Only in LA can you come up on something like this
Long story short, I inherited this gun from a friend in the prop world. Unsure of "Actual Origin" the story goes it was used in a Star Trek Pilot Episode that was never used. I can't say I believe this, but who cares where it came from, it is sweet, and the light works!
It looks like it would have been mounted on a vehicle or tripod, but I had to take a pick "Jessie the Body Style" in my living room. I'm still laughing in the pic from the shock of how cool it is.

This Big gear part says: Cutler-Hammer Motor Control
If anyone has any ideas on where this may be from, that would be interesting.

BFG= LARGE GUN LOL! That is great!
Re: Only in LA can you come up on something like this
My guess is Big Fing Gun.
Re: Only in LA can you come up on something like this
That motor control looks like WWII era.
Re: Only in LA can you come up on something like this
That is definitely not the cannon from the first Star Trek pilot.
Both pilots have been seen and it isn''t from either of them:

Muad'Dib: yea, I didn't think it was. Most stuff you find around here has a story to it that isn't quite true. I still am interested to see if I can find what it was used for, but there are so many low budget, indy, sci-fi films that it could have been used in.

That is one big piece of gear. Great display piece and conversation stater.
When are you making a mold? http://i652.photobucket.com/albums/u...es/ROFLMAO.gif

It does look very 50's-60's "Forbidden Planet-era", doesn't it.
Is it actually heavy because although your holding it up, the main body kind of looks like an old industrial pivoting band saw assembly.
Back then those would have most likely been made of cast metal so I don't think you'd be hefting it like you are.
Re: Only in LA can you come up on something like this
Yes it def looks like it has a mount point. The body is wood, the can on the body is metal, the tubes are metal, and the barrel coil is also metal. It is about 30 pounds.
...but I just had to hold it like "Jessie the Bodies" gun in Predator
