OT: Anyone been to the Bahamas? We're going there the week before CV and need ideas!

I know this probably is a weird place to ask, but this forum is one of very few places where I know americans. ;)

We (BH 7060 and I) are going on our honeymoon to the Bahamas the week before CV. We are leaving Norway early august, and plan on going to CV after a week on the beach.

Is it easy to travel from Orlando to Bahamas, or should we travel directly to the Bahamas? Plane tickets seems a lot cheaper to Orlando, but finding transportation from there is confusing! Is it easy to go by bus/train from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale, for example?

If anyone have hotel recommandations for us at the Bahamas, we would love to hear about it! We'd love to snorkle, explore the nature, see dolphines and other cool fishes, enjoy the beach and see the culture. And we don't want to be in the middle of thousands of other tourists if we can avoid it.

Thanks a lot! (y)

(Sorry about any misspelled words...I usually copy/paste from Word to the text box but when I sent my computer to get worked on the guy deleted Word. :facepalm)
I went with my parents 6 years ago (can't believe it's been that long!)
We drove from GA to Fort Lauderdale and took Carnival as our cruise ship. We stayed on board the ship rather than have hotels.
Nassu was pretty cool, but Freeport was a total bust. Maybe it's changed since then, but when we went, the local taxis were charging can't remember how much to take you to the other side of the island (a one way trip). Since my grandmother was in the beginning states of Alzehimers, we basically took the trip as a last family vacation, and she wanted to go to the other side of the island so we went....and there was really nothing to see. Personally, I would have been happy to have stayed on board the ship that afternoon.
Can't tell you about snorkeling (I'm claustrophobic), and with a teenager and an old lady, we didn't do too much nature stuff. :cry
Nassu had little scooter things you could rent if you wanted to do some traveling (besides taxis and little open buses while on island, but I was too scared to drive (since I'm American, I'd probably tried to have driven on the wrong side of the road. :) ) Of course the bus was fun b/c we had a guide talking to us and providing funny commentary on the city.
