Also, Snake Eyes' boots are Oakley SI Assault boots, the same boots used by John Connor in Terminator Salvation.
woow Art...thanks for sharing
but Art, i've snake eyes picture with different gloves (see attachment), but i don't remember where did i get that pic..

Base of a lot pictures and poster i had, the gloves of Snake eyes are like Assault Tactical Flight, you can find them on ebay very cheap. I don't know why they put another kind of gloves on San Diego Comic con Mannequi, but i saw the rest of the costume and looks greats, but i still looking for more pictures of the sword section, the leather part and the belt.
I will apreciate any help.
I will have a ton of pics up on Tuesday for you. Interesting about the glove change. I have no explanation for it. Maybe these are stunts or maybe last min pieces for the manneqinn. From what I can see the other parts appear to be correct.
and for the shoes...is the sole looked way too thick for Oakley SI Assault boots?![]()
It is a Oakley SI Boot, not doubt.
Thanks Art Andrews for the photos, i will wait on tuesday. I had some photos from other members too, they are on SDCC 2009 right now. But i still looking for some little details. I hope with your photos i find the answer.
The rest of the costume (except the gloves) on the mannequi is original.
I will post some photos of my leather work, and the original knives, I have one real and one Dummy.
What details are you looking for? I can try to shoot them!!
Very close photos of The belt, all the pockets, how is in the back area on the belt, the sword section in the back. With the photos i try to find know it is velcro or snap bottons they using to hold the items ..thoses hard detail i'm looking for.
You know like Boba or Jango cd reference type.
Here some photos of my items that i have.
In the sword belt some section i did leather single loop lacing, it takes too much time to do it. But in other section like the original (i almost sure for the photos) i did the leather double lacing and that take almost double time than the single one. that's why i combined both style. They look alike.
Here is my both knives, you can find on ebay.
Just took pics.... With a ruler.
Really, that should be great.
MAULFETT, here's some from JP05 on the RPF. Is this the type of stuff you're looking for?
![]()
Thats alotta lacing!
I have about 150 pics of each character, Snake Eyes and Stormshadow. We did take a few with a ruler and even took out Stormshadow's pistol... which is when they started hollering at us and ran us off. It is killing me that I am not able to upload them until tomorrow night!!!
Awesome, Art !!!! Can't wait to see them.![]()
Some of the pics turned out great, some not so great, but I would guess I probably got the most complete set out there. Hopefully it will be helpful to anyone wanting to make the Snake Eyes or Stormshadow costumes. We are driving back tomorrow but as soon as I get home I have to turn around and head up to Vegas, so I may not be able to upload the pics until very late tomorrow night.
can't wait to see 'em Art...![]()
Yes photos like that, they are greats. Not problem Art...i wait.
Yes it is a lot lacing 99centtaco, average calculation is around over 40 feet of lacing of all the Snake Eyes items , including pockets, gun holster ect......
When i do the double leather lacing, one feet long, it takes me about two hours to do it, depend how happy i'm in that moment, multiply by "40" , yes "80 hours" of lacing on you free time because i'm busy father , student and worker, on the firts two hours you start hate the needle and the leather
. But the result is pretty.
I just counting the hours of leather lacing, not the time of cutting all the leather parts, stiching holes made by CHISEL and a hammer, (make sure the holes are on the straight line), glue, velcro ect.........
But i almost done, except for some details, the belt, and pockets. But for the premier of the movie i will use a black military belt with nylon pockets, they look ok, in that way when i have extra time i will make the rest of the leather parts.
I have been working on this costume on researh and hand on by seven months now.

Probably easier to do kicks that way.
I heard the Snake-Eyes body itself at SDCC was a mannequin, and not the actual "Batman" top and mask, with the accessories being real attached to it. Wonder why they sculpted up a whole new mannequin instead of just using the actual costume parts.
Andy, I'm glad you said that, because I was looking at the pictures going....wow...there are like NO break seams at all for applying that on to Ray.
I've been toying with the idea of sculpting it for a Con next year...but just had no idea as to wear to break everything up.
They added thicker soles to make him look taller but those are with out a doubt the SI assualt boot. But now the real question is are they the Assault Shoe, 6 inch boot or 8 inch boot.
They are comfortable I can say that much, I wear SI assault shoes are very comfortable. I wear them every day at work (right now infact) and I have the 8" boots for my BDU's
Looking at the stitching at the bottom of the boot how it begins to flatten out quickly and not jetting upward like on the 8"...I believe it to be a 6"
Well you can see where to make the mask split from the body in Cruzer's pics.
.....and you see the front and back half of the torso "splits" up the side on the actual suit, it was done just like they've done Batman costumes. That center "line" gap going from waist to armpit would actually be the cloth of whatever black shirt was used and the front and back pieces glue to that.
Oh, and as horribly that they've screwed up the backstory of every single character in the new movie, at least they kept Snake-Eyes moving around doing stuff like I'd picture him doing in the comics from my childhood. If you can ignore the extreme amount of CGI happening and just look at Snake-Eyes, here you go.Exclusive French clip here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BncO-JoZNnM
Jeez...the more I see of this...the more I know its gonna be just horrendous. I still would love to sculpt this though...need to lose some weight though before lifecasting myself for the sculpt.
I reloaded the pics in 1 meg size.![]()
Yes, the body armor for Snake Eyes was just a sculpted mannequin.
Here are the first of the uploads. The non-rulered Snake Eyes pics. Will be adding pics with the ruler tonight as well as Stormshadow!

Man those are beautiful pics Art. They're going to be a huge help. Thanks.
Brother, thanks, this is perfect, the photos answered some question, and confirmed some ideas that i had, i will make the rest of my belt and pockets similar as best i can, my sword belt it is not similar but later on i will make a new one, yes for sure it is a double lacing leather type...oh my God!!!!!!
I have the real knive, and i using it for scale, but i can wait fot the ruler's photos.
Thanks Again.
Jenchuan, i had thoses photos behind the scene, as you can see the gloves are tactical military not like the SDCC Snake Eyes gloves. I believe they loose them or forgot and replace them for other gi joe menber gloves. Or snake gloves of another scene in the movie for another tactical action. They look cool too.
I should have the measurement photos up later today.
In the meantime... here are Storm Shadow's VERY EXPENSIVE designer shoes...
This just goes to show that Hollywood has ENTIRELY too much money. I'm pretty sure I could replicate those with some old Nike or Reebok high tops......
"Hey Guys! Let's spend 800 dollars on ONE CHARACTER'S shoes! and throw a little piece of leather on top to hide the laces"
Any of you who are BSG fand probably already picked up on this, but Snake Eyes' side arm is a FN Five-Seven pistol.
But keep in mind Art, the majority of the BSG Pistols were the FN Five-seveN TACTICAL model, the first and earliest 5.7.
Snakes eye's, is the Five-SeveN USG (United States Government) model. This model is actually readily available by Marushin Airsoft in a 6 or 8mm.
http://redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/ai...l?prodID=23153
And thanks to MaulFett for IDing Snake Eyes' knife as a Columbia River CRKT Ultima!
Yes but it's another version of the Five-Seven, not the same as the one used in BSG.
Marushin makes an awesome airsoft replica of the version used in GI Joe. I hope that helps![]()
Sucks that I am thinking of doing Storm Shadow as it seems a large majority of Snake Eye's pieces are found parts and with the helped of some of our talented leather craftsmen like 99centtaco, I'll bet you could get a majority of the Snake Eyes costume banged out in no time.
Storm Shadow costume photos now up.
Still have the measured photos to go.
GI Joe Rise of Cobra Storm Shadow Costume
I will prob collect parts for SNake Eyes, but I really really dislike the who "bat man rubber suit" aspect to his new costume.
All of our Snake Eye and Storm Shadow photos are now up, including those with measurements.
Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow Costumes from San Diego Comic Con
Do you think the compad is a found item?![]()
Last edited by KaanE; 07-29-2009 at 09:54 AM. Reason: Compad only has one 'm'!
Yes, the keys look modified. About the FN-5.7, it looks to be a rubber cast, not a real one, am I wrong?
No its a cast of some kind, because there is no break in the Magazine. On the real deal, there is a huge break line from the magazine and the grip. They probably cast one and sealed it to keep it from gunking the workings.
I remember reading early on about the movie. There were early costume pics released for storm shadow. He was wearing either keds, or converse, and the fans went APE $h!t over it. Talking about how stupid that was. So they revamped it, and gave him 800 dollar shoes
Gotta love the fans. I believe the pics were on cienscape/mania, if anyones interested in digging.
Art? Do I see a Snake Eyes suit coming from you in the future ??
FP
Looking at Storm Shadow... Snake Eyes... ehhh.. don't see it happening.... but might as well collect the part while they are available.
I'm collecting all the parts too, plus i'm making my Snake eyes costume. I already ordered the pistol, thanks guy for the information.
Art Andrew, thanks for the incredible and fantastic photos, you guys are crazy, I did not believe you when you say photos with a ruler,
This is better than any references photos of any kind, plus the Storm Shadow pistol out of the hoster, come on., How did you do it?
Any way, thanks you.:thumbup
You're still a ninja because you got the pistol out long enough to place it on the ground and take multiple pictures of it before they managed to see you doing it. Try that with the Boba suit next time.![]()
If they ever had the Boba suit touchable... I would have it under my arm and be running out the door!!! I would be that guy that you see on the grainy security cameras getting dog piled by 14 guards but clinging on to the Boba Helmet for dear life!
That was fun ART, I'm imagining it and bud...
I don't know if this is the correct thread because the title says 'Snake Eyes boots and gloves' but I have to ask this.
The Storm Shadow's pistol looks to be a toy gun modified with some ali parts. How did it feel on the hand, does it loks plastic? or resin?
Thanks ART![]()
You would have to ask Mirax. She was the one who actually picked it up. I had the camera in hand.
So... Mirax? Where are you?I ask because it looks to be a found item
![]()
Here I am!!! Well, there were definitely metal parts to it but I would not say the entire pistol is metal. Now bear in mind, we were trying to be uber fast with doing our pics so I grabbed it quick, laid it down, then put it back in so there wasn't much time in handling it but it wasn't heavy. I would say most of it was probably resin. I would "think" it is a custom design but hey, if you can figure out what it actually is based off of, that would be great as I think that Baroness uses the same guns.
BTW, I have some Snake Eyes pics on my facebook- not as nice as Art's but you can never have too much reference. facebook.com/starwarschick1 If you aren't a friend, just send me a request so you can view the pictures. They are in my comic con file.
Pssttt... I uploaded your pics as well as mine to the gallery...
Thank you Mirax! I know you handled it a little bit of time, but... do you know if it felt hollow? Or just like a solid resin piece?
I ask because if it was a solid resin piece then the posibilities or odds to be a found item are like 10%I thought it could be a plastic chromed toy gun, like the ones sold at a fair, but if it's a solid piece then surely it's a custom design.
The answer to the why of my reasoning is because buying 2 or 3 plastic toys is cheaper than doing a mould so it wouldn't make sense to do resin casts of a CHEAP found item (the FN-5.7 is an EXPENSIVE found item).
The pants look real similar to 5.11 TDU. Just the belt loops are a a little different. Could be earlier version or modified.
http://www.511tactical.com/browse/Ho...50102/I/74280#
Oops, didn't realize you had uploaded them.
I honestly didn't really pay much attention to the gun other than getting it out of the holster really quick for a shot and then laying it out before they told us we couldn't do that.
Hi, i just got the pistol, it looks too realistic, pretty, It is heavy, it made of half metal and half ....i believe some kind of hard plastic, It is nice, very nice gun.
Ooohh! Very nice!![]()
Yes it is true, the original gun of the snake eyes' SDCC mannequin is rubber. This one is a lot better, now i need to find out how this airsoft gun works, because the directions are in japaness or korean, Is there some kind of gas i need to buy? Where or what kind? If somebody know please help.![]()
Is this the gun that is about $150?
It was $115.00 plus shipping Total was $142.00, For me it is good price for a heavy real replica, its funtions, etc.... made for a company. Even the box is a fine art.
I did a few research and this pistol most place cost a little over $200 with out the shipping.
My opinion try to get it before the stores find out that's the Snake Eyes' gun, then is going to be more expensive.
EDIT: It´s gasoperated
http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol...ail?newsID=879
Airsoftguns are usually either gas charged, battery (AEG) or spring. Should be easy to see which. Spring, you just cock it and got off one shot. AEG (battery), well you´ll probably see a place where batteries would feel at home. If it´s CO2 then you need to buy small canisters that usually fit inside the grip.
More photos of the leather parts. It's no 100% acurate but it looks very similar like the original.
Love this Thread!!.. Great material so far.![]()
I found a cheap knockoff of the Dior Homme sneakers for Storm Shadow on ioffer.com. Total cost with shipping was about $96. While they aren't originals... the originals are impossible to find and run $400-$800... Replicas will have to do! I will post photos as soon as they come in.
Hey Art I found the shoes on that site also (I assume from the same seller) but how do the sizes work? Like how do I convert from US to what ever size they are using?
http://www.i18nguy.com/l10n/shoes.html
A 44 European is about a size 10...
There are a LOT of scams on ioffer, so you might want to hold off ordering yours until I get mine in and verify the seller is legit. Once I have them in and verify the seller is on the up and up I will be glad to post the sellers info here for anyone else who wants to get a pair. I just don't want to post anything yet in case the seller is a flake.
Thanks for the intel on those shoes and the website.![]()
Well it doesn't look like it's going to matter, I wear a US size 12 which is a EU size 46 and no one seems to have larger then a 44. Two sizes too small is just too small to wear.
Here are some more manufactures that appear to make various parts of the Snake Eyes movie costume. Only thing I can't find is the correct MOLLE platform for the pouches.

Cruzer,
My assessment is that Snake Eyes buckle is the 2.25" buckle. Are you coming up with the same?
Also, are you sure those are the right pants? Snake Eyes' cargo pockets were at a slant and the pants you listed look like they are straight. Just checking.
MaulFett also believes it's the 2.25" buckle based on some of your ruler pics. Plus, the center circle of the mannequin buckle is not as elongated as the circle on the 2" buckle.
As for the pants, the pockets on the SDCC mannequin were funky as if they detached them and angled and moved them back a tad and then reattached. But in many of the released publicity shots the pockets look straight. In one of the pics the left cargo pocket even seems to be sewn on top of the reinforced knee area similar to the Propper brand. I couldn't find any makers that have the cargo pockets angled, so please let me know if you find a source. However, the twill weave, reinforced knees, cargo pockets, back pocket flaps, and belt loops all look pretty spot on to the SDCC mannequin suit.
Cruzer, I think you are looking at BDU when you need to be looking at ACU.. Propper has an ACU pant with the slant pockets... but so far I haven't found it in black and I think they have two additional pockets low on the leg...
You guys are good and experts, looking for originals items, references and making props, i believe this tread is going to be the best place to start whoever want to make Snake eyes' costume. Not doubt. My respect to you:thumbup
Those aren't ACU's. Material appears too thick, and is lacking other features. ACU pant pockets use velcro (as does the rest of the suit), and those pockets from my experience appears to utilize buttons. Another dead giveaway, is that ACU side pocket flaps are significantly "shorter" than BDU pocket flaps. From the promo pick, those flaps appear too tall to be ACU. Another thing that tells me it's not ACUs, its missing the lower ankle pocket.
Those are definatly modfied BDU's. Really simple at that, just the addition of the material over the knees.
Last edited by tubachris85x; 08-10-2009 at 10:50 AM.
to Cruzer, I wasnt at SDCC, but from those pics from the RPFer, where do you see the slant? I can't seem to notice the pocket being angled. Also, after a closer look, you can see that they sewed or pinned the corners of all the pockets down...so it suggests that they could have removed the buttons beneath the flaps.
But then again, I don't even know if the costume there is the screen used suit.
Definatly modified BDUs though
You guys think Art will have some screen-accurate abs with his Storm Shadow costume?
![]()
Yeah, the SDCC pants have to be either scratch built or modified BDUs. Either way, they're definitely a twill weave and not the "rip-stop" material because they don't have the grid pattern.![]()
Yea, thats definatly not ACU, but as Cruzer stated, it's missing the rip-stop pattern that the BDUs and ACUs have. The velcro on the fly area, that's not on either.
Hmm..I can't really identify them with any military uniform I have seen so far. My only other guess just short of them being completly custom, is to check some Law enforcement gear, Im thinking either SWAT or the like. Otherwise, those are completly custom
I got the triple buckle, It size is 2 3/4", outside edge, inside where the belt goes is 2 1/4", this the one for sure. Not doubt, thank Cruzer for the help.
