look at my avatar, who do you think i'm going to be rooting for on thursday? here's a hint: it's not going to be my division rival! i'll be doing something i've never done before in my life and that'll be cheering for green bay. i had to call my exgirlfriend to come watch the game with me (she's a cheesehead) to help me out with making sure i don't yell "hit favre in the thumb!"

It will be another tuff game for my boys! This is one of my marked games for a POSSIBLE loss! However, that wont happen! Dallas will be in the NFC Championship game and that is all that matters to me!

I have to disagree with you there.

Tony Romo is the first Romo, not the next Favre.

He is just beginning his own NFL legacy!

    TR + TO = TD!

    Seriously?

    Honestly?

    Really?

Just because Jerry Botox Jones gave him a contract extension after 8 games as a starter youre ready to anoint him the next Favre?

The Cowboys have played one good team and one decent team this year, do not be so quick to forget that. The Patriots/Cowboys game was a battle of the unbeatens. Unbeaten doesnt equal awesome. The Cowboys rolled the cupcakes they were supposed to and had a few close victories.

I love the gusto of support for your squad, thats awesome, I wish everyone who loved sports wasnt so wishy washy.

The next Favre? Check back in 8 years and lets see if he is still starting.

    Dont think so.

Man, this is the worst game for a Vikings fan like myself to have to pick sides. Of course, my second favorite team is anybody playing the Packers.

Unfortunately, not far behind the Packers on our ---- list is the Cowboys. Just Google "Drew Pearson" and "Whiskey Bottle" if you need to know more.

LMAO - Without Belicheat, Brady is a great quarterback, if he keeps it up he will join the ranks of Favre, Montana, Rice, Manning (the dad, not the kids), Unitas, Marino, etc

The Belicheat scandal is worthy of a whole nother thread to say the least. You dont get fined half a mil and lose a major draft pick for doing nothing gang, it was that serious LOL...denial is Belicheats middle name, and you spell that with an Asterisk *

Favre and the Pack over the Cowboyz 32-14.

Talking about the cheese-head...last couple years have been so bad he was thinking about retirement.

    2005- 4 and 12
    2006 8-8

    Not overly impressive???

Mind you...I'm not a Dallas fan...I have two favorite teams...The Steelers and anyone playing Dallas

Not if you just look at those 2 years, no LOL, but he was HOF bound before them regardless. Romo is just the latest to date Jessica Simpson

The same could be said for several Steelers quarterbacks (dont make me say it, no no...oh, err Kordell Slash Stewart LOL...) or any QB for that matter.

You have to take their overall career, and thats why I said check back in 8 or so years on Romo, if he has lasted that long with the HOF numbers and titles like Favre, then yes he is a great QB and not a flash in the pan no matter how much money you throw at it.

I do agree though, anyone playing Dallas gets my vote! LOL

FAVRE may be better than ROMO...but we all know he is NOTHING compared to AIKMAN

    3 RINGS to 1

FAVRE 0-8 against TROY in his career

where is GBH????? he is the biggest PACKER fan in the world...why is he not posting on this thread....

I know why...he knows the END is NEAR for his PACKERS and FAVRE

    ROMO- 15-5 as a starter
highest QB rating in the NFC
    most TDs in the NFC
dates the hottest women in the planet

FAVRE...18 years 1 superbowl.....give ROMO 17 more years and I think he can find his way to 1 superbowl victory

HECK...he is going to do it this year

2 years in the league and 1 superbowl

    FAVRE WHO????????

I guess you did not watch the Cowboys Pats game

we were winning deep into the 3rd quarter

I agree they are the best but the CHEATERS will not win the big one this year

the only reason why TO ruined your team is because your Coach could not handle him the same way he cant handle his drug addict kids

TO has been great in Dallas.....

we paid him the money he wanted

    the eagles did not

we treat him like a star

    the eagles did not

we have a owner and coach that take care of TO...he is happy

your owner and coach treated him like ****

our QB lets TO be the SUPERSTAR

your OB wanted to be the STAR

its clear to see DONOVAN was never that good...since TO has left he is nothing...just like he was prior to TO's arrival

Wow DarthM, some pretty great stuff except the cheap shot on Andy Reids personal life

I wouldnt brag too heavy on catering to a spoiled thug (TO). It may came back to bite you like that karma you posted LOL...
They did it to Bonds and look at what happened. Spoiled, catered, and still a duffus and *

Its easy in hindsight to say McNabb isnt what they thought, but put your beloved with those injuries and he is riding the same ship. You can only judge what you have stated because time has gone by. That luxury has happened for Romo yet.

If he lasts as long as Favre and does what Favre has then yes, he will be HOF bound and worthy of the praise. Only time will tell.

I dont hate Romo, not at all, he is doing great. I just dont anoint dudes who rise so quick, the high percentage dont have staying power.

I still say the Pack wins. And yes, this is the NFL, its about 1 game. You lost that 1 game to the Patriots and I still think the Patriots have their 1 game coming. Its just too tough to go undefeated in the NFL.

WOW, I can see the testosterone bubbling over!!

I think it's like this..Two major categories when dealing with Quarterbacks in the NFL:

Greatness : Montana, maybe Brady(as much as it pains me), Aikman, Bradshaw, Unitas, Staubach....etc.

Good Players (one superbowl or less): Favre, Young, Manning, Marino, and everyone else after....etc etc...

......but, as a NINER FAN I have to hate the PACKERS, it's in our blood...so sorry GBH!..Besides, cheese stinks...LOL!

Even though I'll be rooting for Dallas on thursday, my favorite team of all time is the Oakland Raiders.............dont laugh.

I grew up with them. So what if they only won 5 games in the past 2 years. Its just a game..........Right?

    Re: ROMO vs FAVRE

I completely disagree with your logic of Good/Greatness being defined by number of super bowls. Montana and Aikman, as good as they were, were extremely fortunate to have great players around them. Who has Favre had? Who did Marino have? Favre and Marino never had a Michael Irvin, Emmitt Smith, or Jerry Rice playing with them.

name the other wide receiver next to IRVIN....we had a bunch of nobodies

and EMMITT...yes he is the greatest of all time so I give you that

it is common knowledge AIKMAN is the most accurate QB of ALL TIME!!!!

bottom line...if you dont win championships you AINT GREAT!!!

GREAT PLAYERS make the PLAYERS AROUND THEM GREAT

oh by the way...the other receiver next to MIKE was ALVIN HARPER....a NOBODY

Favre and Marino never had a Michael Irvin, Emmitt Smith, or Jerry Rice playing with them.

Yep, Fett wears green. Favre wears green. Fett starts with an F, Favre starts with an F. Fett shoots rockets, Favre throws em

me taking a SHOT and REID?????

dude you called TO and THUG..... cheap shot...he has no drug issues...no women issues...he is far from a THUG

FACTS are REIDS kids are THUGS...DRUG THUGS and he RAISED them

not a cheap shot just REPORTED NEWS..check CNN

kinda funny the guy cant raise kids and he cant handle TO....maybe if he CARED for TO the way WADE PHILIPS does he would not have had issues with him.

TO needs LOVE man...kinda like REIDS kids????

I know my football quite well dude. You kind of proved your own point. If the other receiver next to Irvin was a nobody, then why didn't Aikman make him great? You contradict yourself.

Emmitt is not the greatest of all time...

I'll take Walter Payton, Jim Brown, and Barry Sanders ahead of Emmitt.

also, mcnabb nothing before TO? so i guess two trips to the nfc championships and at least four times in the playoffs while TO was killing the niners from the inside is nothing.

even if by some fluke that dallas makes it to the superbowl, there is no way that they'll beat the pats. i'm not a pats fan, butthey are way too dominant to lose to a team they already beat this season. in fact i don't think there is any team in the nfc that can beat the pats.

C'mon...all this talk about great QB's and nobody mentions Rexy Grossman...

And although it kills me to admit it, I do have a grudging respect for Brett. There is nobody currently tougher in the NFL, and he seems a very humble, down-to-earth guy, just like Walter Payton was.

And, let's face it...the official clothing of Wisconsin is a Green #4 jersey for casual occasions and a white #4 jersey for formal occasions such as weddings.

    Re: ROMO vs FAVRE

Wow! This thread is getting heated. You'd think someone had said that the Cowboys recast something.
I do consider myself a Cowboys fan, win or lose. The numbers don't lie though. Emmitt Smith is the all time yards leader and HOF, you can't deny that. BUT, would he have been that great without Jerry Jones' deep pockets to buy an outstanding offensive line? Maybe, but I doubt it. Fact of the matter is, Jerry Jones put together one of the greatest dynasties ever. The whole team was good, not just one person.

Farve has had talent around him through the years: Mark Chimura, Sterling Sharpe, Dorsey Levens, Antonio Freeman, Ahman Green, Donald Driver, just to name a few. The fact of the matter is, they just haven't gotten it done.

Romo... I myself wondered if his season last year was a fluke. It wasn't. He has performed as well this year as he did last season. His contract extension was justified, IMHO. YES, there was the botched hold in the Seahawk game and he will probably be remembered for that. But, again, stats don't lie: 3000+ yards passing, 31 TDs, 66% completion percentage and a 105.3 rating (3300, 22, 68%, 101.5 for Favre). My vote overall goes to Romo.

TO - well, can't say I really care for him as a person, but he's good. Period. You over compensate for TO, you get slammed by another reciever or Jason Witten. He is a difference maker, like him or not.

CGClone - It's Carrie Underwood, not Jessica Simpson. Don't hate.

I'm a Bills fan, so I definantly will not root for the Cowboys. Shoot I even root for our division rivals if they play the Cowboys. I don't know if there is a better model player than Favre. Even if you are not a fan, can't help but feel sad when it looked like he might end his career, going out on a stinker last season. If the Packers can beat the Cowboys, and also get to the Super Bowl, and beat the Patriots, it would bring balance to the football world.

First off... admin hat on... let's keep it civil guys.

    Secondly...

If you honestly think that Brady is nothing without Bellicheck you're nuts. Listen to the football analysts... they compare the guy to Joe Montana. And folks... he's already got three rings. Add another one after this season to tie Joe Montana.

As for Bellicheck and the cheating "scandel"... again... talk to real football guys or just listen to them. They all say that all the teams do it. Bellicheck only got caught because the Jet's coach knew all his "moves" because he worked for him! Mangini had a grudge to settle and ratted him out. Trust me... they all do it.

As for some of the other comments in this thread you've got to be kidding me. Put Barry Sanders on those Cowboys teams and he'd have blown Emmitt Smith away! You can't compare Barry on those terrible Lions teams to Emmitt and his AMAZING O Line. Not even fair.

And Romo being better than Favre... are you kidding me? Favre already has proven himself through the years as one of the greats. Romo isn't even in his league yet.

Lastly... you talk as if ANYONE in the NFC has a shot of winning the SuperBowl. Riiiight...

BARRY SANDERS IS A LOSER...HE QUIT ON HIS TEAM!!!!!!

you can not be considered a great player if you QUIT on your team

OH..I guess you all FORGOT when the LIONS made the PLAYOFFS.....REMEMBER that GAME in the PLAYOFFS where SANDERS RUSHED for ZERO Yards.....

PLEASE....he was on a GOOD TEAM that year....

EMMITT was a better blocker, pass catcher and CLUTCH player

YES Barry was a better RUNNER...but thats it...

EMMITT was a better FOOTBALL player and LEADER!!!!!!!

    and FAVRE...18 years 1 SUPERBOWL

ROMO...in 3 months will be 2 years and 1 Superbowl

I laid off the thread for a while because it was just the biggest pi$$ing contest, not really any football facts to prove a point, so this may be or my not be my last post LOL...

WebC - I agree, they all do it. Yes, Brady is a stud outside the scandle, I have never questioned that.

Romos #'s are great, no one has questioned that, I feel like Cowboy fans feel like they have to defend this guy. Put a reality cap and think. He hasnt been around as long as Favre, hasnt proven anything yet other than he is accurate and has fast recievers to hit.

Sorry DM, you keep clinging to one quarter. No matter what it was in the 3rd, when the last second ticked off the clock, the Cowboys lost.

TO is an incredible football player, his integrity and selfishness has always been the things that are questioned. He didnt get his way so he threw the 49ers under the bus. Didnt like Baltimore, so he whined. Then threw Donovan under the next passing bus. See the cycle? You get the impression every time Jones walks through the locker room he slips TO a few benjamins.

    Sorry Jango_Wes, here : http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15821211/
    Its Jessica now.

So now, lets talk football shall we?

The Cowboys run a lot of the hitch and go, and skinny posts to free up TO while running Wilker underneath, thats hard to defend, props there.

The Packers run a ton of 5 outs and that kills DB's and defensive schemes.

So the results, IMHO, will be who is better ready on defense.

and for the record, I have the NFL channel on DirectTV, but the game tonight is screwing the fans over, its sucks that its not on national TV.

    Re: ROMO vs FAVRE

Actually, I did post stats to prove my point. Here they are again:

Passing yards- ROMO: 3000 FARVE: 3300
    TDs - ROMO: 31 FARVE: 22
    Completion % - ROMO: 66 FARVE: 68
    QB rating - ROMO:105.3 FARVE:101.5

    Pretty close.

Owens is definately a cancer, no doubt about it. But for as much as I despise him as a person, stats don't lie: 64 receptions, 1093 yards, 99 yd avg per game, 13 TDs. He's the #2 reciever in the NFL, only to Randy Moss (the OTHER cancer). And he only trails by 2 overall yards and 3 touchdowns.

DM: As much as I like ya, and as much as I love the Cowboys, you really aren't helping the cause.

WebChief: Absolutely correct. Brady is great. No question.

CGClone: Carrie Underwood, Jessica Simpson. Either one bro, either one..... still, don't hate.

I agree it's too early to annoint Romo the next Favre or Montana, but should he continue producing like he is now, there's no doubt he will break records along his career.

For as good as Favre is, I look at him like I do Marino. Marino was an outstanding quaterback, no argument. But he only made it to the Super Bowl once. And they didn't win. It may be the only black mark on his entire career, but it's a big one.
Favre has paralleled Marino. He's broken records become somewhat of a legend. But he's only won one Super Bowl in his career. That's his black mark.

One Superbowl is a blackmark? wow.

IF that yours reason to diss on Favre, so be it. Theres a lot of QB's with blackmarks from the Cowboys with that busted reasoning.

I think your HOF'er Staubach just summed it up himself on live TV pregame about your beloved unproven Romo "Tony has a long way to go to be in Favres league."

Go on, rip on one of your best quarterbacks ever and what he just said.

Not hating on Romo for his dating or his playing. I am just not on the Cowboys Savior QB or Coach bandwagon, both have yet to go the distance.

    Re: ROMO vs FAVRE

Now, if you actually READ what I wrote, I agreed that it's way too early to call Romo and "elite" quarterback, nor have I crowned him King Quarterback. Same thing Staubach said, same thing most people on here said. Give him time, see if he continues.

I never once dissed on Favre. I believe "legend" was in the description I wrote about him. But when you are talking about Super Quarterbacks, there are several out there with 3 and 4 rings. Will only one ring keep Favre out of the HOF? No. But in my eyes, he won't be up there with the Montanas, Aikmans, Bradshaws, (hell, even the Bradys) etc because of that.

I believe my posts have been pretty level headed, so there's no need to make this personal and attack each other bro, but we can if you want.

    GREAT GAME

I hated to see FAVRE go down.....hope he is OK

We will see you guys again in the NFC Championship

At least for tonight ROMO and the BOYS are the BEST TEAM in the NFC

    Bottom line

the PATS...THE PACKERS and THE COWBOYS are all in a class by themselves

any of these teams could win it all

I think the PATS are the BEST team......

HOWEVER....any team can win on any given sunday

We have a long way to go in this season and its going to be a FUN Finish

FOR the RECORD ...my parents live in WISCONSIN and I am going to visit them for X- MAS

I dont HATE FAVRE..In Fact I have his JERSEY!!
FAVRE is the greatest of ALL TIME.....HE is TONY ROMOS childhood hero...

I just hope some of you can give ROMO the credit he has earned!!!!!!!

He is one of the best young QBs in the NFL

and WOW to Rogers...he is going to be great when FAVRE retires some day!!

    Re: ROMO vs FAVRE

well. seeing as how favre was out for half the game i think we faired pretty well.

i can't hate on romo, especially since he is from wisconsin. i'm more irritated by people who will diss favre and disregard the fact that our offensive line is nothing to brag about.

if you look at some (keyword) of the other quarterbacks in the league that have high numbers it's because they have a team that allows them to achieve high numbers.

new england giving tom brady 5 minutes to complete a pass doesn't make tom brady the best quarterback in the world, he just had more time to use his skill.

it's all relative, better players working together as a whole will boost stats for their key players.

lot of green bay hate going on here. didn't know we had players that create that kind of rage.

now dallas and TO, a guy that will walk away from his team if they forget to wipe his bum with 100 dollar bills a day out of the week..... there is someone who can inspire hate for a team.

maybe that is why i laughed so hard when he bobbled that touchdown pass which was intercepted by al harris. his arrogance bites him there.

i'm sure he won't lose sleep over, since they won and the money is still coming

If TO had a "G" on his helmet you would LOVE him!!!!!

he is only the 1st wide receiver all year to get 150 yards on Green Bay

Santana Moss, Roy Williams, Plaxico Buress did not even get 50 yards

Bottom line is TO is the most COMPLETE Receiver in the NFL!!!

Moss is the best Deep Threat but over the middle of the field and in the slot he is WEAK!!!

I say TO for league MVP this year!!!

..I love this thread...great passion all around....a TRUE MANS THREAD!!

But GREAT GAME.....almost better for Green Bay that Farve was out, cause Farve was getting LAID OUT early on, and Aaron Rodgers gave them a better chance.....

Bottom line is, last night ROMO was better....score one for Dallas.......clearly the better team.

I found my self watching this game last night... what a game! Though NFL networks cuts and commercial breaks were awkward to me. But the best game I have seen in a long time!

    Go Cowboys!

The road to the Superbowl for the NFC will go through Dallas, thats for sure.

The most complete receiver in the NFL is injured, sitting on the sidelines. If you can name him, more props to you. It ain't TO. G or no G on his lid LOL...

Great game, Romo was a stud, but the best part of Dallas' game is their O line. With the time he has had all year to get down to his 4th and 5th reads, that line would make Eli Manning look good.

    Nice win.

    COMPLETELY Disagree with you....

T.O like it or not IS the most complete Receiver, and has been for quite sometime. Why you ask? cause he BLOCKS and does the other things down field. Those who watch him every week know that........not to mention his stats for this year, check'um out.................so NO, it's not Marvin Harrison....good try though.

And unless you've seen all of the other 10 wins the Cowboys have had, TRUST ME, that O-Line has been horrible at times.....but who's the one that bailed them out with his running/ scrabbling?? ROMO....so please, don't sell him short....
Eli manning?, give me a break....cowboys would be 7-5 with manning(any of them), if it weren't for ROMO.

Again, I'm not comboys fan....but the proof is in the pudding...sorry.....ROMO AND T.O are tops right now.

I do agree.....PATS are #1, until someone beats them....and DALLAS is #2..then INDY, then Green Bay...in that order.

And WC, you guys are so spoiled in Boston...with all the winning teams....BC, SOX, PATS, CELTICS......I hate you.!!

WOW! What a game!! Being a Packers fan, I cringed when Brett went down. He said in an interview that he will probably be back next week. I just hope the old guy doesn't rush back.

As for the Cowboys.....they are a really good team TO is probably the best receiver in the league by far. Favre wanted Randy Moss to go to GB, but they passed on him. He would have been a nice complement to Driver, that's for sure.

Anywho.... The Boys won this round, but come NFC Championship time, revenge will be sweet

    GO PACK GO!!!

LUCKY...you guys got lucky we did not hang 50 on you

TO dropped TD makes it 44 and the Field Goal we should have taken instead of the 4th and 1 would have made it 47

then the first drive should have been 7 instead of 3....and that makes it 51

OH and if Favre had stayed in we would have at least had one pick for 6

    Three words....

    Any Given Sunday...

Look at the Pats against Philly. They came this close to losing.

Anything can happen in this day in age. I am into 3 teams mainly. My home team of the Browns, Panthers and the Cowboys.

The Browns are finally showing signs of life after the past few years. The Panthers met the Pats a few years ago in the Superbowl, and since...fell apart. The Cowboys, always have been a favorite team.

At this point, the Panthers aren't going too far, the Browns...they have a chance, may not be an awesome chance, but they have a chance. The Cowboys are about the only team that I like that are even pretty sure of getting to the playoffs.

    Only time will tell gang.

Well, first we have to take care of the "NEW YORK FOOTBALL GIANTS", so no need to look ahead beyond that, but thanks just the same!!!

We'll still have to perform, but looking at the shape of the players in the last games, the fact we have home field advantage, and a winning record against them in the season the packers shouldn't have trouble.

The giants got beat up physically and mentally in the last game, and have players listed as questionable.
the packers simply had to maintain a lead, not fight for one.

Its all about TD's in the NFL, not stats. Stats are for fantasy football. You can control all the stats and still lose. Dallas proved that.

I have a feeling this is the Packer's year. I won't get my hopes up yet, but Sunday's game was amazing!

After Grant's 2 fumbles, he totally redeemed himself and had an AWESOME game...201 yards and 3 TD's!! Brett was the usual Brett. He even threw a snowball pass I think Holmgren should stay away from Lambeau from now on!

Pats vs. Pack in the Superbowl. The packers WILL win!

    GO PACKERS GO!!!!

I have to admit it, the packers played a lowsy game.

Should have let the Giants play at home. They have a terrible record there.

Favre just can't perform in the cold anymore.

The giants defense was solid pretty much the whole game, and their great offensive playcalling sealed the deal.

I don't hate them for it at all. All i can say is I just don't want New England to win. I never like teams with cheaters on them.
