Studio Fett
Active Hunter
I began working on my ESB Fett almost a year ago, my plan was to go in costume to see a young Star Wars fan that was battling cancer, this is his story:
David Muegge was a huge Star Wars fan, but David was not at war with the Galactc Empire, he faced something else, something much darker.David was 6 years old and had just completed almost a year of treatment for a rhabdomyosarcoma, a soft muscle tissue tumor. In March 2008, doctors diagnosed a recurrence of rhabdomyosarcoma and also found a very small mass on his lung. David was going through another 50 weeks of chemotherapy and radiation, when he took a turn for the worst, for the last 3 weeks he has been in ICU and was placed on a ventilator, he couldn't speak, but he could respond to questions by shaking his head or giving a thumbs up or thumbs down. They took him off the vent at around 1:45, and by 1:58 this morning, he had passed away.
Studio Fett wishes David's family all the best, our thoughts and prayers are with David and his family.
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life has a David’s Army team which was formed in 2005 to honor David Muegge.David attended part of Relay For Life in August of 2008 and helped with the white dove release.

STILLWATER — David Paul Muegge, age 10, Stillwater, passed away Feb. 27, 2009, following a courageous battle with cancer. At the time of his peaceful passing, he was surrounded by family and friends.
Services will be held Wednesday, March 4, at 2 p.m. at LifeChurch.TV, Stillwater with the Rev. G.T. Moody officiating. Interment will in Fairlawn Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
David attended Lifechurch.tv in Stillwater and Skyline Elementary where he enjoyed science and politics. David liked playing baseball, building with Legos, playing video games, and anything Star Wars. He loved life, his friends, OSU, and Rowdy, his golden retriever. David worked hard to help others. He was an active Cub Scout and led his own cancer fighting army. David's Army, his American Cancer Society Relay for Life team, raised significant funds for and increased awareness of cancer research during the last four years. He felt like his purpose in life was to help the doctors find a cure so no other children would have to deal with cancer.
David's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understand that the quality of his being far surpassed the quantity of time in which he lived. David leaves a legacy and provides us a model in his passing. His ongoing strength, bravery, and perseverance in the face of a difficult adversary will always be remembered. In spite of this battle, David maintained a zest for life and a beaming face that filled so many with joy and reassurance. He demonstrated that each day is indeed a blessing and an opportunity to create lifelong memories. David's gentle, heart-melting smile made many a memory for those fortunate enough to know him. It is this image — the vibrant, sweet, tender-hearted little boy — that lives forever inside all of us. For this we are thankful, and we celebrate his life.
We also thank the many wonderful caregivers, too numerous to mention, that provided David with love and dignity in his life and also in his death.
David is survived by his loving parents, Jeff and Leslie; sister Ryan; maternal grandmother Margaret Pickard, Stillwater; paternal grandparents Paul and Nancy Muegge, Tonkawa; great-grandmothers Bessie Voorhees, Oklahoma City, and Estelle Bee Muegge, Lamont, and many other loving family members and friends.
He was predeceased by his sister, Madison, and paternal great-grandfather, George Muegge.
Condolences may be shared and online obituary may be viewed at www.strodefh.com or www.caringbridge.org/visit/davidmuegge.
