Santa Barbara Fire Disaster
As some of you may know, Santa Barbara has been under siege by fire over the last 72 hours. The devastation has reached biblical proportions, with more extreme, unseasonal fire weather slated for today. This fire has effectively morphed from a brush fire, to a massive forest fire in the last 24 hours. Evacuation Orders and Evac Warnings encompass 75% of all of the City of Santa Barbara, portions of Goleta and areas in Montecito, to the East.
Here is a link to photos shot when the fire took off on it's second day, in Mission Canyon

Re: Santa Barbara Fire Disaster
I was out there fighting the one last year. There's alot of dense canyons and tons of homes. So it makes it hard to fight. Plus there are always people who will not leave their home even after the evacuations. (which is understandable) but that means if the S*** hits the fan and the neighborhood was already written off beacause it was not defendable. Now we have to send Firefighters in to try to help the trapped people. Unneccesarily risking the lives of everyone. I hope everyone stays safe.
Re: Santa Barbara Fire Disaster
That must be an absolute nightmare, to see a fire spreading towards you and not be able to do anything about it. My prayers go out to you guys that are dealing with this.
Re: Santa Barbara Fire Disaster
I've been watching the news here in San Diego James, I hope you are safe and out of harms way.

Re: Santa Barbara Fire Disaster
Yeah this thing now is effectivley under 50% control. Most of it is spot fires laying low in the jighere evelvations aboved town, heading away from town. The marine layer came in late Friday night, whcih finally gave the firefighters the upper hand. This one is in the history books. Thank you Firefighters!
