    Jun 17, 2009, 8:23 PM - Pepsi Throwback. Good? Bad? Ugly? #1

    Hi all!
Been back in VA for a week now and there's so much to do compared to over in Korea. I've put many miles on my car already and we've gone all over the place this week.
One new thing I've seen (well, new to me!) is Pepsi Throwback. It's made with sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup, and to me it tastes great! Doesn't have that sticky, cloying feeling you get in your mouth sometimes after drinking a soda.
My wife is a Coke drinker, and we were comparing the labels tonight. The Pepsi Throwback has 100 cal per 8 oz while Coke has 140. Also, it has 27g of sugar, compared to Coke's 39g.
So it's definitely not a 'diet soda' but I think it's pretty darn good! I only drink 3 or 4 sodas per week to begin with, but it's nice to have another option now.
Any soda drinkers tried this stuff yet?

Haven't tried it yet. They're marketing it out here in California as Pepsi Natural. They're also testing the Pepsi Raw and Pepsi Retro brands in Europe, as I understand it. Hey, the more they get away from HFCS and get back to cane sugar, the better. Mexican Coca-Cola (which contains cane sugar) is pretty easy to get out here.

Being a die hard Diet Pepsi drinker. I was drawn to it because they use real suger not fake ****. Overall I thought it was pretty good.

Just alittle fyi Diet Coke if left out in the sun will turn into Formaldehyde fact. So drink Throwback

here's another fun fact for you. if you let cherry coke dry out it is visually indistinguishable from dried blood.

Love it. Big fan. Was a regular Pepsi guy.

I have to say, that I'm impressed. It tastes like Pepsi USED to taste back when the world was flat and all that (back when they didn't use High Fructose Corn Syrup). The difference is pretty amazing. The most notable, is there doesn't seem to be an after taste with Throwback. So, when they say throwback, they mean it.

I was unsure at first, thinking that it won't last. But the more I see the ads for other products, the more I realized that everyone is moving in the direction of getting away from High Fructose now. It'll kill ya. I even developed an allergy to it Only then do you research and find out that it's just one more reason we're not living as long

    My 2 cents

I live for Pepsi. But, I've cut back over the years to lose weight. I usually have a 12 or 16 ounce a day. The pure sugar Pepsi does taste noticeably better to me. I will only drink Coke as a last resort. For some reason, if I get McDonald's coke or maybe have it at a bar, restaurant, it doesn't taste as nasty as out of the bottle coke. The bottle coke is like battery acid, and not sweet enough, it's too "thick" or "dark" or something.

I've been a Pepsi drinker for as long as I can remember. I've seen the ads and one of my friends have told me about Pepsi Throwback, but I haven't tried it as of yet. As soon as my paycheck clears later on today and when I go shopping, I think I'll grab a 12-pack and see what it's like.

There is a rebellion afoot against HFCS.

Haven't found the Dew Throwback out here yet, bu tI've enjoyed non-HFCS versions of Pepsi, Coke, and Dr. Pepper for some time now as they come out/become more available. I'm looking forward to trying it to see. Currently my preferred Dew is Voltage, which I'd love ot try in a suger version.

Now if they'll just restore Jolt to sugar, and bring back Crystal Pepsi...

Tried it last night and I dig it. It reminds of the Pepsi's I used to drink everyday from the coin machine in my JROTC unit field house.
