San Francisco-Bay Area clans/build parties/resources?

I'm having a hard time finding folks to help guide me through a 1st build, or even just to hang out with and look at what they've done, understand what sort of time and resources I'll need to invest (although the build pricing/guide on here is fairly comprehensive just in terms of material gathering).

I'm crafty, but not "build from the ground up totally from scratch" kind of crafty, so it'd be really great to meet with some locals and sit down and suss out my plan of attack, etc.

So - how about it - who all is from San Francisco/Oakland area and might be willing to make a new friend, as well as do some mentoring?
