***TDH gathering at Dressing the Galaxy Sunday Nov 20th***

Just thought I would see if we might be able to round up a group of us to hang out together on Sunday November 20th at the display and maybe have lunch together as well. A few members are already planning to be there that day so wanted to see if anyone else might be interested.

Sounds like fun, I’m definitely interested.

oh yes...I think I may have that weekend commited to something, but this would be a good way to get of it if I can. I will try to make it!!

Is the 20th fanday? They said that Ray Park asked if he could comeback for another day. I hope the 20th is it!

OH, OH, that is also the very last day of the GenCon Gaming Convention "The Best Four Days in Gaming" at the Anaheim Convention Center which my son and I were allready planning on attending in costume. Maybe we could split over there as a group too. That'd give them a site to see...a bunch of Mando's in costume. Count us in.

My son and I were planning on being in costume most of the day for SoCal GenCon at the Anaheim Convention Center, but we'll change if nobody's planning on being in costume at FIDM.

I’m all for the meetup should make for plenty of interesting conversation and friendly banter, definitely in.
As mentioned early plain clothes no costumes necessary folks.

Dennis is a real nice guy. Have fun folks! I wished I could have stayed at the exhibit some extra time. Anywho, if any of you get more Zam pics, if you don't mind them being grouped together with mine and some other folks on a cd, please email me at zamiam@comcast.net I am hope to compile a FIDM Zam pics ref cd. I missed out on more upper body shots, cause I didn't have enough time to take more pics. I also had the problem of not being able to use flash which caused havoc to half of the pics I took. You will have the same problems unless your camera has coolio features. One of our friends had a night vision camera shot thingee which worked a lot better in the darkside room. I took video footage, cause the lighting was a better capture than using my sony digicam. You might want to use that instead. The 20x zoom on my digicamcorder did wonders in comparison to my digicamera The "not having flash" caused the autofocus to go haywire, and tons of pics came out like I was riding in a roller coaster while taking pics. I of course, can't go to this meet, but thanks to Maul Maus I went last month. It was freakin cool, the store owner asked me to sit in the x wing with my costume. (After 3 years, I had to take a pic of my costume next to the real thing.)

I'll be sure to make it down for sure this time for the meetup and I’ll pickup some better shots while I'm there of the TDH trio.

I learned a bit since my last visit and I think I might be able to get some better shots, which should help ya out with the missed Zam upper body shots you didn’t have a chance to get.

In addition I'm bringing an extra digital camera, which I got my hands on that should make for some excellent high resolution shots.

Well this may be a dual visit for me...Not just going for the Dressing the Galaxy, but im thinking of transfering to FIDIM in the next year or so......

Thanks Andy-Kun! I think we never determined how the upper chest plate eventually got hooked together from under the hood, so, if you could get some top down shots, and straight on chest plate and veil shots, that would be great, maybe some krinkles in the fabric might reveal some things.. who knows? I really appreciate the pics you gave me before, but like some of mine, they turned out hazy like a we were on a roller coaster. Have fun, which I could meet up with yalls over there, tell Dennis I said hi again and the store owner. I have pics of me in the xwing, but have had no time to load up stuff-cause of my bambino I know, I should have pm'ed Andy this message, but hey, anyone else who wants to send me their zam shots, I would be very happy! Well, I gotta fly out at 6:45pm so I plan on being at the exhibit probably bout when it opens and maybe doing lunch with folks around 1 or 2pm. And if anyone wants to wear a costume, that is cool- I guess so long as the exhibit allows it. I'll be in a TDH shirt and ummm, I'm a brunette now too

Have fun!! Wish I could make it out there again for this. Costumes were fine with FIDM. I think only weapons were frowned upon - that and pointing too closely at the exhibits!

When it comes to lunch - check out The Pantry (within walking distance even in costume) - But be warned each meal is enough to feed the entire Dune Sea Garrison! Okay... I'm exagerrating, but not by much!

Just a heads up, fan day probably won't be the 20th, but they keep changing the day so I honestly can't give an exact date, but it looks like early december. That works for you guys, however, since the exhibit is pretty uncrowded on non-fan days, so you'll have time to eyeball the costumes without a crowd. And of course it'll be easier to find each other, heh.

FYI -Our local FanForce is coordinating some events with FIDM for the next fan day. And we were told by our FIDM liason that it was Dec. 4 and that they are planning some big events. Don't know what exactly, but it's supposed to be unlike any other regular day. Supposed to be a great day for costumes though!

Well, just bought tickets for 11am- that is the time for the first group. There are only about 65 tickets for that time slot so I would recommend buying tickets in advance rather than trying to get them at the door if y'all are wanting to meet up in there. Does anyone know if there is anywhere to eat inside the exhibit? Otherwise, if you leave, then you would have to buy a ticket to get back inside and well, we plan to probably stay the whole day.

There's a small cafe outside, but I don't know if it would even be open. It wasn't the few times I went. They probably wouldn't let you eat inside the exhibit anyway as it's a small place with limited room, so there isn't anywhere to sit down and chat.

They do have a small cafe with pre-made stuff but the hours are rather irregular. However, since the cafe is "outside" the exhibit, you have to leave the exhibit in any case. To go back in, you need another ticket! So... just plan on buying two tickets!

There are a number of other restaurants in the area - the staff at FIDM was very helpful in recommending some. We went to the Pantry which was about 2 blocks away, reasonably priced and each meal is enough for 2! There were a couple others in the area as well.

And FYI - there is also parking in the garage under the FIDM museum. It's not listed on their website, but it's there!

I don't think everyone is dressing up. Fan day I believe is on the 4th at FIDM. That is usually a day where a bunch of fans show up dressed up in proper SW attire. I have an obi-wan costume, but don't think I am going to wear it...hell I am trying to see if I still make this lil' gathering.

I've been to the pantry and yes it is a landmark, but in my opinion if you get anything other than breakfast I feel they just served it out of a can. (i.e. the corn)

We'll be comming down from the Central Valley. Now to order those tickets for 11'ish. Can't wait to meet everyone!

I can’t believe I’m going to miss this!

I just found out yesterday I have conflicting dates with Gencon and an industry guest panel I’m doing Saturday and Sunday.

I’m still planning on going on Fan day for reshoots and meetups but it still isn’t consolation for not being able to attend TDH gathering. I’m saddened and disappointed I’ll be missing out.

Regardless I hope each and everyone of ya have a great time next Sunday!

I'll definitly try to make it, I need more information on where and how much.

I'm going to the Tutankhamen exibit at the LA County Museum this monday so that should be interesting

just went today, great display, just a heads up on security :

1. cameras NO FLASH allowed *you all knew this*
2. NO tripods (I tried)
3. You cannot lean over the glass or an alarm or silent alarm is tripped. I thought the silent alarm thing was bull, but its for real as my poor security person kept on messaging in that everything was alright everytime I tripped it !!
4. The boba, jango and zam are close to the glass, so you can get real close !

It's probably safe to say be there for the 1st entry at 11 a.m. and hang out until people start gathering and then plan for a TDH luncheon between 1-2 p.m. if I recall what has been posted ealier by Mirax and others. I believe she's kinda stepping in as coordinator or at least I hope so.

I would recommend just eating at the cafeteria there at FIDM, unless you guys are willing to pull your cars out (there are nice cheap lots all around) you are going to find nothing around Downtown.

On the plus side, if you guys get bored, the fabric district is right around the corner... you could find weird and rare fabrics from all over the world there !

I thought that was what you meant but wanted to make sure. Yup, I am trying to coordinate things Actually what we would like to do is have breakfast at the Pantry at 9am and then enter the exhibit at 11am. That way, we don't have to leave the exhibit for lunch and then worry about buying another ticket to get back in. Also that way, folks can leave whenever they want. I would like to ask if someone can get me a number and address for the Pantry so I can find out when they open and so folks can mapquest how to get there.

Colossal bummer I can't meet you guys there. I'll be camping with the family (which is still cool). I've wanted my wife and two boys to meet you guys and see your handiwork too. My wife needs to see the evidence that "normal" people want to dress up like Fett also. Oh, there's a life size x-wing you can climb in as well at the exhibit, a lifetime dream come true.

Then let's make it official- The Original Pantry for breakfast at 9am and then the Exhibit at 11am.

Ahhh, no better way to start a great day off than with a good hearty b-fast. Count us in and then hopefully were off to SoCal GenCon after FIDM to do some trooping.

Cruzer I wish I could, infact I was trying to plan something special for you all, but it blew up in my face. My parents are good friends with the administator there. For she is on the board of "FACING HISTORY". However they were unable to get her in time to give us a special tour. I was trying to arrange it so we could go there after hours with the house lights on, so we could get decent shots. Turns out she couldn't get in touch with the Lucas people to ok it, also I probably won't be able to make it due to a prior commitment someone is HOLDING me too.

The Pantry at 9:00, ok so now I have to get up at 6:00 am on a Sunday.
I am about 2 hrs. out from LA. give or take, you never know what kind of traffic you'll hit.

Come on... quit complaining you babies!!!! It is 2:45 in the morning, CA time, I just got back from a 7 hour round trip to Las Vegas, but you better believe I will be there at the Pantry at 9.... if I don't sleep through my alarm!

I've had a last minute change-of-plans, unfortunatly I won't be able to be there tomorrow, hopefully when I am able to go I'll run into someone from the Dented Helmet!

Had a GREAT time seeing everyone! Glad to see you all, was so much fun! Forever will the 'Give me mean Boba! yes! Work it! I'm a Jedi, I'm a Jedi! Imagine your father's head in his helmet, show me sad!' be remembered! :-D And the plus of seeing a 911 movie being filmed with Nicolas Cage! (And Art, I was looking through my photos, you can clearly see Nicolas Cage in one of them!) Sorry I was late to breakfast (I live here too... you'd think I'd take into account infamous LA traffic :-P ), but the Pizza Kitchen Lunch/Dinner was fun with you all!

Note... after I left Kristen and Art, I was walking back to my car when they had a police escort go by with a giant film truck with a crane and camera filming a new Toyota 2006 car going down the road, probably for a 2006 commercial! Very cool... just goes to show you never know what you'll see in LA on a given day!

Photos to come soon, just got back from Disneyland. On the tram ride back to the car, I sat and looked at the Fett/Slave Leia images I got... they came out better than I thought! Hopefully with Art & I's photos we can make a nice FIDM Dressing a Galaxy Ref DVD.

Quinton and I had a wonderful time as well. To sit around a table with awesome people conversing about Fett and all while over breakfast was surreal. It was an honor to meet each and everyone of you. And unfortunately we didn't see everyone afterwards because Quinton rushed us through the exhibit like he was working crowd control for FIDM. Oh well, typical 8 year old in a museum. But the time we did get to share with everyone was memorable.

I know this is an inside joke, but everyone who was at the event will be laughing hysterically at that Ohhhhhhh yes did we take photos. Photography is very hard in this exhibit. Art and Ken will echo that. We got what we could, but it wasn't easy.
The very very low lighting plus the very strict security made it near impossible to get detailed shots that you guys normally like.

Yup, was great to meet everyone! Had a blast! Sure didn't care for the lighting or the overly-enthusiastic security group but you do what you can...

Oh course, the BEST part of this trip was going to LAX, parking for 45 mins, going to the exit and having the cashier tell you with a straight face that this is what you owe...

I couldn't believe it and they actually got some sort of shift supervisor out to check my license plate and verify my vehicle hadn't been there over night and then sign some **** saying I wasn't lying and blah blah blah.... 45 MINUTES PEOPLE!!! It would have been funny except that they acted like I was trying to pull one over on them... I wonder if the cashiers at the airport and the security guards at the Bigger exhibit are related.

There are some shin tools on the AOSW Fett. I don't think the MoM/Dressing a Galaxy Fett ever had the shin tools.
