okay i have to pick one of these for xmas one i have but i can trade in and my dad will pay the rest but any help i love both types of bikes but i just got my permit soo ya ;) well here they are

Hey, the Buell looks very sharp. But the custom harley sportster also catches my eye too.:D Its hard, I cant decide either. But at least you'll look cool in any of them, right?8)
Have you looked at BMW? Very smooth and very fast, extended service intervals. They have some really nice looking sport versions. Guess I didn't help answer your question.:b
ya i went to the buell place and sat on the xb12r it sweet but i have ridden the sportster and its bomb its such a hard choice:doh
and bmw lol arnt they expensive ?? but ill just take a look
I'll take my R1 over all of them, but if I had to choose between those, I'd go with the Buell. Definately more fun.

How old are you? For me it has to be the Buell, isn't the Harley an old mans bike? What do I know, as a Brit I don't think we ever had the "love affair" with Harley's. I'm with jpnk3, but I'll stick with my bullet proof blade!

I've always liked Harley's but that Buell looks pretty cool. Not sure if blue is a good color for the Harley, but that's just me. It looks good on the Buell though for sure.

But from the 2 presented I'd go for the Buell...
I love the color of the buell but seen so many guys hit face first on any kind of accident. At least with the Harley you don't necisarrilly hit face first at lower speeds. Other than that I would have to say buell looks like fun but it doesn't take too many years before you look very uncool on a kid's bike. The Harley ya can age into.
Also what sort of groups are there to go riding with in your area? are ther lots of Harly groups or lots of well rocket bike groups because a lot of riding is also socializing and if you can't relate then that limits your socializing and fun. Just my experiences
Id say the Buell anyday!
Or if you want a proper bike then you need the Suzuki GSXR 750 :thumbup...hopefully i will have one.....one day!!!
Personally, I would go with the buell. Once you get tired of the look, you can get a conversion frame kit.
And build something like this.

Being born and raised in the UK I would get a Triumph myself (any model). my Dad had a Bonneville and it was a go getter man!!!

You're young, get the Buell. There's plenty of time to get a full-size Harley. The Sportster is often viewed by other Harley riders as a "chick's bike". The Buell will be much more reliable, and cheaper in the long run. Also consider an old Triumph over the Harley if you're looking for something vintage.

I used to have a Sportster 1200. I'm 6' 1" and even with the forward control kit I felt cramped on it. I didn't feel too bad selling it off. :doh
I've taken the Buells for test drives and they feel vrey nice. Love the torque! :drool

I think you should take the Harley and send me the Buell. Lol...nah if you're under 30 take the Buell. I think younger women would find it more attractive and you'll fit in more with the bikers of that age group. If you're over 30, take the Harley. It really all boils down to your own tastes and what fits your personality. I think you'll be happy with either one, just be sure to let us know what you pick.
Since you don't have a Ducati Monster to choose from, I'd say go for the Buell.....dependable and forgiving.......
I kind of agree. My unlcle bought it not long after he got his Corvette. Harley's tend to leak oil and need to be babied a lot, just like Corvettes, British sports cars. They remind me of hi-maintenance women. :lolQuote:

ive built and ridin harleys from the age 17- 30..........but unelss its a really old sportster like the 69' 900 copped custom i had, there smaller and like count said a "chicks" ride. go with what u feel is "you"
best thing 2 things to consider:
1. what suits ur personality
2. what size/make bike can u physically handle...too often ppl make a mistake and get a bike thats way too heavey or big and often find this out later in a situation that results in serious injury....especially if its ur first bike!
i dont mean to preach, but once u have seen family/ friends and even strangers get hurt/killed its hard not too..including myself.......

My brother has that same Buell but in a different color and it is a great bike. Ive got a '05 Ducati 749 Superbike and sometimes the Buell is more fun because its got more torque.
If those are your only two choices i would have to say Buell too.
Id wait and save up for something better... like a Ducati... :D
Myself, ill be eventually getting the Hybrid Triumph... built inbetween Cloud Strife's Fenrir Cycle (Final Fantasy) and The Judge Dread Bike (Judge Dread)... Looks very much like a Swoop.... Perfect for me :D
I agree with some of the others, get something YOU like and that YOU can handle easily. Don't let your testosterone get the better of you and get something too large.
Whatever you do, wear a helmet and assume drivers can not see you. It will make you a more defensive and aware driver. We don't have a helmet law in South Carolina, but anyone with any sense wears a brain bucket.
It would totally rock if you got your motorcycle helmet painted like a Boba Fett helmet. 8)
I saw a pic of someone's bike that was painted like Slave 1, but of course, I can't find the pic now.

I'd go with the Buell, just because Sportsters are a bag of spanners. If you want to go the Harley road then get one of the Bigger evos. If that's not poss then stick with the Buell, looks far better, more reliable and the brakes work. :)
okay well hmm my dad really wants me to stay with the harley and i want the buell but i still dono i mean ya i think i can handle iit i have been on motorcycles since i was 3 lol but i might have to disappoint:doh my dad and go ith the buell but ill let you all kno after xmas what going down lol;)
