At least it will have web shooters. Too soon for a reboot
Maybe his Wrestler/prototype costume? I would hope
The ONLY saving grace is that they did away with the sculpted webs on it.
I mean c'mon Raimi, how the heck were we supposed to swallow that he could sculpt, mold, cast, digitally print, and sew a costume in 2 days yet he couldn't afford a $2,000 car to impress MJ?
Spidey's first costume can NOT be in any way, shape, or form a deviation from the first comic one and that's the end of that story.
Its for sure his thrown together wrestler/proto...Ill link u from FB the sites NWS
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacey BTW!
I appreciate the effort on tryin to make a new suit design, but looks like ****
So.... the MAJOR problem with the Raimi suit is compounded even MORE in this new flick by the fact that even his slapped-together wrestling suit is a master feat of engineering?
You can't explain this nonsense away. You can't just do stuff to "make it look cool, man". It HAS to be reasonable.
Theres a multitude of photos of the costume on set and it look horrendous.
The new Hulk was amazing, the Ang Hulk was horrible. I like Raimi and although Spiderman 3 was lacking I still think 1 and 2 were great. Emma Stone makes this one worth seeing though
Spidey is supposed to be a little thin but more like wirey, lean muscle-- this guy (even if it's just the stuntman) looks all of 120 lbs.
You guys are all out of your minds... That suit is awesome. This movie is gonna own, and put the others to shame. If you wanna bag on something, it should be Green Lantern. The CGI looks really bad in the trailer.
I'll be here to serve (or maybe eat) some humble pie later.
I will say that it's cool that there is actually real life web swinging in this movie.
I'm not digging the suit either.
It almost reminds me of the 1970's TV series Spiderman... especially the bulbous eyes...
I think they just wanted a reboot so they could continue the franchise without paying for Toby Maguire's salary... time will tell if its going to be good... hopefully it will be.
I don't know about everyone else, but I can't wait for the reboot of the Thor series in 2020! We all know that Thor 4 is going to be horrible!
Let's be perfectly honest, movie franchises with this type of funding have no excuse to get so ridiculous that they need a "reboot".
lol... I didn't realize the crotch on the suit was so dark. Did he wet his pants? I also didn't see the leg trim or silver shoe accents. Not sure how I feel about it now. I'll have to see it on film to decide.
I really think the CGI is gonna make this costume sing...Take it for what its worth guys its a movie go in open minded and dont expect to much and you wont be disapointed at this point I hated the first 3 Toby wasnt a very good spidey, I hope this guys better.
What's the difference between me picking apart this junk suit or you someones Fett suit detail? Could it be because if someone gets the details wrong, it doesn't look like how Fett's suit is supposed to look? Same thing I'm doing on here--this is NOT Spidey's suit.
SO much is wrong here: Finger-gloves, swirly stripe down the arm, track shoes, clear lenses, no belt stripe, and stripes down the legs.
And you want the harsh truth? The 70's show suit is actually how the comic suit would look if it was real but I know it wouldn't fly in a movie today.
The arms are supposed to make a line with the legs... I think... I don't know, I still kinda like it besides the dark spot on the front. Its probably like that for lighting's sake. Kinda reminds me of the Reilly suit, which I also like.
doesn't look very impressive there, but i'll hold judgement until i see it in proper cinematic lighting. that can make a huge difference.
side note: i'm going to see spider-man the musical on friday. i'm in the fly zone, so wish me luck! hopefully no cast members fall on me!!
Yeah because the lighting will change the design.
What era are the comics set in? -- Didn't he just save Obama last year?
You guys are killing me... What's the big deal... It's not like there has only been one incarnation of Spider-man. There are many Spideys, why not one more?

lets not forget that this is what spiderman is supposed to look like.
as much as i don't like spawn, and i think he's a tool, todd mcfarlane got spidey right!
don't the comics jump all over the timeline?
to keep on the boba comparison. it's less about not faithfully recreating an existing suit. for me, it's more like if they decide to put the fully armored boba in clone wars. he'll absolutely look different than he did in the movies. but it won't be wrong, it will just be different.
the design isn't the classic spidey, just like rex wasn't a classic phase1 clone. i don't care if he looks different as long as he looks good.
we can't all be as awesome as my first spider-suit!
that suit is pretty rad, stg!
Im not such a big fan of the new suit either, to me it looks like a cross between the classic style one and a bit of that 2099 one. And since when has spidermam worn running shoes?
But what you got to think of is that this film is focusing more on Peter Parkers high school stage, and this costume very very closely resembles his first attempt at his suit which he wore in the wrestling match from one of the many comics:
So what im thinking is that this is the suit you will see mainly in the entire film, but at the end we may get a glimpse at the old spidey suit everyone loves. Another good thing with this film is that they appear to not be killing it with CGI, theres a few photo's of spiderman actually swinging through the streets and a video featuring a cool car scene.

Nice pics, it does look like that's the case... I saw a separate pic when I was looking for the Reilly pic, the boot trim is there to match the web shooters from what I can see. They kind of stand out, so maybe they just wanted some balance there?
LA ***! Now Im kinda pissed that better be a NYC set in LA
Lol I think I did read that it is set in NY. So dont worry F4R
The actual shoes are off the shelf shoes with a few mods, the white ones btw. Found by a member on the RPF
Amazon.com: ASICS Men's GEL-Dirt Dog 3 Track & Field Shoe: Shoes
there's a big thread on the RPF all about this new suit. I kinda like the web shooter, and the scenes where he's running through the streets makes me think that he uses the ol' web cartridges and he ran out of them.
And the coolest thing about this movie......they got Rhys Ifans playing the Lizzard He wouldnt be my first choice but he used to live pretty close to me so I like him lol
No I'm sorry those photos from the comic are from the New style comics, meaning they made that look in the comics to fit what they had in the movie. Like Wolverine wearing the X leather coat right after it was seen in X-Men, like how after Spider-Man 1 came out, and the webs were organic and not webslinging gadgets, they immediately followed suit in the books. In other words that comic was made to justify that horrible piece of **** costume he's wearing in those shots. I have a feeling this is going the way of Superman Returns.
Thats what Spidey fought the wrestler in
thank you!!! and now that the "pee stain" has been pointed out, I just can't NOT see it. lol.
I know that its a movie created comic to go along with the movie, just like they did with the old films. All im saying is that the suit you see him wearing is the suit he appears to be wrestling in in the comic, so im bloody hoping this isnt the final suit.
I used to be a big spiderman fan, and im a purist to the old red and blue style, why they find the need to alter such an iconic character so much is beyond me. To be fair though production photos rarely look like the finished article, so im hoping that with light effects etc it looks a little better but still.......blue fingers ***
They should just go back to the one used on "The Electric Company". Is my age showing...
"Taaake me to yooour leeeader..."
"I gotta bad feeling about this"
But didn't they always say:
"Tune in tomorrow when Spider-Man says: " Berrrrent... BWEEEWEEEEEEORRRRWWWW!"
If you understood that refference and read it with the right phonetics, then you're a person with my sense of humor!
Marvel's going to ruin this franchise, just like the 90's Batman. Suit is pretty lame. Poor decision's all around. A shame too, b/c I'm a huge Spidey-fan. Why don't they relaunch the Electric Co.'s Spider-man?
Because no one under 25 wants Spidey's suit to look the way it's supposed to look.
Remember Green Goblin II's uber-hip skateboard? Yeesh.
yeah, that's the spider-man footy pajamas and ski mask. i used to wear it around the house like that regularly, despite sweating to death
related to spider-talk, i went to NYC see "turn off the dark", the spider-man musical on broadway yesterday for my 35th birthday. they kept the suit faithful to the classic there.
i actually had one of my best nerd moments ever at that show.
we were on the mezzanine level, and in one scene spidey swung on his webs up to our level, perched on the edge of the balcony, waved, then swung back down. best. thing. ever. seeing that live!! the show pretty well rotted other than visuals, but the visuals were phenomenal.
Your balcony experience sounds like the part of the Universal ride when he lands on the front of the car you're in.
Yeah, it was a CG Spidey but I was just talking about the idea, not the real-world logistics of it.
Coincidentally, once while I was in line for it in the newspaper office part of the que, we were stopped in line near one of the exit doors next to a bookcase when the door swung open and the street performer in the Spidey suit ran in, jumped up on top of the bookshelf, said hi to everyone and told us not to tell J.J. he was there. Then he hopped down and left out the same fire exit. Now that was pretty cool!
I really want to see this movie, but this suit doesnīt let me feel the real spiderman feeling.
I know that I am 17 years old and didnīt see every spiderman suit, but it is true that I am a huge fan of spiderman.
but after all the things I did hear about this movie, I must say that I am really looking forward to it.
I really want to know what the storyline is.
I'm completely fine with the suit and thinks it happens to look great. Looks like Spider-Man to me
If you never saw the original suit would this suit bother anyone? Its not like its frilly and girlie. I think it'll work I hear Doc Conners (the Lizard) Plays a role and the gwen stacey story as well not sure what else thuogh
All scrunched up, at a glance and without close inspection sure, it looks pretty cool in that picture BUT, It's till not right. Funny how they chose to hide most of the discrepancy areas in the pose choice. I love that the webs are less pronounced than Raimi's but there is no reason for the extra black piping across the blue areas and the "mechanix" gloves and stripes down the legs are stupid and pointless. Pee stain is a blatant attempt to draw attention there.
I say its about a 40% improvement over the previous suit only due to fact it's less bulky and not so sculpted but it fails horribly at all other aspects. Nice baggy boots, by the way. Are those Rubies?
not even boots, just sewn of footies that look like boots imo. To me the only improvement they made was him actually using web slingers instead of it just being shot from his wrists. As far as storyline, as long as we don't have to suffer through another stupid green goblin, I'll be relieved.
^^^ Agreed. I always hated that whole "organic web" thing from the previous flicks. I hope there's some scenes in the new one where he's tinkering with his web slingers.
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy is a great choice. Even though I'm not a fan of the pee-stain suit, I'll probably go see this one. It might be good.
This all reminds me of Mandalorian fans raging against the Clone Wars overriding the KT books.
The way I look at this stuff is to just take it as it comes, and look at each thing on its own.
Compared to the classic suit, yeah, this is all sorts of different. But, if I don't compare to the classic, I think it looks cool in that shot. I'm sure it will be OK when I'm watching the movie.
Only super-hero besides Superman that ALWAYS returns to his classic, unaltered design. All I'm sayin'.
