Hey guys. Just wanted to know how many of you are near to Palm Springs? The USMC base I'm stationed at is about 45 miles northwest of there, but it's the nearest "city" nearby. I'd love to meet up with some of you from the area and talk Fett.

I'm from cabazon/Banning. About 20 miles outside of the Springs :lol NO longer there, but thought it was cool none the less :)

A 'lil trivia bit ... I graduated from Banning High School there (if you are familiar with Banning, it's barely a blip on the map) . For any old time 80's Redskins fans, Alvin Walton graduated from there. I got to play ball with him when he came home for us to retire his jersey :lol He pulled an "Elvis" and built his momma a brand new house there. This of course is when they took Superbowl XXII. I think he ended up in the CFL :?
I heard those outlet malls got out of hand out there where all the windmills are (Cabazon). That truck stop you pass coming from L.A. to Palm Spring on the 10 fwy (The Wheel Inn / Hadleys) was where I worked throughout high school. It also happens to be the place everyone sees on TV from time to time that has the two life-size dinosaurs, seen in, uh, Pee-Wee's big adventure :lol

Yeah, I've driven past all those places tons of times. My wife is from Rialto, San Bernadino area, and for like a year while we were dating, I drove from Twentynine Palms to her house every weekend. We'll be here in Twentynine Palms for another seven months or so until I get out of the Marine Corps, and we'll be moving to where I'm from, in Albany, New York.

Banning ...that's where the Indian casino's are now right ? I know there is a lot of new housing going up there as well. I have some friends with property out there.
I live in Phoenix, AZ, but I am a pilot, and I sometimes fly into Palm Springs / Thermal. It's quite an adventurous flight into there ... it's surrounded by mountains!:suprise
Absolutely :lol The first one (if there are others now I have no idea), was built when I was in early high school. The Indian res is between Cabazon and Banning (these two are only 5 miles apart). It's a Morongo Indian Reservation. The huge outlet malls are right next door to the res. Phase one of the malls were built around the same time as the first Indian Casino. As i understand it, the malls line the 10 freeway for miles through there now :suprise I haven't been back since '97 :lolQuote:
