New Tandy Glue Warning

For those of you who will be using the new Tandy Card this year or anyone for that matter. If you plan on buying contact cement from them it usually comes in a small can about 8oz and it is now made by barge.

Try to avoid this one. The fumes are very bad. Its suppose to have a low VOC on it but its not low enough, and the glue doesn't hold very well anyways. If you can ask if they still have the older ones left.

This glue does not have as much fumes as the newer one. This is just an FYI. I don't want any you guys getting sick. Get them while you can, this can is discontinued.

Tandy has been replacing old products for the past few years.

In 2006 Tandy sold their brand of dyes known as Pro dye. It was alcohol based ( spirit based) dyes. In 2007 California pass a law about the banning of certain products, which forced Tandy to create the new water based dyes. Hence you don't see any Fiebings Products anymore. They are not allowed to be sold there anymore.

Many customers wanted to buy the barge glue but could not, Tandy was only allowed to sell the quarts of barge to businesses only. In the end of 2008 Tandy got together with barge to make their own brand. But if you ask me, it failed. The fumes are way to strong even in a ventilated area. I have gotten sick twice now and have had to change back.

They also have changed companies for about 80% of their packaging for products. From nice boxes to sealed plastics. They are tiring to cut down costs on lots of things. I just don't like the fact that they are getting packaging less but charging us more.
Glue went from being $6.00 a can to $10.00 a can. Kangaroo lace went from being $49.99 a spool to $75.00 a spool. I use to like to use this to make 4 ft. bullwhips but I won't be doing it anymore.

This is why I am advising everyone who thinks they might be buying anything in the future from Tandys to get on the list for the member cards.

i love the fiebings dye, but the eco-flow stuff seems fine.

thankfully i'm not worried about the fumes on the cement... the joys of a vented paint room and a big respirator ;)

thanks for the heads up though! it's great to hear this stuff ahead of time!
