Here's a little side project I'm working on. I found this while rummaging through my hundreds of unbuilt model kits and decided to build it up as the LAO CHE Trimotor from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. It's the old Monogram/Revell 1:77 scale Ford Trimotor kit and required some modification to make it a little more accurate to the film version. First order of business was to cut away the kit molded cockpit and scratch build a new one. I am also replacing the kit main wheels and tail wheel with something a little more heavy duty looking. The paint scheme I'm going for is the one based off of the full scale Trimotor that was used in the flying montage and not the models that ILM built. The main difference being that the real plane had black deicing boots on the leading edge of the wings and some red paint detail on the wingtips, where as the miniature had red deicing boots and no wing tip paint details. Anyway, this is a fun little project and is turning out pretty nice so far...

Finally got her mostly finished...Added the pastel weathering and the control cables to the outside of the plane. Then I decided to have a little photographic fun with it. Amazing how a hairdryer can really upscale your pics!

I'm still surprised it took me 15 years to figure out Dan Aykroyd was talking to Dr. Jones before he got on board the plane lol. Great work, brings back some good flashbacks :)
