Nod to Surefire Flashlights

So I have a C3 surefire flashlight which I absolutely LOVE! I am not sure exactly what happened to it, but the batteries overheated and caught on fire!!! Burned up the whole inside, including the bezel. This is almost a $200 flashlight so I was pretty upset! So I call up Surefire and tell them what happened. They asked what kind of batteries I used... I didn't know.. they were completely trashed, but I am sure they were some off-brand. The customer support agent told me that using offbrands often resulted in this happening and voided the warranty... Ugh! So then he asks what is damaged and I tell him... and he gets my address and ships out the new parts... no questions asked... No charge to me!

This is the kind of customer service that keeps people coming back for years to come! Can't ask for anything more than that!!!

yeah, surefire lights are awesome. i used one for over a year as a correctional officer. one tiny hand light could illuminate a cell like it was in daylight. great to hear their customer service is so reliable as well.

btw,.. any chance that you were using lithium batteries that got wet? i heard that if moisture gets inside lithium batteries it can cause flame outs and in some cases small explosions. just wonderin.

I recently got a Surefire E2D Led Defender. The best flashlight i've owned thus far. Glad to hear they have good customer service. Rare these days.

Surefire is right down the street from me. One of my wifes old friends worked there and gave her a winelight 2. I used it for over a year and then someone stole it... Not too happy about it. Amazing lights.

Not sure if they got wet or not, but out here in the desert, I am doubting it...

Surefire makes great stuff. Trusted em in Iraq and trust em here. Glad they hooked you up. I hear they are more than happy to help customers.

all this is news to me. Can someone explain to me what makes a flashlight worth $150?

Glad everything worked out and your no damage was done, Art.

well,.. it more based on how often and how badly you need a good dependable flashlight. I used to work as a correctional officer on midnight shift for 9 months. I had the choice of the 20 yr old flashlight the state issued me or buying my own. I bought my own that was brighter, stronger, more dependable and easier to use. I had to use it all night long, checking cells, patrolling perimeter, and searching buildings for contraband. There is something reassuring about knowing you are carrying good gear. Mine only cost me 50 bucks. it was a smaller 2 cell LED light.

Besides,.. how much do we blow on star wars stuff? lol

Well, it is called "surefire" so not sure exactly why you're surprised.

Leave it to you brother  I can't even imagine that you wouldn't have responded with something like this ... I find myself following your posts from time to time just to get a much needed chuckle :D

Well, these are actually TACTICAL flashlights.

In the military we use Surefires mounted on our weapons. Not only do they produce high LED tac lights, but the batteries in which they offer, I can run my tac light for 7 hours straight.

They literally will light up an entire room and have special features built into them such as, Screw Mounted Activation switches, so if I need to use it as a Signaling tool, you unscrew the back portion a little and you can flip it on and off with just a shallow depress and release. Or the ability to mount the wire-feed activation button on a gangster foregrip for ease of illumination. Not to mention their ability to take damage.

So coming to a building where I know 3 armed insurgents are waiting in the midst of the darkness, I will trust my 150 dollar Surefire over the 20 dollar maglight any day.
