Did you say 6 hrs? "I can get nothing done at home." Got another 6 hrs to spare?
Looks great Nate!!!!
I am a bit embarrassed to say that TDH is fairly involved in this project and yet, I have not made the time to check out the progress since very early on in the process. Kudos to Spidey and crew for drawing to the end of what has seemed to be an impossible task. It is simply amazing to see all the names of those who have generously donated their time and resources to providing a proper suit to the man who gave us the character on whom this board is based. Congratulations guys and girls. We all look forward to the final product!
D
MAKERS, Please read your PMS!!![]()
Danny, what are you talking about, I thought you were done already, I was ready to put the deserved grade on there, you had done such a great job staying inside the lines and everything!
In all seriousness, the sky looks great in the second pic, you really brought it to life, there's truly a sense of the sunlight trying to burn through the clouds!![]()
![]()
Thanks for the passing grade.
And thanks for the compliment.
I've had to take a few days to do some other artwork for sale. Gotta pay the rent. But I'll be working on the portrait a bit more tonight, so I should be able to post more update photos tomorrow sometime. 8)
I've received the blasters!Started a thread in the blaster forum:
http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/showt...339#post321339
As promised, a small update. I basically finished the buildings in the background -- just a few small details to thrown on there -- and got a good start on the landing platform. I'll probably finish that tonight, then I'll start on the ship.
![]()
most excellent....awesome job so far!!!
WOW...love the way it's coming together.... as a fellow painter you can see the direction you are going....great work Danny.![]()
the background is looking so good dude.
That's looking tight man! I love it!
Great job Danny!![]()
Dude, you got some serious talent!!!![]()
Fantastic artwork! JB is going to be chuffed![]()
This looks awesome, but i think it's even more amazing to be able to watch it grow from a sketch to a final product. Keep up the good work!
Charlie
Just over 30 days till the event! It's getting exciting.
![]()
Danny should be posting some more progress pics tonight.![]()
Danny: Great work so far!
Are you using acrylics with glazes?
:o Thanks again, everybody. I'll be getting back to work on it shortly, and will have pics to post tonight.
I used watered-down acrylic colors mixed with gesso for the underpainting, and oil paint for the final colors. I just like to get a good solid underpainting done before I go in with the oils; it helps to fill in the texture of the canvas and get rid of all those pesky little white spots that appear when the paint doesn't go on heavy enough.
I"m not stressed at all.
My part's done![]()
You guys rock!
Well, I got some work done tonight. Got the platform basically finished - enough so I can move on to the ship, anyway.
![]()
WOW!!! Love how you did the reflections on the platform/catwalk!!! Very nice!! OHHHH....& I love the little buildings in the background!!!! Looks just like the real matte painting for ESB!!!
D
Got started on the ship. Just the basic color pattern for now. I'll get into the nitty-gritty details, as well as better coloring and shading, as soon as this layer of paint stiffens up a bit.
![]()
Wow! This is looking really excellent! The backgrounds look like matte paintings!
Can't wait to see what you do with the Slave 1 and the armor!
Looks awesome!
=)
Cant wait to see more.
This is really lookin' good, but the suspense to see it finalized is killin' me!![]()
Wow, this is pretty darn cool. I am really impressed that this has come together so well. I know it's been tried before but has never happened but everyone involved has done an awesome job of making this a reality. Way to go everyone!!!

Jewel Staite is gonna be there???Cool!
What kind of "shifts" will people be working at the TDH booth?
I'll volunteer to man the booth. . . but not during the presentation!
Maybe if you have 2 people at a time with slightly "overlapping" shifts? Like 11-1, 12:30-2:30, 2-4?
That way you'd need 6 people total. . . something like that maybe.
No, I just thought I'd man the booth from Tucson. I'll set up a webcam link.
Yes! I got clearance from "The Boss" to make the journey! Now I just have to clear it through my boss (lowercase
). But it won't be an issue to take a couple days leave to give me a nice long weekend of sci-fi fun!
![]()
I'll table sit for a while.
Rachel
2 pm...WHICH DAY!!!
Saturday the 5th.
Man that's looking killer!
Although I find the big letters across Fett's shins a bit distracting.
![]()
That is just sick, Dan. Way to glaze!
Man, I'm getting excited just reading your posts.
I hope you'll offer a DVD of the presentation to your TDH brethren here. It'll be so great to see you guys present to Mr. Bulloch one of the best suits ever compiled.![]()
Hah. Sorry about that. I'll make sure to paint those out before I finish it.
Thanks!
I got a chance to take a good picture outside. This is more or less what the painting actually looks like (on my monitor, anyway). I'm planning to do a bit more glazing on the sky to make the colors pop out a little more. That won't take long, then I can get started on the suit!
Dan (signed in on Danielle's account)
Wow, amazingJeremy is going to love this. Between the suit and the painting, I really don't know how he is going to absorb all this coolness at once
![]()
One word... Stunning! :thumbup
You have some unbelievable skills there and JB is gonna love it!
(if not give it to me)JK
I cant even tell you just how cool this is...I really think this is going to be truly special.

are you kidding me!?!?!
that ship looks sick!!!!!!!!!
Nice job!
womo
I will man the booth for one hour (not during the presentation) on saturday
Thanks everybody!
OK, so I've started on the helmet, gotten the jet pack almost done and pretty much finished the cape. I did the boots and started on the jumpsuit. I'm painting everything clean to start off, since that's a lot quicker, then I'll add the dirt and weathering once it's all dry.
Don't worry, I'll drop a shadow in under him once he's finished, so it won't look like he's floating in space.![]()
....WOW Dan, those boots are almost EXACT to the picture I sent you......Fantastic work!!!:thumbup...Love the cape!!
Wow. It is amazing to watch this image transform from a very dull single colored look to the very detailed 3D lifelike effect.
I love the work and care you guys are putting into this!!! I've been looking at every thread looking at the progress pics and I get so excited because I know its a bunch of awesome people doing something they love for an awesome man, Mr. Bulloch. You guys rock, keep it up! This project inspired me to put my own Fett costume together no matter how long it takes...and hopefully, just maybe someday I will get to meet Jeremy Bulloch in person! Keep at it guys!

Thanks Guys..
Just wanted to alert everyone, that Official Pix has a never before released, and very rare, behind the scenes picture of Jeremy in costume during ESB... and Yes, Jeremy had a Beard during filming....
This is one of many that will be released by Official Pix in the up coming weeks....so be on the look out for presales.
Special thanks to Philip Wise and Ben Stevens for making these available for the up coming Jeremy Project:thumbup...so if you are in the Dallas Area this weekend, you will be able to pic one up.
Sorry, but I was not allowed to post anything bigger than this.![]()

Sorry, it's taken quite a bit longer than I'd originally anticipated. A lot of little things have come up to slow me down, but never fear! The portrait is VERY near completion, and I'm planning to have it signed, varnished and ready to go tomorrow sometime. Then I'll post one more pic (not the whole painting; don't want to spoil it for anybody).
![]()
I can just picture Danielle over your shoulder saying, "No, no a little more there. Wait, not so much there. Oh don't forget that detail."
Great work, this is like a free lesson in painting techniques.![]()

I'm SO excited and I'm not even in the same country, can't wait to see pics/video of the presentation and especially of the 'finished' suit, hey this muct be the only fan made Boba Fett suit that will actually be called 'finished'![]()
Hee hee hee! 2 days!
Even though I'm not going, I'm so stoked! I've been watching the JB threads religiously. Someone please shake Mr. Bulloch's hand for me?![]()
Man o Man.. I've said it another thread previous to this but I'm very envious of you guys over the pond when it comes to conventions etc... we are still a little too conservative over here?
I personally (Altho amongst loads of other non US Fetts) can't wait to see the pics and video... most of all to see the man himself receive this awesome collection of Fett artists creations to what he once knew and wore as a 'job'
Yours.. with envious eyes.. Gav! :thumbup
Not only am I excited about being there for the JB presentation...this will be the first time I get to meet other TDHer's, since I've been here for a year and ahalf.
Just wanted to say good luck to all TDH attending the JB presentation and dinner--what an honor. Hope to see some extensive video and images. And above all have fun!
I just wanted to say that I hope everyone who attends has a great time, takes plenty of pictures and video and remembers the rest of TDH who can't attend. We'll be with you in spirit! Have a blast guys!
Have a great time guys!I'm looking forward to the pictures/video that are taken.
I was hoping I'd be able to make it down for this as my immediate family are all in Dallas this weekend visiting an aunt. But with a new house purchase, I just couldn't swing the expense.
Oh man, what i would give to be able to attend the CON. Well, that's what i get for being born in Norway.
Have a great time. Say hi to Jeremy from us over the pond, we are with you in our thoughts.
And ofcourse...... take a LOT of pics.
-Morten-
12 hours to the presentation...I'm excited![]()
I would of loved to be there as well. To honor him with his own suit is a priceless event.
Just a quick post before getting ready for the dinner...
Everyone who has contributed to the suit has done an amazing job. It is stunning! Very impressive. As is Obi-Dan's painting. We have such talented people here.
The presentation went really well. Nice to be able to put faces with board names, and see everyone's handy work up close. JB was fun to watch, oohing & awwing over details like the blaster & holster.
Hopefully someone who actually had a camera can post some of the pictures soon. Silly me didn't bring one...
Thanks for the update. Still looking forward to see some pics.
Have fun guys.

http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/showt...080#post330080
Dan,
saw the portrait pics on the other thread
Awesome work
did you forget to sign it?
Just got home from the Event a little while ago. . . 15 1/2 hour drive from Dallas to Tucson.
The whole weekend was simply amazing. The presentation was fantastic! Batninja, DarthMiller, and Spidey were naturals up there!
It was just phenomenal to see everyone's work put together like that, and the crowd reaction when they unveiled the suit was incredible. I think I probably gasped myself.
Philip Wise's Star Wars museum was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen in my life!![]()
I took a whole slew of pics, and after I come out of my coma I'll get them uploaded to Photobucket and post a link.
It was a real pleasure to meet all the TDHers that were there!![]()
Yes it was a great job by all involved!
WHOOT!
womo
Just WOW !
Where to even begin ?
First, let me just say that I've not been in the presence of so many talented individuals in one room in my life. As Art said, seeing everyone work together to achieve one common goal was a very humbling experience !
I can't even begin to find the words that could emphasize enough, just how amazing this experience was. It was indeed the pinnacle of all my experiences in the world of Star Wars, and especially the world of Fett fandom !
It was absolutely wonderful to meet each and every one of you. I've not met so many genuinely gracious people in my life, as I did with this event. From the hospitality of my host's, Alex and Melissa (Mr. and Mrs. Spideyfett), Jason (Darth Miller), and Philip Wise, to those I consider my newest friends from TDH, the overwhelming feeling of "WELCOME" cannot be compared to anything else. Thank you "ALL", from the bottom of my heart.
A special "Thank You" to Art and Kristen, for graciously donating their time and photography expertise. They worked VERY hard to bring the experiences of this event to each and every one of us - their professionalism was second only to their devotion to "Bringing it home" for TDH. This event has made "History" - and through them, will be remembered for all time. It was truly a pleasure to meet you BOTH !
FP
I had said this in the other thread, but felt like I should say it here as well:
I just want to say a huge THANK YOU to all the guys here, and to Philip Wise for letting me participate in this event, It was truly amazing. I felt just like a kid again watching ESB for the first time. The quality of this costume is second to none, the artists that put this together are truly awesome!!!:thumbup:thumbup It was really great getting to meet so many of the members here. Everyone I met ,were first class guys (and gals) all the way. I will never forget this weekend. I look forward to seeing you all again sometime soon. This was probably the coolest Star Wars moment I have ever had. Again, Thank you all.
