Yeah Its gonna be awesome!
HOLY (insert word I'm not allowed to use here) !!!!
that looks FREAKIN AMAZING!
Countdown.... how long before someone here makes the FemMando costume?
So I'm assuming this is a video game, I don't play many video games at all. Is there a way or place to read up on the story line of this? I'm confused on when this is supposed to take place and all that...
It blew me away when I saw it on E3 the other day. I'm not a fan of MMO's but this one might finally get me to play one.
Even though I know the gameplay won't be quite as BA as the video... this game still looks pretty promising. Once it comes out maybe SWG can finally die
I'm drooling... goodbye WoW
is it a computer game? or 360?
That is by far the GREATEST video game trailer I have ever seen....too bad it is pc only. I'd rather play it on 360. It still might be worth checking it out!
You can a read a preview of the game here: http://kotaku.com/5277689/star-wars-...bam-here-it-is
Read up on it at Bioware, starwars:the old republic.
Jedi, sith, bounty hunter have been announced as player classes with smuggler to be announced this friday.
MMO that will be big on storytelling and actions have a consequence, depending on what you say or do will change the outcome of the story.
and for everyone that has been living in a gameless vacuum.
star wars: the old republic is an MMORPG (massively-multiplayer online role playing game), being produced by Bioware (makers of neverwinter nights, knights of the old republic, baldurs gate, mass effect, and jade empire). this game is biowares first attempt at making an mmo, and they're taking a very different approach than other games in the genre (i.e. world of warcraft). their goal is to produce the first story driven mmo, very heavy on content, in a setting that allows them free reign to create the characters they need without interfering with continuity either cannon or otherwise. to learn more please visit http://www.swtor.com and feel free to register on the community boards.
Oh my GOD! That looks so amazing, I cannot wait to get my hands on it. The graphics on that trailer are insane.
Oh, well they still did a darn good job with that trailer.
I need to upgrade my PC then!!
not a big MMO fan, but this looks awesome...
someone do that fem mando please. that is SWEET armour!!!
I knew that wasn't in-game footage, but I wish they would put some cut-scenes in there with those kind of graphics. s: I cannot wait for this game to come out. I was wondering if any of you guys or gals here know of the system requirements for the game and how much of a monthly fee they are going to charge?
the game isn't even in alpha testing yet, so i'm going to venture that it will be out holiday season 2010. that is unless bioware does what bioware does, and that's make sure the game is done before it's released. as for monthly subscription, it'll probably be $15 a month.
Ah, okay, thanks. I didn't realize how early on in the process the game was. I figured the price would be about that, I couldn't see it being much more than that anyway.
Yea, the standard seems to be $15/Month. As it's an MMO, I'm thinking the graphics req's won't be as steep as what some are thinking, though they will probably look nice.
I bought my laptop a little over a year ago. So I'm guessing that I would probably meet the requirements to play it then?
Most new games should run on most PC's 1-3 years old. MMO's are made to try and keep min specs as low as possible so more customers can play the game, they want to reduce the barriers of entry. I'd be pleasantly suprised if it comes out next year. It was only announced fairly recently and they have stated that it will take less than a decade to make. So if we take a guess and say that they have been working on it for 1-2 years it could be another 5 or so years before it comes out but thats probably pushing it. I'm guessing maybe holidays 2012.
I'd love for it to come out soon, but I don't want it rushed like galaxies.
Whenever it comes, I can't wait!
I never played Galaxies, but I too definitely cannot wait for it to come out either.
I'm not going to pull up all the refrences or interviews, but they have been working on this since around 2005, so hopefully 2010 or 2011 release, personally i hope they release it when its finished and not before, nobody wants this to be another soe style failure.
Lucas....MAKE THAT INTO A R-rated movie straight to DVD.....that is what SW is for us big kids who watched the original when we were little kids
Check this out!!! http://www.news.com.au/technology/ga...321-16,00.html

I was a huge fan of SWG before they made the talent tree changes, and well this could be good. Of course all we have right now is a CG trailer for an MMO. There has yet to be an MMO since WoW to live up to WoW. My guess is that this game will come out 1.5-3 years from now and if it is great, people will leave WoW to play this since WoW will be waning by then. Of course Blizzard is working on their next MMO as well... and they definitely know the game genre very well. So.... who knows... lol I want it to be good but I dont want to get addicted to an MMO again lol
Now that's a sabre fight!
sorta off subject...but sorta not...
any word on Battlefront III?
Very cool, now I know what all the top secret stuff going around our garrison was for, they were up on stage in costume for the announcement.
I am very disappointed with LucasArts. There are those of us who can't really afford a monthly bill to play a game. They promised that The Force Unleashed would be a great game, and They got my hopes up after I played it. Now They go and make a game that seems to be worthwhile, and again, I can't afford it.
I liked The Force Unleashed, what didn't you like about it?
MMOs on the other hand give you literally hundreds of hours of gameplay per month (if you play that much... I had a severe addiction to SW galaxies... 18hr days and very little sleep/ eating... lol). They can give you all of this gameplay for a mere $15 per month. Most cost $40 at release and come with a free month, so in my opinion you will get way more gameplay for your buck if you choose to go with an MMO. If Star Wars: The Old Republic turns out to be the next big MMO, I highly recommend that you try the monthly payment style of gaming.
That being said, MMOs are not for everybody. Still, try it out, and if you like the gameplay, then the monthly fee will above and beyond give you more bang for your buck in comparison to many of the $60 games out there. I say many, because certain games can give you hundreds of hours of play for the one time payment.
I like it!!!
But honestly how many times are the Jedi wiped out in the temple, how many times have then "defeated the Sith" and "reclaimed the republic?
At least in BSG we KNOW it has all happend before and will happen agian.
I've got direct links to concept files, look:
Isn't it too MasterChiefish? LOL
