Purchased a Disney 18" Boba Fett and cut it into pieces ! Figure Mod

Thanks guys

I always enjoy seeing projects with lots of explanation & progress pic's. I always seem to learn a trick or two. Hopefully this delivers....

So I found a Disney Fett here, I might hold off for a bit on it, it's going for $80+nz that's about $60us!
That's a dramatic price hike..... the joy of living in NZ:cry when it comes to buying.....

Hmmm, I wonder if it'd be worth it to have one of us buy in the US and ship to you. I'm in Maryland, what would UPS be I wonder.....

back to Boba...

Set out to work on the visor, to get the smooth black effect....

IMG_9581.JPG

noticed this roll of tape and decided to give it a shot....

IMG_9586.JPG

I put the tape on some thick paper and cut out with exacto

IMG_9588.JPG\

just trying to fit it in to see how it looks...

IMG_9594.JPG

not too bad

IMG_9596.JPG

I'll keep it

IMG_9603.JPG

painted the grey back in around the armor....

checking the direction and look of the head

IMG_9611.JPG

started to shade a bit here with airbrush and watered down acrylics / drybrush

working on getting him a little gritty

IMG_9634.jpg

thought I'd switch gears a little and get the base designed....with, you guessed it, foam board !

IMG_9635.jpg

determined how high to create the step up

IMG_9640.JPG

nice fit...

IMG_9645.jpg

started to carve, sand, saw the foam into shape

I looked through my closet and unfortunately I had nothing resembling the cape color. The cape that comes with the figure is horrible. So I went down to the local fabric store and picked this up for a few bucks.....looks pretty close and is thick

IMG_9683.JPG

Cut up the ammo pack, moved them closer to match the film.....

IMG_9693.JPG

.....and painted them with acrylic

I think that'll work.... so with the cape, I need to decide if I want it just hanging there draped....or better yet, have it blowing back by a gust of wind.

What do you think ?

Pcoz

Thanks Zero

I know, I almost could have started from scratch, lol ...but the helmet, armor, jetpack, gauntlets, etc were all pretty good. I don't know what I was thinking....a simple repaint? Nah, that's too easy

That's how it always starts, you look at something and think I'll just touch that up and it will be great..... Then it snowballs
I've had many a project start the same way.....

Cheers for the thought also :D
i looked at UPS from my end and wow do they want to charge an over inflated price, guess they're not really that big on international (though they say they are) I think the computer generated cost was around 200!!!
When I brought my TK in that was only $60, it was economy post, which UPS didn't seem to have on their website.

Oh wow, that's unreal....

Yeah, not sure what I was thinking, New Zealand, right ? Wasn't Lord of the Rings filmed there ? Beautiful country, huh?

There are lots more postal services that are a lot cheaper than UPS ....
yes lord of the rings....
I'm big on tramping ( you call it hiking in the U.S.) so have seen a lot of the NZ back country and have been through a lot of the places that they used to film in or near.. Yes NZ is a very beautiful country, I very much love it.:D Pity about the postal issues

Haven't checked back in a bit, damn you have been busy! And you did not disappoint.

And Zero those postal rates are crazy! But NZ is beautiful , IMO a good trade off.

Those Stormies buckets are out of proportion, I wanted to pick 2 up at Wally World and noticed the buckets and declined.
The Vader was decent

Are you sure you're not looking a the Rebels Stormtrooper version ? Those are completely out of wack, to match the cartoon. The standard Star Wars film versions in 18" and 31" look fairly decent to me.... except for the Luke and Han Solo no helmet versions....those are just plain horrible likenesses.
