Just found this on Ebay
Boba Fett FP Helmet | eBay
The excess length beneath the edge ( most likely from the mold) makes me suspicous... cause, does FP didnt cut the overhang away before shipping?
It's a resin built Asok's/fettpride so it could be two things, or a non cold cast Asok's, or a recast of an Asok's.
My first suspicion, is yes.
However, this is an "FP Budget" that I discontinued selling about a year ago. One
that the rights were sold to Asok. I do know that Asok has produced resin slush
versions. So it is possible still that it could be his. Only he would be able to tell
But what is for sure, is that is is an FP Budget MR. Obviously the FP plaque is the
first clue. But in addition to this, it has molded ear caps. Also consistent with the
FP Budget MR. It would be interesting to message the seller to see what he has
to say about it. I'd do it myself, but my eBay name would be a dead giveaway
and would yield only silence.
Very unfortunate and disappointing to see if it is a recast.
However, he does not claim to have made the helmet himself, and he does acknowledge that 'if you know this helmet, then he has said too much', seeming to suggest that it is one of many that have been produced and have an existing good reputation for their quality.

The auction description is interesting in one of his completed auctions ... he's selling them painted too.
But here, he states these are from the "Fettpride Molds".
Is it possible that this IS Asok? It does mention this helmet being cold
cast slushed resin.
Boba Fett ESB Helmet | eBay
Well most of the Asok-casted Helmets I've seen in this Board were actualy grey (or shiny) but not white.
Also (according to the data) Asok Lives in Indiana while this auctioner lives in Montreal.
The paintjob on the other 2 fett-helmets look ok but that would include that he either bought 3 Budget helmets at some point...
or well its getting a bit tight, isnt it?
You might have recorded the Data of former closed transactions?
Couldnt be a bad Idea to check how many Budget helmets gone to Canada ;-)
I did think of that too. As it turns out , I have no record of selling or shipping a budget helmet
The casting in the first auction is actually very clean on the surface. Normally, recast
eBay items aren't as clean. As if it was first generation quality coming from the actual
mold I sold Asok. Almost makes me wonder if Asok sold the molds. I suppose
it's a stretch, but maybe another possibility.
On further inspection of the photos, it does appear that the "flashing" areas of the helmet
are VERY consistent with having come from the mold I sold Asok. I can see how tight the line
is at the edges, and the score/trim line right underneath the FP logo. Kinda spooky.

Paypal normaly stores everything. Could be a long shot - but the payers normaly have their shipping address automatically attached to each transaction.
And the chance that canadians take paypal isntead if IBAN SWIFT or whatever is not so little.
but i guess thats a lot of transactiosn to click threw. Might be a idea to start with the day you selled budget-helmets the first time, and end with the day you give away the mold.
I know ASOK has done just white resin upon request so it is a possibly a resell of one of his lids but at $250 your still better going through ASOK for one.
Well, my own research into transaction history for FP Budget Helmets pulls only three members of TDH from Canada. Two of which are completely out of the question. That leaves only one possibility on my end. I'll hang onto it and see if it matches any correspondence the eBay Member comes back with.
and for the one left goes "innocent until proven guilty"
Let's wait what Asok might add to the incident.
it's not the fact that it is one unpainted helmet that awakes suspicion. The other two painted helmets that also primp themeselves being casted out of the same mold are causing alert.
Brother, you're not getting any argument from me here. My opinion is, it is VERY
suspicious. But as you said, there isn't a whole lot that can be done,
or proven entirely until we have a little more info such as input from Bill (Asok).
That's all I meant. In my years here, it's been proven historically, that jumping
the gun without solid evidence in matters like this can come back to bite ya in the

With a little searching on TDH, you can find a user called slartibartfast from Canada, who bought a CC Asok cold cast helmet, painted it, posted pics about it, and sold it using the same pics on ebay:

Asok's made resin-only FP Budget helmets. Before assuming this guy recast Asok's CC helmet, can someone just PM Asok and have him comment in this thread? Maybe the guy bought another one, who knows?
I'm certainly not drawing any conclusions, Rich. As can be read in my previous posts, I've been giving some benefit
of the doubt and throwing out other possibilities. In my last post, it's clear that I'm not willing to jump the gun without
something more solid. My contacting the eBay seller is more in the interest of him using my name to sell, nothing
more. I don't have a vested interest in the helmet itself any longer
The seller is a member here, slartibartfast. Also, i'm fairly sure that asok has done one or two of the budgits aet kits that weren't coldcast. i agree with chris that it's a very clean cast to be a recast, if bill chimes in he can tell us a bit more.
I just heard back from the eBay seller. He was pleasant. He explained that he purchased the helmets from Asok. The white one is apparently painted white.
At this point, I'm satisfied. If Asok feels something may still be out of order, I would urge him to follow up with the seller here or on eBay.
Just received the email on Ebay from Chris regarding this issue and to set things straight, yes I did purchase the helmets from Asok. The white helmet I never got around to painting again in the ESB theme as it took so long to do the first one, I simply painted the other in the supertrooper white and then pooped out. I understand the hysteria regarding this recast problem, but I am not part of it nor do I plan on being so. I am a decent enough artist that I probably could sculpt my own helmet, though nothing as good as Asok's, and would not feel to good about it if I did steal another person's work.
Ah ok, everything seems clearer now. Like its already stated: Recasting is a serious Issue.
And I'm glad that this incident was just a false alarm and nobody got actually hurt.
