 years ago, I've discovered a place on the net called "THE DENTED HELMET". A place where I found the basics of the HTML, message boards (or FORUMS), and a lot of things I didn't know at the time, such as banners, avatars, or even PHOTOSHOP. Since then, I've always called and I always will call this forum MY HOME. I don't show as much as I used to, since I'm busy with other projects, but always looking around to see what's going on around here, specially in RUNS and merchandise.

All of those names I still remember, and one guy in particular who was my inspiration was BOBAFETISH (Chris C.). He was such a good help to me, and never said no to help you out. He also discovered the accurate material for the Fett VEST (which I got from him and still have some left around). Art just said something about him: he set a GOLD STANDARD in his costume, loosing to him at Dragon*Con '03 at the SW Costume contest (we were both Boba Fetts). And BobaGoat for being the smile in your face with his antics and "wisecrack" comments. I still remember his "flashy-pinky-girlie-girlie" version of Boba at one time, which I forgot the name he gave it. Funny, regardless. Good memories, though.

With their help and input, I have to credit myself by being one of the first ones who completed my Fett in almost a record time...less than 5 months! And I'm still upgrading after 7 years.

Cheers to those past and present TDH guys.

THAT'S the name. Here's him at DRAGON*CON '03. The one on the foreground is Thomas "The Clone Emperor" in one of his first costumes,

With his friend from Chicago (BTW, the BEST BLADE I've ever seen since then)

    With Kenny, the ELVIS TROOPER

Eric R., "BATNINJA", with his infamous "STAR WARS KID" costume

And now classic GOAT moments at Dragon*Con '03:

Wherever you are now, BobaGoat, we miss you dude! (and NO, he's not dead)

What about WellPaidKiller, it was his ebay auction that led me here back in the day. His 1:1 displays were the best around back then.

Also what about JangoFettJr does he still post around here, havent heard from him since his brother passed.

Yeah I see him on from time to time

On a side note I finally found my info for my old email account an ran across a couple really old discussions with some guys about the original origins of the ESB cape. Interesting stuff we found that I totally forgot about, Ill see if I can dig up more info and shed any light on this
