Republic Commando: Hard Contact

Cruzer

Well-Known Hunter
I just finished reading Traviss' Hard Contact early this morning and I really enjoyed it. I found myself staying up late and waking up early just to read on. Triple Zero follows in the same book, and I could hardly wait to read the first few pages. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoyed following the story line in the video game.

I give it: (y)(y) for some enjoyable reading!

That sounds pretty cool man. I'm with my friend now and he says its a great book as well. Are you still planning on making an RC squad?

Glad to hear you liked it! In my opinion, Triple Zero is even better than HC, and True Colors is best so far. It's like the oposite of movie sequals, the books actually get better!

Ok, I finished reading Triple Zero. It was pretty good. It got a little too into the "relationship thingy" for my tastes for a sci-fi military tactical novel, so I think I enjoyed Hard Contact just a little bit more because there was less of that. But at the same time it was neat to see them "branch out" like that. I already ordered True Colors. I'm not sure about Bloodlines though if the novel focuses primarily on Jedi.

I've always thought it'd be cool to make an RC suit. I recently bought a BW helmet and am talking to someone to buy their dfxr v.1. I'd like to make a suit, but don't know the first thing about the armor makers out there or if they'd even fit my 5'7" height. I registered at CT.net and brows the RC forum often, but haven't posted much.

After reading the two novels (which I still highly recommend for anyone who liked the RC game storyline), I'm starting to see the appeal of the Mando language. Travis did a good job of making it enjoyable and exciting in a genuinely fun way to enhance and further SW fandom.(y)

I totally agree, I finished True Colors a couple days after it was released, loved every bit of it, and correct my anyone if I'm wrong but i do believe Karen is going to wright another RC novel with Order 66 being a large part of it, can't wait!

A RC suit is on my list of suits to complete before i die lol. And im eventualy going to learn to speak at least a little bit of Mando'a fluently. You should check out Karen's site, she already has a small Mando'a dictionary and a grammar guide definitely kandosii stuff.

I first found the books when my brother asked for one of them for Christmas like two years ago and I thumbed through it. I've actually read the other novels Traviss has written now--the Wess'Har series. Somehow I managed to resist buying my own copy of True Colors and asked for it for Christmas this past year. Now I'm racing to get through it while also trying to go as slowly as I can, cuz I know the wait for the next one will be too long. I liked Triple Zero the best, I think, because I like Kal Skirata's character so much. The relationships continue in True Colors, yet the characters are separated by circumstance (at least as far as I've gotten). Hopefully this installment won't be a let down for you because of the relationships.

I've heard the same thing, Myles. The thing that worries me is that that will mean an end to the series. I haven't read anything of how the RCs were deployed after Order 66 in the EU.

My brother deals mainly in droid building, but has always felt that the RC outfit would be the best for him because he's not exactly slim. From the photos of you I've seen, Cruzer, you certainly wouldn't have the same problem my brother has, who'd much rather wear a trooper suit, I think. I'd love to see more versions of the RC outfits, and you're one of our artists here, so hopefully you'll pursue it.

Does anyone know if anyone's done versions of the Omega suits, or just Delta?

A book just came out for tis actually, entittled,Order 66,it was good but i found the ending rather cliche >.>

on pg 72 of Order 66 It so rocks! I love this series. I actually swore in mando'a the other day at work. It's like learning another language as ya' read. sort of like when I picked up some Japanese after reading shogun and watching all the old black and white samurai movies.

My partner just looked at me through knit brows but he knew what I really meant and I didn't offend anyone to boot ( double bonus)

kick ***, you do learn alot of mando'a thru this series, not to mention history, if anyone has read the legacy of the force series, theres a part were jaina is on mandalore and runs into bard'ika and darmam's son (forget his name at the time) but it all ties together ironically
