Silicone or Latex for mask making?

hey guys,

Well, I'm making a Freddy Krueger mask for halloween, and I was wondering if I should use Latex or a 2 part silicone for the final mask.

I want the mask to conform to my face pretty well so that the mouth moves with mine (I'm not sure if this info matters as far as material).

Typically, silicone works best for a project like this.

you will need a core for a silicone mold to maintain a uniform thickness in the finished mask. painting a silicone mask requires special paint to even stick to it. silicone is very elastic and will move with your face. latex though is much cheaper and you can tint the latex with acrylic paint to color it and you can slush pour a uniform thickness BUT...it isnt very elastic.

Hmm. I couldn't really use a core for what I'm doing, and you're right; silicone is too expensive and hard to paint (for me:doh).

Ok, latex it is. That's what I'm more used to anyway.
