There were be some Mando Mercs in attendance. We tried to set up a booth this year, but there just didn't seem to be enough people attending to do it.

    Not enoughs Mando Mercs, or general people going to the con itself?

    People in between Mercs and TDH (combined booth). We will start planning this out a little further next year, and hopefully people's budgets will turn around enough to make NYCC a possibility. I know I am planning to be there in 2010. =)

    My shuttle is being prepared as I write this. I'll be there with shiny red bells on;

    Ganner Krieg in battle with Darth Synn.

    I've been upgrading my armour for the event. See you there,

    There's quite a long while now to plan the next one, it will be[FONT=arial] October 8-10, 2010.

    I'll be there in TDH shirt, no finished armor yet.

    Yep, and I will be attending NYCC in 2010. Going to be working on a "Mandalorians invade the Today Show" event, so hopefully that all comes together. NYCC unfortunately has no policy for fan group tables...so it was very tricky trying to set up something that was benificial to everyone in such short time. That shouldn't be a problem for next year's con. =)

    WooT Thomas, I love that Ganner armor. Can't wait to see pics of the upgrades.

    I'll be getting into NYC late Friday night and attending the con all day on Saturday. I'll have my Boba, Indiana Jones and my BSG fatigues. I can't wait to see everyone!

    I was hoping Thomas would be there again! It'll be great to see you again sir! It's been a long time.

    Also, it'll be great to finally meet you in person Sean!

    When I was looking through some of the pics on comingsoon.net I found this one and was wondering if it was a TDHer?

    Yes, I met him.... he didn't say too much other than he was ECG. I didn't catch his name or board name though. I got to meet Obi Sean Kenobi briefly so that was cool. It was also nice to hang with Jedi-Bob again (long time Fetthead from years ago on TDH) and to see Thomas again. Lastly, met the newest Jango Fett who just fiinished his suit and was making his first troop with the ECG, runJedirun.

    New York City ComicCon 2009, a success

    Good evening,

    I had a wonderful tyme visiting in New York with friends and members of the art community. I want to give thanks to the Empire City Garrison, and especially Mary Alice TK8228 for their hospitality.

    It was a pleasure to visit with artist Jan Duursema and family at this year's convention. Tom and Jan were especially kind in looking out for me when I was light-headed. (It is all too easy to forget proper hydration and nutrient requirements in the thick of such an exciting event.)

    One of the ladies I met at the show last year, aka Zammap, made an animated gif of myself as Ganner Krieg from footage taken this past weekend;

    It will be a while before my NYCC 2009 gallery is up, but I look forward to sharing the images when it is.

    Be well,
    Thomas

    Just found the video done at collegehumor.com that I was "interviewed" for while in my Boba Fett. Pretty amusing.

    Belated NYCC 2009; I'm just a regular guy

    Hello,

    Start up issues with my recent return to my post as the 501st Legion Membership Officer has taken up all of my free tyme. As such personal projects--completing costumes, artwork, and my own gallery maintenance--has suffered. Now that I am beginning to free up again, I'd like to share some of what I have been up to. These images are from my visit to the 2009 New York Comic Con;

    (Click the banner to enter the gallery)

    Once I arrived in New York, I rendezvoused with my sister in the costuming arts, Mary Alice. Together we traveled to my friend's gallery opening.

    I had not seen Ekatherina since 2005, at her home in Germany. I considered the chances that she would be in New York having a show on the same weekend that I was there to be astronomical. I don't know how it was possible, but I feel she looks even younger than when we first met in 1995. I find her art to be every bit the reflection of her own beauty.

    For this event, I upgraded my Imperial Knight armour; 1. New cape with twice the fabric for a more dramatic flow. 2. Resewed the undertop to better disperse body heat. 3. Removed magnets on chest armour and replaced with hinge and cotter pin system for more secure closure.

    My 501st family, starting and ending with Mary Alice, was heartwarmingly cordial with me. It is an amazing thing to travel around the world and be amongst family no matter where you are.

    Amongst the familiar faces that I had hoped to encounter was Briana, who appeared positively radiant in her new Loki Goddess costume. Bravo.

    Another costume highlight for me was Bill's Rahm Kota. I had seen Bill's work before and I still admire his craftsmanship. A great helping of respect there.

    One of the main reasons I go to NYCC is to visit with my friend Jan Duurseama. Jan's entirely family is incredibly kind and inspirational. (In this image, fellow Legionnaire Chip, Artist Jan, and Model Doug.) A big thank you to Jan and her man Tom for allowing me to rest at their table. And for sharing those kettle chips with me when I was low on energy. Never before has a bag of chips been so valuable.

    On the last night of the convention I joined with my fellows from both Rebel and 501st Legions for a celebration dinner. All the hard-core, dyed-in-the-wool-Legionnaires stayed behind to sing Karaoke. The Legion has got talent.

    Starting with NYCC 2008, I like to complete each convention overview with an image of Harley Quin. Monique was only too happy to oblige. Thank you dear.

    Be well,
    Thomas
