thinking about buying from starfortress

does any one know how well starfortress armor is put together because i might just breack down and buy a kit

You should probably avoid doing that at all costs. I know other members with more hands-on experience with their "craftsmanship" and shipping procedures (or lack there of) will be able to give you the lowdown.

I, purchase(or any form of), and SFP (I will not say their whole name) should never be in the same sentence (again). sorry just had to say that..

I think you should search Starfortress and see all the threads about how bad he is

what Matt said, learn to use the search function, its your friend. Heck, search on ALL boards you are a part of for costuming for SFP or Starfortress and see what happens, LOL

aside from being a recaster, history of poor delivary; he is also a alleged fugitive from the US for some pretty unsavoury alleged offenses.

I post on several SW prop forums - SFP constantly comes up as a buyer beware. It is such a shame that his stuff is plastered all over Bay of E.

If u wish to give money away; u can buy from SFP. I would donate to TDH myself if I had that much free cash!

This prop/costuming hobby is certainly not one for the impulse buyer. Lots of people out there to scam ur hard earned money. My advice is read read read and research research research.

It's ok, now, with replacement parts from all over, most of which obtained from right here on TDH, it now looks like this...



and as you can see, the chicks (Melina and Jillian Hall from WWE) love the new look.

no, that was a homemade BB gun blaster, although I'm sure the SFP blaster probably would have looked similar.

has anyone had a problem with Boba Maker......not that i have or having (just made a buy of 1/2 the armor needed) just wondering

Bobamaker is AWESOME! I've bought my vest,jet pack, and bootspikes from him. It did take a bit to make and get to me, but it was well worth the wait. It was well made, decently priced, and he is GREAT about keeping in contact. I was constantly in touch with him, he's not afraid to give you a timeline and he keeps it. I can't recommend him enough. The photos above you can see the bootspikes and jet pack, but at that point I hadn't yet gotten my armor attachment on the new vest so here's a photo with me and weird al yankovic, where I have on my BM vest. And although I bought the gloves from a fellow 501st member in my garrison, he originally got those from BM as well.

Anyting Boba Maker anytime is awesome, thats as honest and crafted as they get

my god this is seriously shocking on starfortress part ,best place is trhe trash can for starfortress eh ?? the whole thing makes you look like your putting on weight ,no offense intended but seriously why would anyone go to recasters and alike when the experts are all here,ive seen better boba props on ebay then SFP dieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee SFP dieeeeeeeeeeeee.......

That is a huge loss of money, time, and added frustration.

No offense taken, I thought the same when I started looking at the details. I bought from them because at the time I didn't know this place even existed let alone makers like Bobamaker etc... I was originally looking for stormtrooper armor and saw they offered Boba, so I went that route. I have since switched almost all my gear which I have posted photos of above. It's still not on par with alot of the people here, but with what I had to work with, I think I made some good replacements and choices.

as just stated, lady, the above photo of the SFP is mine. The only parts of it still in use are the jumpsuit, knees, cod/kidney plate, back/collar plate, ammo/girth belt. (although the girth is about to be replaced) and the helmet (which has been repainted and hopefully to be replaced sometime) Most of the original suit they supplied I have replaced, and I can't say I' miss them.

There are many talented vendors here at TDH. Research, Research, Research. Make sure you will get what you expect. And get references!

It is always good to shop around, no matter what you are looking for to make sure you get your best quality, for the price that will fit your budget!!

Promlem too is with SFP there are no close up pictures to view his so called work ,however his pictures always seem ,how shall i say..i little dull or blured !!!!

SFP is pretty much the worst place you could get anything from.

They don't ship for one. It takes forever, and most of what you get is just shoddy junk.


Not worth the headache.

My best advice is just to pick up decent stuff from the people on the board as they do runs and contact people like Man of war, bobamaker, ladysewforus, loanstar, 99centtaco, ruffkin, and russrep-just to name a few-to get the right stuff first.

yeah everyone wants to order a starter costume, but if you want a good costume i think it's better to buy piece by piece instead of buy a full suit, replace, replace, replace and waste that money when you could just have great stuff right away

personally I cannot say enough good about bobamaker. I have replaced most of my SFP with his gear and i love every bit of it, of course not saying those made by other members here aren't as good, I went with BM because another Fett in my 501st garrison has his gear and I got to see it first hand.

Ive only order one thing from bobamaker and that was for his art of work boba gloves which i have now

I can chime in on the soft parts for SFP, they are not made well. The jumpsuit is made from a poly blend cotton its really stiff and just bad.
I took Slave1pilot's SFP jumpsuit and modded it as best as I could with what I had to work with.
There really are much better options out there, for soft parts as well as armor.
Do your research, the best option is to listen to the people on this board who can give you some insight. There really is no reason to settle for that junk and it is, that picture above speaks volumes all on its own I would just cry.
Sorry to see people so falling into that trap, just to get it done. I'm going on 5 years and am starting over yet again... be patient and do it right the first time.
